1.The application of glucose damp technique on the children endocrine field
International Journal of Pediatrics 2010;37(3):243-245
Insulin sensitivity and insulin secretion function are the hot spots for studying the sugar and lipid metabolism. Hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp and hyperglycemic clamp are the gold standard for insulin sensitivity test and insulin secretion function test. Lack of insulin secretion and insulin resistance are the two main pathogenesis of diabetes. Adopting glucose clamp technology to explore diabetes and diabetic complications, and other endocrine diseases has bocome the main method. Recently, this technology has been initially used in childhood diabetes, obesity, short stature syndrome, metabolic syndrome, et al. Hie technology becomes common in children with endocrine diseases.

Objective To study the effect of modified Xiaochaihu Decoction on NF-kB and HSP70 of BRL cell induced by cisplatin. Methods BRL Cells were divided into control group, cisplatin group, high and low dose of modified Xiaochaihu decoction. Complete cell protein dot blot technique and immunohistochemisth analysis were appllied to detect the change of NF-kB and HSP70. Results There was a significant increase in NF-kB and decrease in HSP70 of BRL cell induced by cisplatin compared with control group. There was a significant decrease of NF-kB in modified Xiaochaihu decoction group compared with cisplatin group. There were increases of the expression of HSP70 in both high and low dose group, but only the high dose group demonstrated significant difference. Conclution The expression of NF-kB of BRL cell induced by cisplatin can be inhibited while the expression of HSP70 can be enhenced by modified Xiaochaihu decoction. It may be one of important mechanisms of relieving cell oxidize lesion and inhibiting apoptosis by modified Xiaochaihu decoction.

Objective To analyze the genetic difference of biological characters on germplasm resources of fenugreek(Trigonella foenumgraecum) and to study the genetic diversity of them. Methods Thirty-two fenugreek germplasm resources from Ningxia, other provinces in China, and abroad were used to investigate the biological characters on plant height, pod formation height, nodes per main stem, branches number, effective pod per plant and so on.The tested materials were planted in the farm of Ningxia University. The genetic diversity based on the phenotype was analyzed by Word′s minimum variance method. Results The variance analyses of ten biological characters were of significance or the most significance except pod length. The branches number and effective pod per plant possessed the largest coefficient of variance(CV). The pairwise Euclidean distance of the tested materials ranged from 1.11 to 9.49,averaged 4.01.Mean Euclidean distance of single tested material ranged from 2.94 to 6.54.The tested germplasm resources could be divided into three groups in D=6.86,which coincided with the district of collecting germplasm resources on the whole. Conclusion There is a little genetic difference in various fenugreek germplasm resources.Compared with Euclidean distance of germplasm resources from Ningxia, the Euclidean distance of most from abroad is far away from that of other provinces in China.

Objective To evaluate the effect of cinobufotalin and chemotherapeutic agents by transcatheter arterial with oilychemoembolization(TACE) in the treatment of primary liver cancer. Methods 144 patients with HCC proved histopathologically were divided into 2 groups.76 of them(group A) were treated by transcatheter arterial infusion(TAI) with cinobufotalin 100 ml,DDP and 5-FU,then embolism with iodized oil mixed ADM;while the other 68 patients(group B) were treated by TAI with DDP and 5-FU,then embolism with iodized oil mixed ADM.The serum T lymphocytes,HBV DNA,AFP and CT scan were acquired before and after treatment. Results The effective rate(PR+MR) of group A was 86.64%,the lymphocyte transformation rate(LTT),T lymphocytes CD_3~+,CD_4~+proportion and CD_4~+/CD_8~+ratio markedly increased;HBV DNA descended in 21 cases, unchanged in 46 cases, and elevated in 9 cases;1 and 2 year survival rate was 86.84%(66/76)and71.05%(54/76) respectively. The effective rate(PR+MR) of group B was 72.73%,LTT,T lymphocytesCD_3~+,CD_4~+proportion and CD_4~+/CD_8~+ratio markedly descended;HBV DNA descended in 2 cases, unchanged in 20 cases and elevated in 46 cases;1 and 2 year survival rate was 72.73%(48/68) and 54.41%(37/68) respectively. There were significant statistical differences between the two groups(P

The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in pediatric care has a long history, proven efficacy, and distinctive characteristics. The China Association of Chinese Medicine has organized a series of youth salons to discuss the clinical advantages of treating diseases.Experts at this seminar proposed that the superior disease categories in pediatric TCM are significant for showcasing the unique strengths and advantages of TCM in the treatment of pediatric diseases, enhancing diagnostic and treatment levels, inheriting TCM knowledge, promoting the integration of TCM and Western medicine, and meeting patients' needs. The strengths of pediatric TCM are summed up as "having what others do not, excelling at what others have, being special in what others excel at,and ensuring safety in what others specialize in." The scope of superiority in pediatric TCM covers multiple systems, including respiratory, digestive, endocrine, psychological, and dermatological systems. This article summarized the advantages of TCM in treating 13 diseases discussed in the salon, such as upper respiratory tract infections, coughs, pneumonia, allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, atopic dermatitis, functional dyspepsia, functional constipation, enuresis, marginal short stature, simple obesity, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and tic disorders. The overall advantages were reflected in three aspects:First, the holistic concept and treatment based on syndrome differentiation in TCM highlight the advantage of treating the root causes of diseases, making the treatment methodical and precise.Second, most traditional Chinese herbs are natural and have strong safety profiles.Third,TCM treatment methods are abundant, especially the external treatment methods, which are widely used in pediatrics, highly accepted by parents, and have definite efficacy,as well as good safety and compliance.

The discussion and research on the clinical dominant diseases of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) have attracted increasing attention. Through approaches including modern technology, evidence-based medical methods, and multi-disciplinary treatment, we should construct a sound TCM inheritance and innovation system, establish a collaborative innovation mechanism, and integrate major research projects, striving to make breakthroughs in TCM theory, methodology, standards, and regulation system, promoting the scientific and technological progress of TCM, and thereby improving its curative effect. The China Association of Chinese Medicine (CACM) carried out a series of youth salon seminars for clinical dominant diseases in TCM, discussing and sorting out the advantages of the dominant diseases in clinical diagnosis and treatment of TCM and integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine in specific diseases or fields. Authoritative experts in the industry were invited to give comment and guidance to form a report. Centering on clinical research of dominant diseases, thematic research was carried out in the aspects of practice, human experience-based evidence, and transformation path. Through the systematic study of the dominant diseases, the advantages of TCM in different stages of disease treatment were excavated to constantly improve the prevention and treatment ability of TCM and carry forward the advancement of TCM theory and practice. At the same time, the communication and understanding between traditional Chinese and western medicine were improved, laying the foundation for the further formation of industry guidelines or consensus and comprehensive promotion. These seminars are expected to provide references for the development of policy planning, clinical diagnosis and treatment, health economy, and social services in TCM and lay the foundation for the formation of a new modern diagnosis and treatment system with Chinese characteristics.
