Infection of Entamoeba histolytica with chytridiaceous fungus Sphaerlta was observed in some specimens obtained from a farmer and stained with iron-haematoxylin. The fungi were found in 78% of tne cysts, mostly immature ones. Within the amoebae this parasite occurred singly, in groups, or in the form of a sporangium. It was located in the cytoplasm, the glycogen mass or the chromatoidal bars.In the same specimen, the parasitic fungus was also found in 18% of E. coli cysts; in 11% of E. nana cysts; while only one of 16 E. hartmanni cysts was parasitized.It is an interesting case of superimposed parasitism so far reported in China as well as a rare rase of several species of amoebae being heavily involved with the same in the scientific literarure.

ObjectiveTo investigate the expression and distribution of epidermal growth factor (EGF), transforming growth factor-α(TGF-α), basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β) and platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF) mRNA in the corneal epithelium and stroma of rabbit eyes, and evaluate their effects during corneal wound healing.MethodsThe expression and distribution of EGF, TGF-α, bFGF, TGF-β1 and PDGF mRNA in the corneal epithelium and stroma of rabbit eyes were detected by in situ hybridization.Results EGF,TGF-α and PDGF mRNA were only expressed in the normal corneal epithelium, but not in the corneal stroma. bFGF and TGF-β1 mRNA were expressed both in the normal corneal epithelium and stroma. ConclusionEGF, TGF-α, bFGF, TGF-β1 and PDGF can be excreted by cornea tissue,and regulate the corneal wound healing procedure.

Objective To discuss the treatment efficacy of the femoral-head osteonecrosis by umbrella strut bone grafting and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Methods The femoral-head osteonecrosis models on one side were established in forty-two goats using liquid nitrogen, which were randomly classified into three groups after 8 weeks. Group A were conducted umbrella strut bone grafting and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells transplantation, group B were conducted simple unit side muscle bone flap grafting, and group C were conducted umbrella strut bone grafting and Cancellous bone grafting transplantation. The health side of three groups was treated as self-control. The radiological and histology examination were made at 3,6treated lateral femoral-head shape restored,cystic cnlow-density area disappeared, the original collapse had repaired, and no further collapse of the femoral-head shaped for both group A and B. Bone fusion was good and bone column shadow had been vague for group A, while the bone fusion healed somewhat less and bone column shadow still clear for group B. Group C had irregular contour of femoral head, flat collapse, uneven density, and fracture cracks could be seen at weight-bearing area of femoral head, obviously was the poorest bone had different states: mature and arranged ruled for group A, childish and irregular arrangement for group B, thinning, sparse and fracture for group C. The percentage of empty lacunae counts decreased, while the percentage of trabecular bone area fraction increased for group A. In contrast with group B, and C, the difference was statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05), but the difference was no longer statistically significant when contrast with healthy sides (P ＞ 0.05). 6 months later, the radiological and histology examination showed that:group A and group B had been no significant difference comparing to normal femoral heads, while the femoral head of group C collapsed and disappeared completely. Group A and group B were no difference comparing the healthy side (P ＞ 0.05)in the area fraction of trabecualr bone and percentage of empty lacunae counts, neither it was between group A and group B(P ＞ 0. 05). Conclusion The treatment efficacy of the femoral-head osteonecrosis by umbrella strut bone grafting and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells was good and was better than cancellous bone grafting transplantation and simple unit side muscle bone flap grafting.

Objective:To investigate gypsum fibrosum from different habitats by scanning electron microscopy ( SEM) . Methods:Gypsum fibrosum samples from different habitats were scanned by an electronic microscope. Results: The results of SEM showed that gypsum fibrosum (CaSO4·2H2O) from different habitats was with the crystal structure of fibrous,tabular or flaky aggregation. The sur-face amplification of gypsum fibrosum from Hubei showed obvious black spots,while that from the other habitats was without the feature. Conclusion:The method is simple and accurate, which can be used to investigate gypsum fibrosum from different habitats.

Objective:To understand the development reality of pastes in Hubei province through the investigation of paste busi-ness in 2013. Methods:Issued by Hubei provincial administration of traditional Chinese medicine, a questionnaire investigation was a-dopted in the study. The implementation, usage amount, scope, composition of the users, price, technical personnel and propaganda of pastes were investigated and statistically analyzed in 91 TCM, integrated Chinese and western and national hospitals in our province. Results:The business conduction rate of pastes in Hubei province was nearly 61. 54% in 2013 with the production of approximately 45,000 batches and the technical personnel of 1 538. The paste business created great economic value of 0. 48 million yuan in 2013 with strengthened propaganda. However, the brand building was slightly weak. Conclusion:The business of pastes in Hubei province has developed rapidly and still shows great development potential.

