Objective To observe the effect of Danhong Injection(DI)on the thyroid hormone level in patients with angina due to coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods Sixty CHD angina patients were equally randomized into the treatment group and the control group. The two groups received routine western medicine such as aspirin, angiotensin convert enzyme inhibitor(ACEI),statins,beta-blockers and nitrate esters, and the treatment group was additionally given intravenous drip transfusion of DI 20 mL,qd.Twenty days constituted one treatment course. After treatment, the therapeutic effect was evaluated and the changes of serum thyroid hormone level were observed. Results In the control group,13 patients were markedly effective,9 effective,8 ineffective, and the total effective rate was 73.3%;in the treatment group,19 patients were markedly effective,6 effective,5 ineffective, and the total effective rate was 83.3%;the difference between the two groups was significant(P

Objective To determine the effect of community family visit on patients with metabolic syndrome. Methods According to the diagnostic criteria set up by the Diabetes Society of the Chinese Medical Association 220 patients with metabolic syndrome were equally divided into two groups:family visit group and control group. The family visit group was followed up by full-time medical staff regularly, while not interfering with the control group. After one year before and after the intervention, the relevant indicators were compared between the two groups. Results The levels of SBP,DBP,TG,TC,LDL-ch,24-hour urine protein were lowered markedly by intervention (P<0.05).HDL-ch increased compared to the previous (t= 7.921,P<0.05),but body mass index were not significantly changed. Before and after the intervention the levels of SBP,DBP,TG were ideal This was followed by significant improvement of fasting plasma glucose (FPG),two hours after meal blood glucose (2 hPG),TC,HDL set standards,24-hour urine protein body mass index.Compared with the control group, the family visit group showed siguificant improvement of related indicators except body mass index and TC.Condusion Intervention by family visit is effective in improving the vales of metabolic syndrome.

ABSTRACT:Objective To establish a rapid molecular method for the detection of aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 (ALDH2)and investigate the gene polymorphisms of ALDH2?2 and determine whether the polymorphic ALDH2 gene is associated with drinking behavior in a Chinese population. Methods The gene polymorphisms of ALDH2?2 were detected using pyrosequencing,TaqMan Real-time PCR and GeneChip microarray technologies;genotyping of 302 volunteers was performed to assess their genetic associations with alcohol use behavior. Results We developed pyrosequencing,TaqMan Real-time PCR and GeneChip microarray methods to identify ALDH2? 2 polymorphisms. The allele frequency of ALDH2?2 was 20.36% in the Chinese population:16.33% in the alcoholic group and 27.83% in non-drinkers (P=0.001).In contrast, the genotype frequency of heterozygous ALDH2?1/?2 plus homozygous ALDH2?2/?2 was 45.28% in non-drinkers and 32.65% in the alcoholics group (P=0.030). Allele frequency of ALDH2 genotypes differed significantly between our Chinese sample and other ethnic groups in Asia, and it was significantly higher than that in European and American countries. Conclusion The developed pyrosequencing,TaqMan Real-time PCR and GeneChip microarray methods are rapid,accurate,high-throughput, convenient, and reliable for detecting ALDH2 polymorphisms.ALDH2?2 gene can protect against the development of alcoholism. The allele frequency of ALDH2 in this Chinese population differs from that in other ethnic groups.

OBJECTIVE:To explore basic technology for synthesis of active ingredients of Ophiocordyceps xuefengensis, and provide necessary technical support for comprehensive development of O. xuefengensis sourse. METHODS:Submerged fermenta-tion method was used to cultivate the mycelium, achieving efficient synthesis of active ingredients by controlling medium composi-tion and cultivation conditions. Using the bacteria as starting strain, the effects of different carbon sources (sucrose, glucose and soluble starch),different nitrogen sources (peptone, yeast extract powder, yeast extract, sodium nitrate, potassium nitrate and urea),different vitamin B(vitamin B1 and vitamin B complex)and different initial pH(pH was set at 4,5,6,7,8 and 9,re-spectively)on mycelial growth, extracellular and intracellular polysaccharide synthesis, cordycepin synthesis and intracellular triter-penoid synthesis were investigated to screen the optimal medium composition. RESULTS:The optimal carbon source, nitrogen source, vitamin B and initial pH were sucrose, yeast extract powder, vitamin B1 and 8,respectively. High biomass and metabolite accumulation levels can be obtained when carbon source was sucrose, nitrogen source was yeast extract powder, adding 0.1 g/L vi-tamin B1 with initial pH of 8. CONCLUSIONS:O. xuefengensis can efficiently accumulate metabolites, and achieve the optimiza-tion of strain cell growth and synthesis of active metabolite by optimizing and controlling the fermentation process.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the change of nasal ventilation function in a group of SDB patients and its relationship to PSG parameters.
METHOD:
One hundred twenty-eight controls, 11 habitual snorers, 33 cases of mild-moderate OSAHS and 33 cases of severe OSAHS were examined. NN1 Rhinospirometer was used to measure unilateral nasal respiratory capacity (NC(un)) and bilateral nasal respiratory capacity (NC(bi)), and the nasal partitioning ratio (NPR) can be calculated. NR6 Rhinomanometry was used to measure total nasal inspiratory and expiratory resistance (TNRi, TNRe). A1 acoustic rhinometry was used to measure distances of the two notches to the nostril (MD1, MD2), cross-sectional areas of the two notches (MCA1, MCA2) and nasal volume from 0-5 cm (NV(0-5)). Moreover, make the correlational analysis on different index of nasal functional tests and PSG.
RESULT:
(1) Significant group differences were shown in NPR (P < 0.01). (2) TNRi and TNRe were statistical different among the groups (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05). (3) There are significant difference on MD1, MCA1, MCA2, NV(0-5) in male, but just on MD1 in female. (4) There was no correlation between PSG parameters and nasal functional parameters in SDB patients. But for certain subgroup analysis in female patients with a body mass index below 25, minimum oxygen saturation correlated significantly with MCA2 (r = 0.688, P < 0.05), arousal index correlated significantly with MCA1 (r = 0.543, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
The nasal anatomical structure and physiological function contribute to the pathogenesis of OSAHS, which may play a larger role in non-obese female patients.
