In this study the umbilical artery and uterine artery blood flow was measured by Acuson 128 color computer ultrasound in 90 healthy pregnant women, and the reference ranges and mathematical models of its indices were established. The variation of observers and measurement time and the effect of different areas of the same vessel on measured blood flow values were also studied. The results show reducing of resistance and increasing of blood flow of the umbilical and uterine arteries in healthy pregnancy with increased gestational age. Doppler blood flow measurement has a good repeatability and is worth while to be used universally. The Doppler signals shound be recorded from near placenta part of umbilical artery and upper branch of uterine artery in a side near to placenta.

Flow cytometry analysis of DNA ploidy level and S-phase fraction (SPF) was carried out in 24 snap-forzen tissue specimens of ovarian carcinoma. The relationship of DNA ploidy level and SP-F with age, clinical stage, ascites, histologic type, pathological grade, lymphocyte infiltration and psammoma bodies was analyzed. Results showed that the relationship of DNA ploidy level and SPF with ascites and pathological grade was significant. Aneuploid portion and SPF in patients with ascites or pathological grade Ⅲ or Ⅱ were higher than those in patients with no ascites or pathological grade I. The author considers that DNA ploidy level and SPF of ovarian carcinoma can serve as a relatively independent objective index which reflects tumor's biological behaviours, and will be of great auxiliary value to early diagnosis and therapy of ovarian carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of mental problems in adolescents is increasingly higher and has gradually become an important factor affecting their health and growth.OBJECTIVE: To probe into the mental health status and its influencing factors in adolescents in some cities and rural areas in Hubei Province.DESIGN: Clustering stratified random sampling, cross-sectional survey.SETTING: Department of Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.PARTICIPANTS: According to the selected investigation spots of National Surveillance of Constitution and Health of Students, we selected representative urban areas (Wuhan City and Huangshi City) and rural areas (Yun County, Xiantao City, and Xiaogan City) in Hubei Province as sample spots. Totally 1 498 adolescents, aged 16-18 years, were surveyed by clustering stratified random sampling. There were 605 adolescents in urban group and 893 in rural group.METHODS: The self-made survey scale was used to investigate general conditions, such as age, parents' occupation and educational level, family type, social atmosphere, school type and atmosphere, and interpersonal relationship. Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90) was used to determine the adolescents' mentalhealth status; 9 subscales (somatization, obsessivecompulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety, paranoid ideation, and psychosis) were set as the observation indexes. SCL-90 is an inventory which is rated on a 5-point scale. Factor score of SCL-90 ≥ 3 or total score ≥ 160 was considered mental disorders. The family educational pattern was investigated through Egma Minnen av Bardndosnaupporstran(EMBU) by questionnaires. It contained positive rearing pattern and negative rearing pattern. Positive rearing pattern (namely, affectional warmth and understanding) contributes to mental health, while negative rearing pattern (e.g. punishment, firm control, excessive interference, partialism or rejection, denial and excessive protection) is adverse to mental health. The family environment was investigated with Family Environment Scale(FES). Four subscales (intimacy, conflict, intellectual-cultural orientation, and positive-recreational orientation) with high reliability and validity were set as indexes. All participants were given unified instructions and required to fill in anonymous questionnaires. The questionnaires were then collected by the teacher in charge of the class. Some indexes of adolescents in the urban and rural areas were observed including the score of SCL-90 and its relation with general conditions, parental rearing pattern and family environment quality. The total scores of symptom checklist 90 were set as dependent variables for stepwise regression analysis of related factors.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:①The incidence of mental health ,gender and regional difference of adolescents in some cities and rural areas in Hubei province; ②The score of SCL-90 and its comparison with national norm;③Correlation analysis of the total scores of SCL-90 with general condition and parents' educational type.RESULTS: ① The general incidence of mental disorders was 18.13 % in the 1 498 adolescents in Hubei province. It was 18.20% in boys and 18.04% in girls with no significant difference (P > 0.05). Regional differences: The incidence in rural areas [23.74% (212/893)] was significantly higher than that in urban areas [16.69% (101/605), P < 0.05]. Among all kinds of mental disorders, compulsion, interpersonal sensitivity, hostility, paranoid ideation, and depression were more common. ② Comparison with the national norm: The factor scores of SCL-90 and family environmentalquality were significantly lower that those of the national norm.③ Single factor analysis: The total score of SCL-90 was obviously correlated with age, gender, parents' educational level and expectation, and school atmosphere (P > 0.01). It was negatively correlated with positive rearing pattern (affectional warm, understanding) (P > 0.01), but positively correlated with negative rearing pattern (punishment, firm control, excessive interference, partialism or rejection, and denial). It had significant positive correlation with conflict and significant negative correlation with intimacy, intellectualcultural orientation and positive-recreational orientation(P > 0.01).④Multiple factor analysis: The mental health status of the students was closely related to age, gender, parents' educational level and expectation, interpersonal sensitivity as well as school atmosphere, parental rearing pattern, and quality of family environment.CONCLUSION: The incidence of mental problems in adolescents in some urban and rural areas in Hubei Province is relatively high. Score factors of SCL-90 are all higher than those of the national norm and the mental health level is poor. This has obvious correlation with family factors including age, gender, parents' educational level and expectation, and school atmosphere. Moreover, the quality of family environment and parental rearing pattern are the major factors affecting their mental health.

