Objective:To study the feasibility of 3-D reconstruction model in the observation of tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin(TCDD) effected palatal organ development of fetal mouse. Methods:Kunming mice treated 40 ug/kg TCDD by lavage on day 12.5 of pregnancy were used as in the experimental group, isodose corn oil treated in the control group. On day 13.5,14.5 and 15.5 of pregnancy heads of the fetal mice were taken out and fixed.Conventional paraffin serial sections of palatal organ were preparated and dyed by hematoxylin-eosin,images of the palatal organs were collected and photoshop treated,3-D reconstruction of the palatal organ was performed by 3D-DOCTOR software.Results:3-D reconstruction images showed that palatal organs moved from on both sides above the tongue and gradually closed and merged in the control group. In the experimental group, the palatal organs moved from on both sides above the tongue was later than control group, gradually closed, but not merged, formed cleft palate.Conclusion:3D-DOCTOR software reconstruction can be used for the study of the development process effected by TCDD in the pregnant mouse.

Objective:To investigate the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and response time of cardioinhibitory type vasovagal syncope (VVS-CI) in children. Methods:The clinical data of 56 children with syncope or pre-syncope were retrospectively analyzed and they visited specialist clinic for syncope and were diagnosed as VVS-CI in the Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University from December 2012 to September 2019.Based on height and weight, BMI was calculated, and divided into low BMI group (35 cases) and normal BMI group (21 cases). Between the 2 groups, baseline heart rate, head-up tilt test (HUTT) positive response heart rate, baseline head-up tilt test (BHUT) positive response time, and sublingual nitroglycerin-provocated HUTT (SNHUT) positive response time were compared. The correlation between BMI and positive response time was analyzed.SPSS 22.0 software was applied for statistical analysis. Results:There were no significant differences in age, sex, duration of disease and number of syncope between the 2 groups (all P>0.05). No significant differences were found in baseline heart rate and positive response heart rate between the 2 groups [(78.5±15.3) times/min vs.(72.8±8.7) times/min, t=1.223, P=0.230; (44.0±13.9) times/min vs.(47.0±10.0) times/min, t=-0.664, P=0.511]. Compared with normal BMI group, BHUT positive patients/SNHUT positive patients were higher in low BMI group (27/8 cases vs.9/12 cases, χ2=4.839, P=0.027), and the positive response time of BHUT was shorter [(13.1±4.6) min vs.(23.7±9.5) min, t=-2.691, P=0.023]. There were no significant differences in SNHUT positive response time between the 2 groups ( P>0.05). Low BMI was correlated with BHUT positive response time ( r=0.750, P=0.005). Normal BMI was not associated with BHUT positive response time ( r=0.316, P=0.217). There was no correlation between low BMI and normal BMI and SNHUT positive response time ( r=0.177, P=0.431; r=0.021, P=0.940). Conclusions:Low BMI is positively correlated with BHUT positive response time of children with VVS-CI.The time it takes for syncope occurrence was shorter in children with low BMI than that in normal BMI.
3.Advances in treatment of acute appendicitis in children
International Journal of Pediatrics 2020;47(8):531-534
Acute appendicitis is one of the most common acute abdominal diseases in pediatric surgery.Appendectomy is the standard of care for the treatment of acute appendicitis in children and its curative effect is definite. With the improvement of endoscopic techniques, laparoscopic appendectomy has become a mainstream operation in the recent years. However, individual therapy based on disease progression is attracting more and more attention, which has led to new questions. The management of these questions has not formed consensus at present, such as conclusion timing, operative methods, treatment of appendiceal abscess and effect of non-operative management. This review summarizes the treatment progress of acute appendicitis in children.

Esophageal squamous-cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most lethal malignancies in the world and occurs at particularly higher frequency in China. While several genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of germline variants and whole-genome or whole-exome sequencing studies of somatic mutations in ESCC have been published, there is no comprehensive database publically available for this cancer. Here, we developed the Chinese Cancer Genomic Database-Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (CCGD-ESCC) database, which contains the associations of 69,593 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with ESCC risk in 2022 cases and 2039 controls, survival time of 1006 ESCC patients (survival GWAS) and gene expression (expression quantitative trait loci, eQTL) in 94 ESCC patients. Moreover, this database also provides the associations between 8833 somatic mutations and survival time in 675 ESCC patients. Our user-friendly database is a resource useful for biologists and oncologists not only in identifying the associations of genetic variants or somatic mutations with the development and progression of ESCC but also in studying the underlying mechanisms for tumorigenesis of the cancer. CCGD-ESCC is freely accessible at http://db.cbi.pku.edu.cn/ccgd/ESCCdb.
