Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2014;28(11):801-804
OBJECTIVE:
Dynamic observation of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) DNA load before and after the treatment in patients with Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), predicting the incidence of distant metastasis and offering more personalised choice of therapies.
METHOD:
Fifty-four cases of patients with NPC were taken by fluorescence quantitative PCR assay of EBV DNA load before and after the treatment, all patients were followed up according to plan and carried out the progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).
RESULT:
EBV DNA load in plasma of patients with NPC can partly reflect the clinical characteristics of patients; EBV DNA load in some patients with distant metastasis was higher than those patients with continuous remission when they were not started treatment (P < 0.05); For those patients whose EBV DNA copies were lower than 20,000 copies/mI before the treatment, the progression-free survival and overall survival rates were higher than those high expression patients, and the difference were statistically significant (PF < 0.01 and P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
The EBV DNA load in the plasma of NPC patients can partly predict the occurrence of distant metastases before treatment.

West China Journal of Stomatology 2003;21(3):235-237
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effect of static magnetic field on the expression of SP-mRNA in TG in rats.
METHODS44 Wistar rats aged 6-7 weeks were put into static magnetic field and were sacrificed at 1 h, 2 h, 6 h, 12 h, 24 h, respectively. In situ hybridization method was used to evaluate the changes of SP-mRNA expression at different time point.
RESULTSMany neurons in TG were marked with SP probes in each group, the expression of SP-mRNA increased remarkably in static magnetic field group. In this group, the percentage of SP-mRNA positive neurons in TG increased greatly in 1 h, reached its peak in 2 h, from then on, decrease of the percentage started slowly but a moderate percentage was kept until 24 h, which was thought to be enough to maintain orthodontic tooth movement. The tendency of control group was almost the same with that of experimental group. The expression of SP-mRNA was higher in experimental group within 2 h but became lower after 2 h as compared with control group, this indicated that magnetic field reduced the SP-mRNA expression and exerted restoring effect on trauma. There were significant differences between experimental groups and control group at different time points (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe expression of SP-mRNA in TG in rats increased significantly in static magnetic field.

Objective To analyze the voice quality of children post operation for complete cleft palate through subjective and objective evaluation and explore the correlation between them. Methods Electroglottography analysis was used in the natural sound/a/of 30 postoper-ative children with complete cleft palate and 34 normal children, and the difference was compared. The natural prolonged sound/a/was as-sessed with GRBAS (grade, roughness, breathiness, asthenia, strain) in the children with complete cleft palate, and the correlation between the subjective and objective results was analyzed. Results F0, harmonic to noise ratio (HNR) were less, and the shimmer, jitter, normalized noise energy (NNE) and nasalance was greater in postoperative children with complete cleft palate than in normal children. For the children with complete cleft palate, G and R mainly rated as levels 1 and 2, B also rated as levels 1 and 2 in less than half of the children. There were low or very low correlation between all subjective and objective results, excepted G, R, B and F0, which showed moderate correlation. Con-clusion The vocal cords vibrate slowly and irregularly in postoperative children with complete cleft palate, suggesting mild and moderate voice disorder, and they sound hoarsely with roughness and breathiness. There are poor correlations between the subjective and objective as-sessment, and need to be used in combination for the children with complete cleft palate.

Objective:To explore the correlation between parents′ posttraumatic growth, mental resilience and family functioning in children with autism spectrum disorder. Methods:Using the convenience sampling method, 169 parents of children with autism spectrum disorders were selected. General data questionnaire, Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI), Conner-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD - RISC) and Family Assessment Device (FAD) were investigated. Results:The total PTGI score of parents of children with autism spectrum disorder was 58.79±18.92. The scores of appreciation of life, new possibilities, personal strength, relating to others and spiritual change were 19.49±6.15, 10.46±4.59, 9.05±3.32, 7.79±3.65, 12.01±3.83. The PTGI score of 37.3% parents was lower than 52, which was at a low level. Parents in the high score (> 74) group and the low score (< 52) group had statistically significant differences ( P<0.05) in the total score of CD - RISC and scores in all dimensions, as well as the differences in the scores of the four dimensions of FAD, namely problem solving, communication, role and behavior control. The total score of PTGI of parents was positively correlated with the total score of CD - RISC and the scores of its all dimensions ( r values were 0.201-0.317, P<0.05), and negatively correlated with the scores of Problem Solving, Communication and Behavioral Control of FAD ( r values were -0.233 - -0.196, P<0.05). Conclusions:The parents of children with autism spectrum disorder have an average level of posttraumatic growth. People with better mental resilience and healthier family functions have higher post-traumatic growth level.
