Objective To assess the association between air pollution and daily mortality of circulatory system diseases. Methods All death records of the deceased who lived in urban area of Shenyang and died from circulatory system disease during Jan 1,1992 to Dec 31,2000 were collected. We used the semi-parametric generalized additive model to study the relationship between short-term daily average temperature and daily mortality of circulatory system diseases after controlling the confounding factors of long-term trends, humidity, air pressure, work days and season, etc. Results The optimal temperature for all people was 23.4℃.And it was 23.6℃ for male and 23.2℃ for female.A significant graphically 'V' shape relationship between mortality caused by circulatory diseases and ambient temperature was found. The relationship between the temperature changes and the mortality caused by cardiovascular diseases was significant, but not significant with cerebrovascular diseases. The mortality caused by cardiovascular diseases increased 0.0275/100 000 while the temperature increasing each 1℃ above 23.4℃,and increased 0.0062/100 000 while temperature decreasing each 1℃ below 23.4℃.People over 65 years old were the most sensitive population for temperature changing, their mortality caused by cardiovascular diseases increased 1.1909/100 000 when the temperature increasing each 1℃ from 26.6℃.But people under 65 years old were not sensitive to temperature changing, their mortality caused by cardiovascular diseases was all less than 0.0011/100 000 no matter the temperature was higher or lower 1℃ from the optimal temperature. There was no significant difference of the effect of temperature changing on mortality caused by cardiovascular between male and female. Conclusion The "V" shape relationship between mortality caused by cardiovascular diseases and ambient temperature clues us on that temperature left from the optimal temperature could increase the death rate caused by cardiovascular diseases and temperature closed to the optimal temperature could decrease the death rate caused by cardiovascular diseases.

Objective To invstigate the diagnostic value of the detection of telomerase activity in the specimen obtained from CT guided percutaneous transthoracic needle biopsy of lung nodules. Methods The techniques of TRAP silver staining were performed to detect telomerase activity in 43 cases. Results 43 mass cases were studied includirg 32 proved to be primary lung cancer, and 11 benign lesions cytologically and clinically. Telomerase activity was detected as 28(87.5%) of 32 lung carcinomas, whereas in benign lung lesions was 1(9.1%) in 11 cases. Conclusions Detection of telomerase activity in the specimen of lung nodules by CT guided percutaneous transthoracic needle biopsy may be an effective method in the diagnosis of lung cancer and also as tumor marker.

Objective To observe apoptosis of primary cultured synoviocytes from patients with rheumtoid arthritis (RA) which induced by transfected recombinant plasmid carring Fas ligand (FasL) gene, aimed to detect the aim targets and develope gene therapy for RA by intra-articular injection. Methods FasL cDNA was introducted into the plasmid pcDNA3.1-neo by reverse transcriptase-polymerse chain reaction (RT-PCR) to set up the recombinated human FasL gene expression carrier, Then the pcDNA3.1-FasL was transducted into the primary cultured synovial cells by catholyte liposomes. After screened by G418, transgenic synovial cells were choosen. Finally through the microscope, TUNEL, Annexin Ⅴ-FITC and PI staining with flow cytometry, we observed the apoptosis state of each synovial cell. Results Prokaryotic and eukaryon carrier with FasL gene were established successfilly. The gene sequencing had completely coincident with the lierature. When eukaryon carrier with FasL (pcDNA3.1-FasL) was transducted into the index number livinging RA synovial cells after 15 h, most synovial cells presented distortion transformation, and the minority sheded from the bottom wall. The transgenic RA synovial cells after screened by G418, only a little amount survived about 1~2 per sight, and the cells grew slowly, the normal matched cells were cloned after 2~4 weeks. The FasL gene transgenic RA synovial cells presented positive findings by TUNEL staining. Early apoptosis cells by Annexin Ⅴ/PI staining, but the difference wasn′t significant. Conclusion The eukaryon carrier with FasL (pcDNA3.1-FasL) can be transferred into RA synovial cells. It can induce synovial cell apoptosis.

Objective To investigate the role of platelet rich plasma (PRP) on free fat graft's survival in a rat model. Methods Twenty-four rats were used in the experiment. For each rat, three groups of free fat grafts were injected into the subcutaneous layer of dorsum.Group A was the control group with 0.5 ml fat and 0.12 ml normal saline.Group B received 0.5 ml fat and 0.1 ml PRP with 0.02 ml normal saline.Group C was given combination of 0.5 ml fat and 0.1 ml PRP which was activated by 0.02 ml calcium chloride.Eight rats were euthanised using pentobarbital sodium each time,1,2 and 3 months after fat transplantation.Specimens were acquired and stained with haematoxylineeosin, and then the histological changes examined using light microscopy. All the data were statistically analysed using paired t test to determine if there were differences between the study groups. Results Compared the volume of the fat grafts at 1 month, there was no deference between the groups(P>0.05).However,the diameter of group C was significantly higher than group A (P<0.05).On histological examination, larger vascular density was observed in group C compared with group A at 1 month (P<0.05).And reduced inflammatory reaction was also observed in group C at 3 months(P<0.05).While other histological parameters were not statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusions PRP does not enhance the survival of fat graft in the Wistar rat model.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of target organ damage and analyze etiology in elderly hospitalized patients with hypertension. Methods A total of 1270 elderly inpatients aged 60 to 91 years from 2008 to 2012 were enrolled. This retrospective study was performed to analyze the etiology and the prevalence of target organ damage in hospitalized hypertensive patients. Results Among elderly hypertensive patients, secondary hypertension accounted for 14.2 % (180/1 270) while essential hypertension accounted for 85.8% (1 090/1 270).In secondary hypertension, renovascular hypertension of atherosclerosis (67.8%) and primary aldosteronism (23.3%) had the higher prevalence rate.Among 1 090 hospitalized patients with essential hypertension, the prevalence of patients with ≥ 1 complications was 88.3 %.The prevalence of cerebrovascular disease, coronary heart disease and chronic renal failure were 30.2 %,26.7 % and 10.5 %,respectively. The occurrence rate of the increased carotid intima-media thickness and left type hypertrophy were 66.6 % and 24.0 %,respectively. The prevalence rate of cerebrovascular disease, coronary artery disease and chronic renal failure were increased with aging (P<0.05).Compared with female, male patients had a higher prevalence rate of chronic renal failure (P<0.05).Conclusions Secondary hypertension is mainly renovascular hypertension and primary aldosteronism in elderly patients with hypertension. And damage of target organ in elderly patients with primary hypertension is more common, highest with cerebral apoplexy among three target organs such as heart, brain and kidney disease.
