1.Current status of imipenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection and analysis of drug resistance in children

Objective To investigate the infection status and drug resistance of imipenem‐resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PAE) isolated from the submitted specimens from children patients in our hospital between October 2012 to September 2013 for mastering the antimicrobial resistance status of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection among children in Guangzhou and the occurrence situation of imipenem resistant strains .Methods The detection situation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa from infected children during this period was analyzed and the VITEK 2 Compact analyzer produced by the France bioMerieux company was used to identify the bacteria .The minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC) of imipenem resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa to 11 kinds of antibiotics was detected .Results 161 strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa were detected from 36 600 specimens ,including 24 strains(14 .9% ) of imipenem resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa ,the positive strains were mainly originated from phlegmy (50 .3% ) ,the isolation was highest in ICU (27 .4% ) and NICU(21 .8% ) .The drug resistance rate of imipenem‐resistant P .aeruginosa was higher to ceftriax‐one sodium(91 .7% ) ,cefoperazone(29 .0% ) ,ceftazidime(29 .0% ) ,cefoperazone /shubatan(29 .0% ) and aztreonam (25 .0% ) .Con‐clusion Imipenem‐resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa has the higher detection rate among children in this area and usually has re‐sistance to multiple antibiotics ,which should be paid more attention to and antibiotics should be rationally used .
2.Influence of different fixation targets in accuracy of Jackson cross cylinder examination

Objective To evaluate the influence of black dots,isolated line above the best correct visual acuity and multiple lines containing the best correct visual acuity in the accuracy of Jackson cross cylinder examination.Methods Forty students were chosen(11 males,29 females,between 24 to 29 years old).Routine examination of phoropter was used to check under the maximum plus to maximum visual acuity(MPMVA) status.The sequence of three fixation targets was chosen randomly.Astigmatism chart was used to judge the best one when the different results were obtained.Results Among the 80 eyes of 40 students,12 eyes were spherical(the cylinder degree below 0.25 DC).The response of three fixation targets was the same in 19 eyes(27.9%),23 eyes(33.8%)were sensitive to the black dots target,14 eyes(20.6%)were sensitive to the isolated line above the best correct visual acuity,12 eyes(17.6%) were sensitive to multiple lines containing the best correct visual acuity.Kruska Wallis Test was used to detect the difference among three groups.No significant difference was found(?2 =4.026,P=0.134).Conclusion According to the efficiency of examination,communication and judgment,black dots target is recommended although no difference is detected among three fixation targets.
3.Studies on the correlation of senile blood lipid abnormity and metabolic syndrome with cardiac and cerebrovascular events

Objective To investigate the correlation of blood lipid metabolism abnormity and other components of metabolic syndrome on angiocardiopathy and cerebrovascular diseases in the elderly people. Methods The clinical data of elderly people, who underwent medical examination during 1996 to 2005 in the General Hospital of PLA, were retrospectively analyzed. Based on the analysis, the co-existence of blood lipid disorders with glucose metabolic abnormity, hypertension and obesity, as well as their influence on cardio-cerebrovascular diseases were further analyzed. Results The prevalence of blood lipid metabolic disturbance was 69.6%, in which the prevalence of hyper-cholesteremia and hyper-triglyceride were 23.6% and 21.7%, respectively. The prevalence of hyper-cholesteremia accompanied by hyper-triglyceride (mixed group) was 19.3%, that of hyper-triglyceride with lower high density lipoprotein cholesterol was 5.03%, while it was 30.4% in the normal group. There was a higher risk of having the above abnormal condition in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity, and they were more frequently complicated by hypertension in the hyper-triglyceride group (70.8%). When the patients with lipid metabolic disturbance were complicated by T2DM, hypertension and obesity, the prevalence of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases increased. The prevalence of CHD was higher in the patients with hyper-cholesteremia and hypertension or diabetes, and incidence of both CHD and CVD was higher in the patients with hyper-triglyceride and either one of hypertension, diabetes or obesity. Conclusion There is high prevalence of lipid metabolic disturbance (more than two thirds) and other components of metabolic syndrome, and high risk of suffering from cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases in elderly people. The aging patients with hyper-triglyceride are vulnerable to cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases, and more attention should be paid in clinical practice in future.
4.The preparation of chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol membrane

5.Diagnosis of superficial carcinoma of stomach using digital radiography

Objective To study the values of the diagnosis of superficial carcinoma of stomach using digital radiography(DR). Methods Patients with superficial carcinoma of stomach( n = 62) were divided into two groups:group DR( n = 35, using digital radiography) and group control( n = 27, using traditional X ray machine). All pa-tients were undergone Gas-Barium double contrast radiograph examination before operation and confirmed by pathol-ogy. Results In group DR, the focuses of 32 patients were found and 3 lost. In group control, the focuses of 22 pa-tients were found and 5 lost. The detection rate of the two groups had significant difference( P < 0.01 ). Conclusion The application of DR could increase the detection rate of superficial carcinoma of stomach, meanwhile gastroscope and pathology biopsy were also important.

