Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium test is the base of genetic epidemiology. The new methods for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium test involve: X chromosome-linked single nucleotide polymorphism Hardy-Weinberg test, inbreeding coefficient(F) test, an incomplete enumeration algorithm for an exact test of Hardy-Weinberg proportions with multiple alleles, and graphical tests for Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium based on the ternary plot. It is necessary to conduct Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium test in genetic epidemiology studies and adjust the associations as deviation of Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium occurs.

Objective To explore the pertinent communication strategy of health education for parasitic diseases.Methods A cross-sectional study was carried out.Before the health education intervention,the knowledge,attitude and practice(KAP)for parasitic diseases of 199 and 250 farmers in two provinces of Sichuan and Yunnan in southwest China were investigated with questionnaire by using the method of PPS.Results Most of the farmers used the simple and crude toilets and their health status were poor,and there were only 7.57% of people having the bio-gas facilities.The awareness rate of the knowledge on malnutrition caused by parasitic diseases was 34.30% and the awareness rate of knowledge about anemia caused by parasitic diseases was 29.62%.There were 81.74% of farmers who believed helminthic drug and 74.61% of people who tended to buy drug by themselves.The health knowledge of the residents mainly came from the interpersonal communication and TV,and the farmers preferred TV,poster and brochure to get the health knowledge.Conclusion The health education with posters,TV and intervention communication is one of the important measures to control parasitic diseases.

Lithospermum has been widely used in clinic for a long time. It can lower the levels of follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone in blood serum and inhibit ovulation, thus causing infertility. Due to its effect of lowering chorionic gonadotropin, restraining the development of corpus luteum graviditatis and interfering the growth of uterus and the supply of embryotrophy, Lithospermum has been confirmed to be effective in termination of pregnancy and herb abortion. Therefore Lithospermum can not be used in those who intend to conceive or do not need to terminate pregnancy. The authors suggest that the influence of Lithospermum on pregnancy should be studied objectively and should be emphasized in clinical teaching of traditional Chinese medicine to ensure the correct and reasonable application of Lithospermum.

Objective To compare the speech recognition by severe - to - profound hearing - impaired children using digital hearing aids and microlink FM system.Methods Hearing - impaired children were given respectively bilateral 100% omnidirection digital hearing aids, bilateral 100% omnidirection digital hearing aids and lateral FM system, bilateral 100% omnidirection digital hearing aids and bilateral FM system in noise and quiet environment. Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different anesthetic drugs and techniques on serum SIL-2R, IL-6 and TNF-? in cancer patients undergoing elective thoracic surgery, trying to find a reasonable anesthesia for patients with compromised immune function. Methods Eighteen ASA Ⅰ-Ⅱ cancer patients(male 12, female 6) undergoing elective thoracic surgery were studied. The age ranged from 46-47 years. 6 patients suffered from lung cancer and 12 from cancer of esophagus or cardia. The patients received no radio-or chemotherapy before surgery. They were premedicated with intramuscular pethidine 50mg and atropine 0.5mg. Esophogus and cardia cancer patients were randomly divided into two groups: group Ⅱ and Ⅱ . Group Ⅲconsisted of only lung cancer patients. Group I received general anesthesia combined with continuous epidural block and postoperative epidural analgesia. An epidural catheter was inserted at T7-8 or T8.9 before general anesthesia. Anesthesia was induced with 2% thiopental sodium 5mg kg-1 and vecuronimn 0.06-0 .08mg kg-1 and maintained with 1%-2% isoflurane inhalation with epidural 2% lidocaine 6-7m1o h-1 . After operation epidural analgesia was produced with 0.125% bupivacaine 5-6ml h-1 for 72 h. In group Ⅱ the induction of general anesthesia was the same as in group Ⅰ , but anesthesia was maintained with ketamine infusion 1-2mg kg-1h-1 and epidural 2% lidocaine 6-7ml h-1. Postoperative analgesia was produced with epidural 0.1% bupivacaine + 0.0003% fentanyl 5-6m1o h-1 for 72 h. In group Ⅲ the induction and maintenance of anesthesia were the same as in group Ⅱ but postoperative analgesia was produced with epidural 0.1 % ketamine 4-5ml h-1. Blood samples were taken from peripheral vein before anesthesia, before and 2 h after skin incision and on the 1st, 3rd and 5th day after operation for determination of serum SIL-2R, IL-6 and TNF-? by ELISA(Genozyme Co) Results The serum SIL-2R, IL-6 and TNF-? levels were comparable before anesthesia and operation among the three groups. Computer-administered neurobehavioral evaluation system (NES)was developed based on the neurobehavioral core test battery (NCTB)recommended by WHO/NIOSH in 1985. Compared with NCTB,the reliability and validity of NES was much improved and some disadvantages of NCTB were made up in NES. This article reviewed the history of NES development,its application in the evaluation of children's neurobehavioral functions and its defects. The studies suggested that some items of NES test,such as finger tapping,continuous performance test and hand-eye coordination,could be used to evaluate earlier damage induced by chemicals on neurobehavioral functions of children.

