Objective:To evaluate the change in hamstring ( H ):quadriceps ( Q ) ratio following anterior cruciate ligament ( ACL) rupture during isokinetic knee extension and flexion at 30 degrees of flexion which is important for knee dynamic function .Methods:A study was performed in 25 male com-plete unilateral ACL ruptures .Isokinetic concentric and eccentric quadriceps and hamstring muscle tests in both the deficient knees and intact knees were performed at 60°/s, respectively. At 30 degrees of flexion, the average torque of quadriceps and hamstring , Qe∶Qc ratios ( ratios of eccentric quadriceps to concentric quadriceps muscle torque ) , He∶Hc ratios ( eccentric hamstring to concentric hamstring ) , Hc∶Qc ratios ( concentric hamstring to concentric quadriceps ) , He∶Qc ratios ( eccentric hamstring to con-centric quadriceps ) , and Hc∶Qe ratios ( concentric hamstring to eccentric quadriceps ) were calculated . Wilcoxon matched-pairs signed-ranks test was used .Results:At 30 degrees of knee flexion , a significant reduction ( P<0.05) in the average torque of quadriceps was observed at concentric and eccentric 60°/s produced by the deficient-side compared with the intact side .In addition, Hc∶Qc, He∶Qc, and Qe∶Qc significantly increased on the ACL-deficient side .Conclusion:The change in H ∶Q ratio in the mode of isokinetic 60 °/s at 30 degrees of knee flexion might therefore be a new tool to objectively document muscle function in ACL-deficient knee .

Objective To prepare recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) sustained-release microspheres and evaluate their morphology, rhEGF releasing activities and cell proliferation activity in vitro and compare difference of rhEGF sustained-release microspheres and rhEGF in facilitaring ulcer healing in diabetic rats. Methods (1) rhEGF sustained-release microspheres were prepared by the modified double emulsion method. Morphology of the microspheres was detected by transmission electron microscope and size distribution measured by laser granularity meter/Zeta electric potential meter. ELISA assays were applied to determine rhEGF releasing. (2)Proliferation of mouse fibroblasts was analyzed by MTr method. (3) Diabetic rat models were prepared and divided into four groups, ie, rhEGF sustained-release mierospheres group (Group A), rhEGF stock solution group (Group B), blank sustainedrelease mierospheres group (Group C) and PBS meustruum control group (Group D), which were given drug once a day. The wound healing rate was calculated by taking photographs at days 3,7,14 and 21. Skin specimens from the wound edge were harvested partially for observation of hydroxyproline (HYP) contents. Immunohistochemistry was employed to detect integrin 131 and keratin-19 and measure their positive staining area ratio. Results (1) The particle diameter of rhEGF sustained-release microspheres was 193.5 nm, with relative uniform particle diameter distribution. There showed no conglutination among rhEGF susrained-release microspheres, with good dispersibility. Releasing drug lasted for 24 hours and accorded with Higuchi release kinetic model. (2) Different concentrations of rhEGF sustained-release microspheres could promote the proliferation of mouse fibroblast, especially the concentration of 10 μg/L (P <0.05, compared with the control). (3) From the 7th day after treatment, Group A had the fastest wound healing rate, with statistical difference compared with other three groups (P < 0.05). Group A had higher HYP contents and positive area ratio of integrin β1 and keratin-19 than Group B. Conclusions rhEGF sustained-release microspheres prepared by the modified double emulsion method have uniform particle size and can last release for 24 hours. Compared with rhEGF stock solution, rhEGF sustained-release microspheres have faster and better ulcer healing and higher healing quality in diabetic rats.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2010;35(4):358-364
OBJECTIVE:
To observe the therapeutic effect of salvia miltiorrhiza and prednisolone on patients with oral submucous fibrosis (OSF).
METHODS:
A total of 60 medium-term OSF patients and 60 advanced stage OSF patients were randomly divided into the first group (treated with both salvia miltiorrhiza and prednisolone) and the second group (treated with prednisolone alone). The clinical effect was compared between each group after 3-month treatment.
