1.Differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells to chondrocytes and its applications in cartilage repair
International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2010;33(6):363-366,371
Articular cartilage as a load-bearing connective tissues may often be caused defects by trauma, sports, degenerative or age-related diseases. As articular cartilage has a limited inherent repair capacity, a large variety of treatment approaches including autologous chondrocyte transplantation, microfracture and mosaicplasty methods have been developed. However, there are limitations in these strategies especially when using autologous chondrcytes. Mesenchymal stem cells are considered the most promising seed cells in the study of tissue engineered cartilage. This review focuses on the induction of mesenchymal stem cells into chondrocytes in vitro and their application in cartilage repair.
2.Risk factors for symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage after intravenous thrombolysis in patients with acute ischemic stroke
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2016;24(10):924-929
Intravenous thrombolysis has been proved as an effective therapy for acute ischemic stroke. However, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) occurred after thrombolysis will affect the recovery of patients, even endangers life when it is serious. Therefore, determining the risk factors for sICH after thrombolysis is helpful to select appropriate patients for thrombolytic therapy. The risk factors for slCH after thrombolysis include advanced age, male gender, obesity, higher National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale scores, hypertension, diabetes or higher blood glucose, atrial fibrillation, delayed thrombolysis time, antiplatelet therapy, anticoagulation therapy, and leukoaraiosis. However, some of the risk factors still have conflicting reports.Further large sample clinical studies are needed to confirm them.

The porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) can cause reproductive barriers in breeding pigs and respiratory symptoms in piglets. In this review, we summarize research progress of the infection and replication mechanisms of the PRRSV. We also review the virulence determinants of the PRRSV. All these fundamental studies are important for the control and elimination of the PRRSV.

Objective To observe the pituitary tumor transforming gene (PTTG), estradiol-stimulated protein 1 (ESP1) expressions in S, G 2/M phases in A549, SPC-A-1 cell lines. Methods The mammalian cells for cell cycle was synchronizated by thymidine, the total RNA in the S, G 2/M phases was collected, and the total RNA was observed by Real-time PCR. Results PTTG expression in A549 and SPC-A-1 cell lines was higher in S phase than that in G 2/M phase while no PTTG expression in MRC-5 cells in S, G 2/M phases. ESP1 expression in A549, SPC-A-1, MRC-5 cell lines was lower in S phase than that in G 2/M phase. Conclusion That no PTTG in S and G 2/M phases in the normal cell line and PTTG expression in the lung cancer cell line higher in S phase than that in G 2/M phase suggested that the aneuploidy may be caused by the overexpression of PTTG. ESP1 expression was lower in S phase than G 2/M phase in all of the three cell lines, suggesting that sister chromatids separation depend on the active ESP1.

Atherosclerosis is the most important pathological basis of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases. As an independent risk factor of atherosclerosis, fibrin(ogen) and its degradation products involve in the processes of the formation and development of atherosclerosis. This article reviews the relationship between fibrin(ogen) and/or its degradation products and atherosclerosis, and also introduces the development and application prospects for some specific motif antagonists of fibrin(ogen) in the treatment of atherosclerosis and ischemic cerebrovascular diseases.

Objective To evaluate the effect of driving forces similar to those found in dental plaque fluid on the enamel demineralization and ultrastructure of surface layer. Methods The sections of human enamel were exposed to lactic acid solutions with degree of saturation with respect to enamel and degree of saturation with respect to fluoroapatite for 96 h at 25 ℃,using the deionized water as control in the same conditions.Enamel demineralization was monitored using SEM and confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM).Results Only was enamel subsurface demineralization detected in solutions with DS_(EN)(0.1-0.3).Enamel mineral loss and micropores of surface layer decreased significantly with increasing DS_(EN) and DS_(FA) values. However,no mineral loss and micropores of surface layer was observed in sections of enamel exposed to solutions with DS_(EN) values of 0.4 and 0.5,which were covered with homogeneous remineralization layer. Conclusion The demineralization driving forces similar to dental plaque fluid under different DS_(EN) and DS_(FA) have significant effects on the surface layer of enamel and the subsurface demineralization process.

To adapt the developing requirement of clinical laboratory diagnostics, the Analysis Technique of Molecular Biology was set up for Grade 2003 in laboratory medicine in our college. The students showed great interests and enthusiasm in this subject, especially in laboratory course. The studentsof Grade 2003 made a better score than those of Grade 2002 in the final Test of Basic Experimental Skills, which included the scores of basic operation, experiment theory and technical skill. These results showed that setting up the Analysis Technique of Molecular Biology could improve student's ability in experimental skills.

OBJECTIVE:To systematically review the efficacy of isotretinoin in the treatment of acne vulgaris, and to provide evidence-based reference for clinical treatment. METHODS:Retrieved from PubMed, Cochrane Library, Wanfang, VIP and CJFD,randomized controlled trials (RCT) about isotretinoin (test group) versus viaminati, macrolides, tetracyclines antibiotics and other drugs (control group) in the treatment of acne vulgaris were collected. Meta-analysis was performed by using Rev Man 5.2 software after data extract and quality evaluation by Cochrane 5.1.0. RESULTS:Totally 28 RCTs were enrolled, involving 3 534 patients. Results of Meta-analysis showed, the total effective rate of isotretinoin was significantly higher than viaminati [RR=1.56, 95%CI(1.27,1.91),P<0.001],macrolides[RR=1.44,95%CI(1.31,1.58),P<0.001] and tetracyclines antibiotics [RR=3.05,95%CI(2.29,4.07),P<0.001];improvement of skin lesions scores was significantly better than control group [MD=0.33,95%CI(0.04, 0.62),P<0.05],the differences were statistically significant. Dry lips, cheilitis, dry skin and nasal mucosa and pruritus were the main adverse reactions, and no serious adverse reactions were showed. CONCLUSIONS:Isotretinoin has better efficacy and safety than viaminati, macrolides and tetracyclines antibiotics.

Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery 2001;0(01):-
Objective To evaluate our early results of a combined minimally invasive surgery with surgical procedures for critical extremity ischemia. Methods From July 1999 to October 2000 intraluminal iliac minimally invasive surgery combined with simultaneous conventional surgery were performed on 20 lower extremities of 15 pa- tients suffering from critical multilevel atherosclerotic occlusive disease. There were 11 men and 4 women with an aver- age age of 73 years. The indications for surgery included disabling claudication in 6, rest pain in 9(included tissue gan- grenes in 3)patients. Mean preoperative ankle - brachial index(ABI)was 0. 35 ? 0. 18. Results 17 iliac mini mal- ly invasive approaches combined with simultaneous 11 femoro - popliteal bypass and 3 femoro - femoral popliteal by- pass as well as 5 profundaplasty were performed in 20 limbs of 15 patients. minimally invasive surgery were technically successful in all patients. One femoral - popopliteal bypass was failure. There were no additional instances of procedural or postoperative morbidity or mortality, and no wound - related complications. Postoperative ABI of femoral - popliteal bypass was 0.74 ? 0. 16(p