Objective:To explore the associations of menopause with cardiovascular disease (CVD) and related metabolic disorders (including hypertension,diabetes or higher blood sugar,obesity,dyslipi-demia)in Chinese females aged 45 -59 years .Methods:Data were acquired from a national cross-sectional survey conducted in 201 3,China,which was also the second follow-up survey of China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).In the study,4 702 Chinese perimenopausal women aged 45 -59 years were enrolled,including 1 769 premenopausal women and 2 933 postmenopausal women.Information was collected from questionnaires of health status and functioning and physical exa-mination.General liner models were employed to calculate age-adjusted or age-and-body-mass-index-adjusted or multiple-factor-adjusted means and their 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs)of cardiovas-cular risk factors (CRFs).The comparisons of CVD and its risk factors according to menopausal status, and calculation of adjusted odds ratios (ORs)and their 95%CIs for the associations of menopause with CVD and its risk factors were performed by multivariate Logistic regression models separately.Results:After adjustment for age and other confounders (including body mass index,marriage,education,current smoking,drink alcohol more than once per month),statistically significant associations of menopause with cardiovascular disease,which referred to having a history of heart disease or stroke in this study, were observed in the participants (OR =1 .34,95% CI:1 .04 -1 .74);prevalence of hypertension (OR =1 .42,95%CI:1 .1 0 -1 .84),prevalence of CRFs clustering number≥2 (OR =1 .31 ,95%CI:1 .02 -1 .68)and average waist circumference level (87.1 1 cm,95%CI:86.81 -87.42 cm in post-menopausal group vs.86.41 cm,95%CI:85.99 -86.84 cm in premenopausal group)were presented higher in postmenopausal group,compared with the premenopausal one.However,diabetes or higher blood sugar (OR =0.96,95%CI:0.60 -1 .52),dyslipidemia (OR =0.84,95%CI:0.59 -1 .20) and obesity (OR =1 .06,95%CI:0.86 -1 .32)were not shown significantly statistically related to me-nopause,after excluding effect of age and other confounders.Conclusion:Postmenopausal women in China had worse CRFs profile than the premenopausal ones,which implied menopause might aggravate the CRFs epidemic and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease beyond effects of aging,which would increase the CVD burden during and after their middle ages.

Objective To retrospectively investigate diagnostic and therapeutic value of intradiscal steroid injection in patients with discogenic low back pain combined with radial fissure of annulus fibrosis.Methods Totally 120 patients who had undergone CT guided intervertebral discography and steroid injections,including 72 males and 48 females,aged from 25 to 60 years (average,48 years),were recruited to this study.According to Dallas discography description system,7 cases were rated as grade 0,36 grade 1,48grade 2,and 29 grade 3.The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) were used to evaluate clinical effect at 2 weeks,2 months,6 months,12 months and 24 months postoperatively.Results Most of patients who underwent steroid injection in single highly suspect diseased disc claimed significant symptom improvement.There were statistically significant differences between pre- and post-operative VAS and RMDQ.The clinical effect in grade 3 group was better than those in grade 1 and grade 2 groups,and the differences were significant.Patients with severe disc disruption (grade 3) had a lower recurrence rate of low back pain compared with other patients.Conclusion Intradiseal steroid injection not only can significantly relieve discogenic low back pain,but also can benefit diagnosis of discogenic low back pain,especially in patients who fail to reproduce concordant pain on discography.For patients with severe rupture of the annulus fibrosus,the relief of discogenic low back pain is more significant.

Objective To investigate the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on EC50 of propofol given by TCI which produces loss of consciousness (LOC) in breast cancer patients.Methods Ninety ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ breast cancer patients aged 30-60 yr scheduled for elective surgery were allocated into 3 groups according to the chemotherapy the patients received (n=30 each):group Ⅰ control (group C) received no chemotherapy;group Ⅱ taxol and group Ⅲ adriamycine+cyclophosphamide+5-Fu.The patients were unpremedicated.The EC50 of propofol given by TCI was determined by up-and-down technique.The initial effect-site concentration (Ce) of propofol was 2.07μg/ml and the ratio between the 2 successive Ce was 1.09.Loss of response to verbal command and eyelash stimulation was used as sighs of LOC.The EC50 of propofol was calculated.Results The EC50 of propofol causing LOC was significantly lower in group Ⅱ and Ⅲ than in control group.There was no significant difference in the EC50 of propofol which produces LOC between group Ⅱ and Ⅲ.Conclusion The EC50 of propofol causing LOC in breast cancerpatients is decreased by adjuvant chemotherapy.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in the nasal mucosa of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polys patients, and explored the regulation of clarithromycin on VEGF. METHOD: RT-PCR was used to detect the expression of VEGF in nasal mucosa from healthy control and CRSwNP. Nasal mucosal tissue explant culture measure and ELISA were used to explore the effect of clarithromycin on VEGF expression. RESULT: (1) VEGF mRNA expression level was significantly increased in CRSwNP compared with control and showed a statistic difference (P < 0.01). (2) There was a significant decrease in CRSwNP group undergo clarithromycin treatment on protein expression level of VEGF and showed a statistic difference (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION VEGF were overexpressed in CRSwNP group, which presume that play an important role in the pathogenesis of nasal polyps. Clarithromycin may play a therapeutical role on chronic rhinosinusitis through down-regulated the expression of VEGF.
