The maxillary sinus is the largest paranasal sinuses. Foreign bodies of nosal sinus can caused by car accidents, firearm attacks, or iatrogeniccause. We reported two rare cases of foreign body of pulp needle and loach. The clinical manifestations might include facial numbness, facial paresthesia, swelling, nasal congestion, facial pain, eye discomfort, limited mouth opening and relapse and etc. Both CT scan and the medical history were helpful in diagnosis. Functional endoscopic surgery would be the first choice of treatment.

Objective To explore the signal transduction mechanism of inhibitor kappa B kinase α( IKKα) , one of the catalytic subunits of IKK complex , for regulating p53 transactivation in the cellular ultraviolet radiation ( UVB) repsonse. Methods The transactivation of p53 was determined by dual-luciferase reporter gene analysis system while the expression and activation of IKKα, IKKβ, p53 and p38K was detected by Western blotting assay .Results UVB exposure induced activation and transactivation of p 53 in the wild type mouse fibroblasts ,but the effect was blocked by IKKa deficiency and recovered by reconstitution of IKKαexpression.Under the same conditions , IKKαregulated p38K activation, while inhibi-ting p38K activation down-regulated p53 transactivation under UVB exposure .Conclusion IKKαregulates UVB-induced phosphorylation and activation of p 53 in a p38K-dependent manner .

Background and purpose:MicroRNA (miRNA, miR) plays an important regulatory role in cancer. miR-222 is reported to be up-regulated in various tumors, but its role in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remains unclear. In this study, we detected the expression of miR-222 in both RCC and adjacent tissue samples. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of miR-222 in RCC. Methods:The expression levels of miR-222 in RCC tissue samples were quantified by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). DDIT4 and LC3-Ⅱ protein expressions were determined by Western blot. Dual luciferase assay was performed to verify the target of miR-222. EGFP-LC3 microscopy assay was performed to assess autophagy. Results:Results from qRT-PCR showed that the expression of miR-222 was up-regulated in RCC tissues. Knockdown of miR-222 with speciifc antagomiR decreased the cell viability of 786-O cells, whereas overexpression of miR-222 increased the cell viability (P<0.01). The levels of DDIT4 were up-regulated in 786-O cells transfected with miR-222 antagomiR, whereas overexpression of miR-222 induced the down-regulation of DDIT4 expression. Data from dual luciferase assay indicated that miR-222 directly targeted the expression of DDIT4. Consistently, the expression of DDIT4 in RCC tissues was down-regulated compared with adjacent tissues. Knockdown of miR-222 in 786-O cells induced a signiifcant increase of autophagosome formation and LC3 lipidation. These results supported that miR-222 could inhibit autophagy in RCC cells, which may affect the clinical characteristcs of RCC. Conclusion: miR-222 is up-regulated in RCC and can inhibit the autophagy of RCC cells through down-regulating the expression of DDIT4.

BACKGROUND:To make a better preparation for orthodontic tooth, we investigate the changes in the localization of the anterior wal of the maxilary sinus and maxilary tuberosity, analyze the development of the maxila, and detect the bone mass of the maxila and development timing. However, the use of Auto-CAD software has not been reported to localize the anterior wal of the maxilary sinus and maxilary tuberosity. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the localization and growth of the anterior wal of the maxilary sinus and maxilary tuberosity in 300 children aged 4-14 years from the Han ethic group in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. METHODS: Totaly 300 children, 4-14 years of age, admitted at the Stomatological Hospital of Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, were enroled. According to Helman’s dental developmental staging, these children were divided into five groups: groups IIA, IIC, IIIA, IIIB, IIIC. Auto-CAD software was used to analyze the panoramic radiographs of the maxila and mandible. The tracing of each radiograph was digitized by translating the reference points onto an X-Y coordinate system. The straight line that passed the point where the nasal septum intersected with the hard palate (point O) and the point where the medial wal of maxilary sinus intersected with the hard palate (point PA) was designated as the X axis. The straight line that was vertical to the X axis and passed through the point O at a right angle was designated as the Y axis. The X and Y coordinate values of reference point were calculated. And then O point was set as (0, 0), and the point where the posterior wal of maxilary tuberosity intersected with the hard palate (PP) was set as (PPX, PPY). Colected data were analyzed statisticaly to understand the changes in the localization of PA and PP at different stages of dental development. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The change of point PA had on significant differences between the five groups (α > 0.05). Point PP grew obviously in a horizontal rearward and vertical downward manner from stage IIA to IIIA; this point only presented a horizontal rearward growth from stage IIIA to IIIB and only a vertical downward growth from stage IIIB to IIIC. This period was the time of the second molar eruption, indicating that the second molar eruption is helpful to the vertical growth of the maxila.