8.Effect of ASIC1 a on hepatic fibrosis under high glucose

Aim To investigate the effect of ASIC1 a ( acid-sensing ion channel 1 a ) on the pathological change of diabetes complication liver fibrosis and the proliferation and activation of hepatic stellate cell ( HSC-T6 ) stimulated by PDGF-BB under hyperglyce-mia. Methods Diabetes rats model was established by streptozotocin ( STZ) , and liver fibrosis rats model was induced by carbon tetrachloride ( CCl4 ) . Then, the liver extent of damage and the expression of ASIC1 a were observed in the diabetic rats, liver fibrosis rats and diabetes complication liver fibrosis rats. In vitro, after pretreated with amiloride, HSC-T6 was treated with high glucose for 24 h and then stimulated with PDGF-BB for another 24 h. The proliferation and acti-vation of HSC-T6 were observed, and the expression of ASIC1a, α-SMA and collagen Ⅰ were detected by Western blot. Results Compared with the control group, rats from diabetic group induced by STZ, liver fibrosis group induced by CCl4 , and the diabetes com-plication liver fibrosis rats co-induced by STZ and CCl4 were all observed with liver damage at different levels, and tissue injury of complication group was most seri-ous. However, the expression of ASIC1a in the three model groups was significantly increased compared to the control group. ASIC1a level was most obvious in the diabetes complication liver fibrosis rats. Amiloride pretreatment significantly decreased ASIC1 a expression and inhibited PDGF-BB mediated proliferation and the expression ofα-SMA and collagenⅠin HSC-T6 under high glucose environment. Conclusion High ambient glucose aggravates HSC activation and hepatic fibrosis, and this may be related with the increasing expression of ASIC1a.
9.The application of nasal ventilation function on sleep-disordered breathing disorders.

OBJECTIVE:
To explore the change of nasal ventilation function in a group of SDB patients and its relationship to PSG parameters.
METHOD:
One hundred twenty-eight controls, 11 habitual snorers, 33 cases of mild-moderate OSAHS and 33 cases of severe OSAHS were examined. NN1 Rhinospirometer was used to measure unilateral nasal respiratory capacity (NC(un)) and bilateral nasal respiratory capacity (NC(bi)), and the nasal partitioning ratio (NPR) can be calculated. NR6 Rhinomanometry was used to measure total nasal inspiratory and expiratory resistance (TNRi, TNRe). A1 acoustic rhinometry was used to measure distances of the two notches to the nostril (MD1, MD2), cross-sectional areas of the two notches (MCA1, MCA2) and nasal volume from 0-5 cm (NV(0-5)). Moreover, make the correlational analysis on different index of nasal functional tests and PSG.
RESULT:
(1) Significant group differences were shown in NPR (P < 0.01). (2) TNRi and TNRe were statistical different among the groups (P < 0.01 or P < 0.05). (3) There are significant difference on MD1, MCA1, MCA2, NV(0-5) in male, but just on MD1 in female. (4) There was no correlation between PSG parameters and nasal functional parameters in SDB patients. But for certain subgroup analysis in female patients with a body mass index below 25, minimum oxygen saturation correlated significantly with MCA2 (r = 0.688, P < 0.05), arousal index correlated significantly with MCA1 (r = 0.543, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
The nasal anatomical structure and physiological function contribute to the pathogenesis of OSAHS, which may play a larger role in non-obese female patients.

10.Effect of eucalyptus oil on limb bone development of teratogenic fetus rats induced by retinoic acid

OBJECTlVE To study the effect of eucaIyptus oiI on fetus skeIetaI deveIopment of retin-oic acid( RA)induced teratogenic rats. METHODS Forty-two pregnant SD rats were randomIy and equaIIy divided into 6 groups:eucaIyptus oiI 100,200 and 300 mg·kg-1+RA groups,soIvent group(peanut oiI+RA)group,RA group and normaI group with normaI diet. Three eucaIyptus oiI and soIvent groups were ig given eucaIyptus oiI in 100,200,and 300 mg·kg-1 and peanut oiI 2 mL at the 7th to 14th day of gestation,respectiveIy,and RA 40 mg·kg-1 at the 10th day of gestation. RA group were ig given RA 40 mg·kg-1 at the 10th day of gestation. AII pregnant rats were sacrificed at the 21th day. The Iength of fetus body and taiI as weII as body mass of the embryos were measured. 1/ 2-1/ 3 fetaI rats from each Iitter were randomIy extracted to observe skeIetaI deveIopment under a stereoscope by staining with aIcian bIue and aIizarin red S. The Iength of Iimbs and bone ossification was measured. RESULTS The fetus body mass,body Iength,taiI Iength of normaI group significantIy surpassed those in the other groups(P﹤0.05,P﹤0.01). The fetus body mass and body Iength of each eucaIyptus oiI group were significantIy better than RA group(P﹤0.05,P﹤0.01). The fetus body mass,body Iength and taiI Iength of soIvent group were not significantIy different from those in the RA group. The fetus taiI Iength in eucaIyptus oiI groups had no significant difference compared with RA group. The Iimb and bone ossification of normaI group were Ionger than in RA group(P﹤0.05,P﹤0.01). The Iimb Iength of the eucaIyptus oiI groups was Ionger than in RA group and soIvent controI group(P﹤0.05,P﹤0.01),but there was no difference between the soIvent controI group and RA group. The Iimb ossification of each eucaIyptus oiI group was aIso Ionger than that in RA group and soIvent controI group(P﹤0.05,P﹤0.01),but there was no difference between the soIvent controI group and RA group. CONCLUSlON EucaIyptus oiI can antagonize the retardation of skeIetaI growth and ossification of fetaI rats caused by RA.
