Journal of Environment and Health 1992;0(04):-
Objective To study the effects of monosodium glutamate on viability and fertility of filial generation Drosophila. Methods Different concentrations(15,30,45 g/L)of L,H,T monosodium glutamate(MSG)were added in the medium for wildtype Drosophila melanogaster, and the non-MSG medium was taken as the control group,3 pairs of Drosophilas in each bottle and 3 repeats in each group, the first and second filial generation adult Drosophila's eclosion time(growth period) and the number of offspring within 7 days(reproduction quantity),and the death count in 30 days of 20 Drosophilas were observed and recorded. Results Compared with the control group, the reproduction quantity of Drosophila significantly increased, the growth period shortened in the first filial generation in 15 g/L of T MSG group. As the MSG concentrations increased, the reproduction quantity reduced significantly, the survival rate of Drosophila in 30 days declined significantly. The reproduction quantity in second filial generation increased at the initial stage of exposure and then decreased as the MSG concentrations increased. Conclusion The results of the present paper indicates that low-dose of MSG may be the advantage for survival and reproduction of Drosophila, but high doses will produce adverse effects.

Objective:To investigate the variation of the drug resistance of Escherichia coli(Eco)against antibacterial in clinical specimens in the hospital, and to evaluate the simultaneous use of antibacterial, to explore to provide the reference for the reasonable clinical use of antibacterial. Method:Eco was separated from all kinds of clinical specimens of out-patients and in-patients in the hospital from August of 2005 to April of 2006,and ESBLs was detected with Kirby-Bauer (K-B) disk diffusion method. It was also counted that the antibacterial drugs ranked the first 30 in sales per month and their use frequencies in the same period in the hospital. Result:The detectable rate of producing ESBLs Eco was 58.6%. Eco was completely sensitive to imipenem. It had lower resistance rates, only 2% and 4% , against piperacillin/tazobactam and cefoperazone/sulbactam; and had 59% and 55% resistance rates respectively against cefotaxime claforan and ceftazidime pentahydrate in the third generation cephalosporin. The third generation cephalosporin and quinolones kept high in sales and their use frequencies ranked the first three. The use of the third generation cephalosporin with anhydrase inhibitors also had an uptrend. Conclusion:There is a direct relation between the use of a great deal of antibacterial and the imitative drug resistance of Eco. It is necessary to strengthen its clinical management and to raise the level of drug use.

BACKGROUND:Many experiments have demonstrated that tissue engineering scaffolds prepared by polymer materials alone or biomaterials cannot meet the requirement of tissue engineering research.
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate biological characteristics and cel affinity of poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyoctanoate)/col agen composite scaffold.
METHODS:Tissue engineering scaffolds were prepared by combination of poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyoctanoate) and col agen at different proportions (2%, 4%, 6%, 8%and 10%) using solvent casting/particulate leaching method. Inner structure and apertures were observed by scanning electron microscope, and the porosity was determined by liquid displacement method. Rabbit chondrocytes were co-cultured with poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyoctanoate)/col agen composite scaffold and poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyoctanoate) scaffold. Growth curve of cel s was determined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay, and cel adhesion on the scaffolds was observed by scanning electron microscope.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The pore size and porosity of the composite scaffold were about 200μm and (85±2)%, respectively. The cel affinity dynamical y increased with the increasing of proportion of col agen. Compared with the poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyoctanoate) scaffold, the poly(hydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyoctanoate)/col agen composite scaffolds are better to improve cel adhesion and proliferation, with favorable cel ular affinity.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Yitieling Paste (YTLP). METHODS: YTLP and aspirin (as a control drug) were introduced to treat the edematous ears of mice induced by xylene and swollen toes of mice induced by carrageenin, and to relieve the pain in mice induced by heat and acetic acid. The swelling degree, pain threshold and body distortions were measured. RESULTS: The repression rates of the ear edema in groups of YTLP of high and low dosages and the aspirin group were 67.92%, 52.52% and 58.28%, respectively. The repression rate of the toe swelling in YTLP high dosage group was higher than that of the aspirin group, which was higher than that of the YTLP low dosage group. The results of analgesic effect of the three YTLP-treated groups showed that with the increase of dosage, the pain thresholds were higher and higher, and the body distortions were lower and lower. The pain thresholds of high and medium dosage YTLP groups were near to the aspirin group. CONCLUSION: YTLP possesses a strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect.