In order to research into the relationship between atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), aldosterone (Aldo) and pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), as well as normal pregnancy, the plasma concentrations of ANP and Aldo from normal pregnant women. PIH patients and their fetuses were measured by radioimmunoassay. It was found that maternal venous Aldo and ANP were higher in normal pregnant women than those in non-pregnant women. The plasma ANP was higher in PIH patients than that in normal pregnant women while plasma Aldo was lower. The plasma concentration of ANP was higher in the fetuses of PIH patients than that in the normal controls, but Aldo was lower. It is concluded that ANP concentration correlates significantly to the severity of PIH, and may be used for an early diagnosis of PIH.

Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of recombinant human brain natriuretic peptide (rhBNP) in the patients with severe heart failure (HF). Methods A prospective multicenter study was conducted. Patients whose age > 18 years old, and with the New York Heart Association (NYHA) cardiac function grade overⅢ - Ⅳ , acute cardiac insufficiency and the acute exacerbation of chronic cardiac insufficiency admitted to intensive care unit/cardiovascular care unit (ICU/CCU) of 58 Hospitals in China were enrolled. On the basis of the conventional treatment, all patients would be given rhBNP (neo adjuvant) with a loading dose of 1.5 μg/kg for 3-5 minutes, and followed by a maintenance dose of 0.010-0.015 μg·kg-1·min-1 for 3-7 days. Before the treatment and 1, 3, 7 days after treatment, researchers detected indexes of cardiac and renal function, the levels of N-terminal B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), cardiac output (CO), pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP), central venous pressure (CVP), urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (SCr), and urine output; the renal function index was re-evaluated at 30 days after administration, and the time entering ICU again, re-admission, cardiovascular events were recorded. Results 408 patients were enrolled, with 241 males and 167 females. Age range was 28-95 years, the average age was (63.0±15.8) years, and 50-70 years old accounted for 46.8%. Compared with the data before treatment, NT-proBNP, PCWP and CVP significantly decreased at 6 hours after treatment [NT-proBNP (μg·kg-1·min-1): 4378.58±4082.29 vs. 6403.41±5759.48, PCWP (mmHg, 1 mmHg = 0.133 kPa):12.41±2.21 vs. 14.26±2.85 , CVP (mmHg): 10.63±2.62 vs. 11.45±3.45, all P < 0.05], and with the prolongation of injection, NT-proBNP, PCWP and CVP were gradually declined; CO 1 day after treatment (mL: 4.89±0.81 vs. 4.40±0.92) and LVEF 3 days after treatment (0.465±0.100 vs. 0.431±0.107) were significantly increased (both P < 0.05), and with the prolongation of injection, CO and LVEF were gradually increased. There were no obvious changes in BUN and SCr during the treatment, but 30 days after treatment, SCr was significantly lower than that pre-treatment (μmol/L: 110.98±47.40 vs. 132.62±75.60, P < 0.01). Compared with the data pre-treatment, urine output per hour was significantly increased at 3 hours after treatment (mL: 129.59±82.16 vs. 89.60±53.49, P =0.000); urine output every 24 hours was significantly increased at day 1 and day 2 after administration (mL: 2676.54± 1006.83, 2678.74±975.97 vs. 2150.36±283.76, both P < 0.01). In 7 days, the re-entry ICU rate was 2.7%, and the re-hospitalization rate was 2.88% within 30 days, re-cardiac failure rate was 1.43% in 30 days, and the overall fatality rate was 9.55% in 30 days. Conclusions The rhBNP can significantly improve heart function in patients with HF. And, it has a certain effect on renal function. The rhBNP is effective and safe for the treatment of cardiac insufficiency.