RESULTS:
Difference was found in the lesion area of the medium-term cases and the advanced stage cases of the first group before the treatment [(10.37+/-3.40) cm2, (19.60+/-3.27) cm2] and after the treatment [(5.90+/-4.10) cm2, (16.33+/-4.02) cm2] (P<0.05). Significant difference was found in the mouth opening before the treatment [(3.41+/-0.77) cm, (1.98+/-0.39) cm] and after the treatment [(3.87+/-0.67) cm, (2.26+/-0.46) cm] (P<0.05) in the first group. There was significant difference in the lesion area and mouth opening of the medium-term cases of the second group before the treatment [(10.87+/-3.18) cm2, (3.57+/-0.75) cm] and after the treatment [(6.70+/-3.75) cm2, (3.97+/-0.69) cm] (P<0.05). No difference in the lesion area and mouth opening of the advanced stage cases of the second group was found (P>0.05). There was difference in the therapeutic efficacy between the first group (70%) and the second group (16.67%) of the advanced stage cases (P<0.05), but not in the clinical effect between the 2 groups of the medium-term cases (P>0.05). The side effect of prednisolone could be reduced while used together with salvia miltiorrhiza.
CONCLUSION
There is obvious advantage in treating OSF by the combination of salvia miltiorrhiza and prednisolone.

Chinese Journal of Sports Medicine 2018;37(4):277-281
Objective To compare the femur tibia angle(FTA) and tibia tubercle to trochlear groove (TT-TG) measured on the magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) between patients with anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) rupture and healthy controls with intact ACL,and to observe the change of the tibia-femur rotation and explore its relationship with the patellofemoral cartilage injury. Methods Fifty patients with ACL ruptures were divided into an experimental group, while another 50 healthy counterparts were chosen into a control group. All subjects were given MRI to get FTA and TT-TG.For the experimental group, all parameters were measured before and after ACL reconstruction. The results were analyzed by variance analysis and t test. Results MRI measurements showed that the average FTA in the experimental group was 6.5° ± 6.1° and 6.0° ± 5.6° before and after the ACL reconstruction, significantly higher than that in the control group, which was 3.6° ± 4.9° (P=0.0003 and P=0.033,respectively).No significant differences were found in the average TT-TG of the experimental group,6.4 ± 3.3 mm before ACL reconstruction and 6.9 mm ± 4.0 mm after ACL reconstruction, and that of the control group,6.3 ± 3.6 mm(P=0.678).Moreover,all patients in the experimental group underwent a second check under the arthroscopy, which revealed that the patellofemoral cartilage injury was aggravat ed in 26 patients measured by the Outerbridge grading. However, there was no significant difference in FTA and TT-TG between patients with and without aggravated patellofemoral cartilage degeneration. Conclusions After ACL reconstruction, the external rotation angle of the knee could not completely recover to the normal level with the knee extension at 0°.Patellofemoral cartilage degeneration after the ACL reconstruction is caused by many factors. The results of the second arthroscopy after the ACL reconstruction find no relationship between patellofemoral cartilage degeneration and the increased tibia external rotation angle relative to the femur. Moreover, after the ACL reconstruction,if the femur tibia angle is bigger than the range of motion of the knee,it cannot be concluded that the anterior cruciate ligament is reruptured.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2011;36(1):88-92
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the relationship between the chronic periodontitis (CP) and the depression-anxiety psychological factors.
METHODS:
Thirty-one patients and 29 age, gender-matched volunteers were enrolled for this study. In order to assess the depression-anxiety psychological index, the subjects filled the questionnaire regarding the demographic and socioeconomic information, the oral hygiene habit, the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and the Self Rating Anxiety Scale(ASA). Calculus index (CI), bleeding on probing (BOP), probing depth (PD), clinical attachment loss (CAL), furcation involvement (FI) and tooth mobility were assessed at 6 sites per tooth of all erupted teeth by a manual periodontal probe. The data were analyzed by the analysis of variance, χ(2) test, and multivariable logistic step wise analysis via the software of SPSS 15.0.
RESULTS:
The mean CAL of the control group was 0.46 ± 0.16,the mean CAL of the moderate, high, and severe CP group was 2.84 ± 0.12, 3.51 ± 0.34, and 4.71 ± 0.51, respectively, which is significant difference between each other (P<0.01). The depression index of the volunteers, the moderate CP, the high CP, and the severe CP was 30.52 ± 3.73, 35.83 ± 7.76, 37.25 ± 6.16, 37.82 ± 5.94, respectively. The anxiety index among the 4 groups was 26.69 ± 3.55, 37.67 ± 6.31, 32.87 ± 5.54, and 35.94 ± 6.30, respectively. The depression and anxiety indexes of the periodontitis groups were higher than those of the control (P<0.01) while there was no significant difference among the 3 CP groups (P>0.05). The multivariate logistic analysis of the relationship between CP and the depression-anxiety psychological factors showed that the depression psychological factor was B=2.301,OR=9.988 while the optimistic coping style was B=-5.174,OR=0.006 in the equation of the regression.
CONCLUSION
The depression psychological factor was related to the progression of CP. In addition, the optimistic coping style could prevent the progression of the CP.
