Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2017;23(7):770-774
Micro positron emission computed tomography (PET) is a sort of tomography technique specifically for small animal stud-ies. It can be used to observe radionuclide labeling molecules in vivo, especially for neuronal activities noninvasively, dynamically and quan-titatively at the molecular level. MicroPET can be used for early detection of atherosclerotic plaques, measurement of cerebral blood flow, judgment of the survival status in cerebral ischemia area in animal model. It is important for the control of risk factors, disease diagnosis, dis-ease staging and evaluation of curative effect.

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the distribution and drug resistance of pyogenic encephalitis in our hospital, and to pro-vide reference for rational use of antibiotics. METHODS:The cerebrospinal fluid pathogen of 4 255 patients with pyogenic encepha-litis in our hospital during Jan. 1st,2011-Dec. 31st,2014 were cultured and identified, and drug sensitivity test was conducted. RE-SULTS:A total of 834 pathogens were isolated with positive detection rate of 19.6%,including 576 strains of gram-positive bacte-ria,accounting for 69.1%;255 strains of gram-negative bacteria, accounting for 30.6%;3 strains of fungi, accounting for 0.4%. Top 3 gram-positive bacteria were Coagulase-negative staphylococci(436 strains),Staphylococcus aureus(56 strains)and Entero-coccus (29 strains). Top 3 gram-negative bacteria were Klebsiella pneumoniae (46 strains),Acinetobacter baumannii (38 strains) and Escherichia coli(31 strains). Top 3 departments were neurosurgery department(506 strains),ICU(169 strains)and severe re-spiratory disease department (64 strains). Results of drug sensitivity test showed that no drug-resistant Staphylococcus and Entero-coccus strains to vancomycin, teicoplanin and miuocycline was found;nonfermenting Gram-negative bacilli showed low resistant to minocycline. CONCLUSIONS:Gram-positive bacteria dominates the detection rate of cerebrospinal fluid of pyogenic encephalitis patients;drug resistance of various pathogens is serious and clinicians should choose antibiotics based on drug sensitivity.

Objective:
To investigate the smoking cessation intention and attempt to quit smoking among smokers at ages of 15 years and older in a district of Beijing Municipality, so as to provide insights into formulation of tobacco control interventions.
Methods:
Permanent residents at ages of 15 years and older were sampled using a multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method from a district in Beijing Municipality, and all smokers were recruited. Participants' demographic features, tobacco use, intention to quit smoking, attempts to quit smoking and awareness of tobacco-related hazards were collected using the Beijing Adult Tobacco Survey. The intention and attempts to quit smoking were analyzed among smokers, and factors affecting the attempt to quit smoking were identified using a multivariable logistic regression model.
Results:
A total of 687 smokers were surveyed, including 669 men (97.38%), 497 from rural areas (72.34%), 351 daily smokers (51.09%), 336 occasional smokers (48.91%), 329 with intention to quit smoking (47.89%), and 178 with attempts to quit smoking during the past one year (25.91%). Univariable analysis showed that area, age, educational level, smoking status, tobacco health literacy and tobacco control information acquired from media were factors affecting intention and attempts to quit smoking among smokers (P<0.05). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that smokers with intention to quit smoking (OR=5.444, 95%CI: 3.585-8.268) and occasional smoking (OR=2.142, 95%CI: 1.312-3.497) were more likely to attempt to quit smoking.
Conclusions
Approximately half of smokers have intention to quit smoking in a district of Beijing Municipality; however, the percentage of attempts to quit smoking is low. Targeted interventions are required for smokers with different characteristics to improve the intention to quit smoking and promote smoking-quitting behaviors.

Objective To investigate the possible mechanism of aggregation and activation of neu-trophils(polymorphonuclear neutrophils,PMN)in mice with chlamydial pneumonitis. Methods C57BL/ 6 mice were inoculated intranasally with 3×103 inclusion-forming units(IFU)of Chlamydia muridarum(Cm) to induce the murine model of chlamydial pneumonitis. Samples of lung tissues collected at different time points after infection were stained by hematoxylin and eosin for histopathological assessment of inflammation. The levels of myelo-peroxidase(MPO)were detected for the evaluation of PMN aggregation. The mononu-clear cells were isolated from lung tissues. The inflammatory cells were counted with Giemsaˊs staining. CD11b+Gr1+ cell population and CD11b expression in lung mononuclear cells were analyzed by flow cytome-try. The expression of chemokines(MIP-2,LIX,KC and MCP-1)in lung tissues at mRNA level was meas-ured by RT-PCR. Results Chlamydial pneumonitis was induced in mice by intranasal inoculation of 3×103 IFU of Cm. Compared with the mice from control group, large amounts of inflammatory cells including PMN, monocytes and lymphocytes were induced in lung tissues of mice with Cm infection. PMN responded earlier than monocytes to the infection. The levels of MPO were significantly increased in mice with Cm infection and reached the highest level on the 7th day after infection. A decline in MPO levels was observed on the 14th day but the levels were still higher than those on day 0. The percentages and total numbers of CD11b+Gr1+ cells were significantly increased after Cm infection. Moreover,an increased expression of PMN CD11b was also detected by flow cytometry. The expression of chemokines(MIP-2,LIX,KC and MCP-1)was in-creased in lung tissues of mice after Cm infection. The results of the study indicated that Cm infection in-duced the expression of PMN chemoattractants, resulting in the recruitment of PMN. Conclusion The infil-tration and activation of PMN in lung tissues of mice were induced by Cm infection through increasing the ex-pression of chemokines. PMN played an important role in immune responses against Cm infection.