Objective To explore the clinical features of spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) headache. Methods Thirty-six cases with SIH headache who were admitted between August 2009 and September 2014 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Twenty-five (69.4%) of 36 cases were female, and 11 cases (30.6%) were male. The age of onset was (39.6 ± 11.9) years. All the cases had headache, among whom 91.7% (33/36) had typical postural headache. The common concomitant symptoms were nausea, vomiting and neck stiffness. The average cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pressure was (45.3 ± 28.6) mmH2O (1 mmH2O=0.009 8 kPa) which in male was (67.4 ± 15.4) mmH2O , and in female was (37.3 ± 28.2) mmH2O, and there was significant difference (P<0.05). The content of CSF protein was (545.6 ± 377.1) mg/L and the level of IgG was (57.4 ± 41.1) mg/L. Seventeen cases showed abnormality on MRI scan, with diffuse pachymeningeal enhancement, subdural hematoma, hyperemia and swelling pituitary. Eleven cases (52.4%, 11/21) showed abnormal on EEG examination, with theta waves and epiletiform waves in bilateral cerebral hemisphere. All cases were cured after conservative treatment, 3 cases relapsed within 1 month and was cured again. Conclusions Typical postural headache, cerebrospinal fluid pressure less than 60 mmH2O, higher levels of CSF protein and IgG, diffuse pachymeningeal enhancement and hyperemia and swelling pituitary on MRI scan are the main features in SIH headache, and this disease has favorable prognosis.

Objective To explore the factors which could lead to a preoperative diagnosis and to guide the management of cholecystoduodenal fistula (CDF).Method The experience on the diagnosis and treatment of 22 patients with CDF were retrospectively studied.These patients came from 1242 patients who received biliary tract operation in our hospital from 2001 to 2012.Results 64％ (14 of 22 patients) had 3 out of 5 of the following symptoms/signs:(1) symptoms of recurrent chills and fever,with no or only mild jaundice; (2) significant atrophy or disappearance of gallbladder on computed tomography (CT) ; (3) CT revealed complex anatomy in right upper abdomen with dilated loops of bowel; (4) ultrasound or CT revealed pneumobilia or pneumo-gallbladder; (5) barium study or duodenal endoscopy revealed obvious deformation in duodenal bulb or abnormal opening.There was no perioperative death.Morbidities included biliary fistula which presented on postoperative day 6 and day 7 in 2 patients,respectively.The daily volume of bile drainage was about 500 ml,and the biliary fistula healed after a month of conservative treatment.In addition,there were 6 patients who had infected wound,8 patients with right pleural effusion,and 8 patients with residual calculi.There was no intestinal fistula or biliary stricture.Conclusions Careful preoperative history taking and CT/uhrasound studies significantly improved the diagnostic rate of CDF.Individualized treatment reduced complications and improved clinical results.

Objective To study the morphological change of Schistosoma japonicum eggs processed by calcium cyanamide synthetic drug,so as to provide the basis for further study of the mechanism that calcium cyanamide synthetic drug to schisto?some eggs. Methods The calcium cyanamide synthetic drug was added to the cattle feces containing schistosome eggs and mixed up,and then the cattle feces was stacked as original shape on the marshland. Blank controls were set at the same time. The cattle feces samples were collected and the schistosome eggs were observed under a microscope on the 1st,2nd,3rd,7th day after the experiment. Results By the effect of calcium cyanamide synthetic drug,the color of eggs was deepening gradual?ly,the miracidia were atrophied,and the shells of eggs were thickened. The embryonic membrane of miracidia was no longer completed 3 days later,and the miracidia were deformed severely 7 days later. The atrophy of miracidia was not obvious in the blank controls. Conclusion The schistosome miracidia and embryonic membrane can be damaged by the calcium cyanamide synthetic drug,and worse damaged with time extending.

OBJECTIVE: To explore new hallmarks affecting the prognosis of patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) via investigating the expression of CyclinE and p27 in LSCC tissues. METHOD: The expression of CyclinE and p27 was detected via Elivision immunohistochemical staining in 160 LSCC tissues and 20 normal laryngeal tissues (NLT). The relationship between CyclinE/ p27 and LSCC/ NLT was analyzed via Log-rank analysis. The relationship of CyclinE and p27 protein was statistically analyzed by spearman correlation analysis. The relationship between CyclinE/p27 and clinical-pathology-factors of patients with LSCC, such as age, gender, tumor site, diameter, differentiation, lymph node metastasis and PTNM stage were analyzed by Chi-square test. The relationship between clinical-pathology-factors, CyclinE, p27 and overall survival time of patients with LSCC was analyzed via Cox multiplicity and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. A significant difference was recognized by P<0.05. RESULT: In LSCC the positive rates of CyclinE and p27 protein was 62.50% and 41.25% respectively (P<0.05). In NLT the positive rates of CyclinE and p27 protein was 35% and 70% respectively (P<0.05). The expression of CyclinE or p27 protein was closely correlated with lymph node metastasis, PTNM stage of patients with LSCC (P<0.05). The expression of CyclinE and p27 had no significant correlations with patients' gender, age and tumor site, diameter differentiation (P>0.05 for all). A negative correlation was found between the expression of CyclinE and p27 protein, r= -0.767(P<0.05). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the overall survival rate of patients with LSCC was 36.9% (P<0.05). The 5-year survival rate in positive group of CyclinE was 8%, in negative group was 80% (P<0.05). On the contrary, the 5-year survival rate of patients with LSCC in positive group of p27 protein was 77.27%, the rate was 5.32% in negative group (P<0.05). Cox multivariate regression analysis revealed that lymph node metastasis, PTNM stage, CyclinE and p27 were independent risk factors of prognosis for patients with LSCC. CONCLUSION It is the molecular basis underlying the development and invasion/ metastasis of LSCC that activation of CyclinE gene accompanying inactivation of p27 gene. It is very important of co-detecting CyclinE and p27 protein to predict the prognosis of patients with LSCC.
