Objective To study the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) characteristic of bone bruises associated with acute anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures and to investigate the correlation between bone bruises and cartilage lesions. Methods The MRI findings of 37 cases of acute ACL ruptures associated with bone bruises were studied retrospestively. The classification and distribution of bone bruises were analyzed and the cartilage lesions were also observed under arthroscopy. Results A total of 57 independent bone bruises(type Ⅰ:14, type Ⅱ:32, type Ⅲ:3, type Ⅳ:6 and type Ⅴ:2) were documented by MRI in the 37 patients. 54 (94.7%) bone bruises located in lateral joint compartment with involvement of lateral femoral condyle in 31 and lateral tibial plateau in 23. Nine cases (15.8%) of articular cartilage lesions were found under arthroscopy in the area overlying bone bruises. Conclusion Bone bruises associated with acute ACL ruptures mainly located in the lateral compartment of knee, especially in anterior portion of lateral femoral condyle and posterior portion of lateral tibial plateau. Arthroscopic cartilage lesions were not corresponding to bone bruises.

This study was aimed to explore the features of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) structures in Shigella by using bioinformatics. We used bioinformatics methods, including BLAST, alignment and RNA structure prediction, to analyze the CRISPR structures of Shigella genomes. The results showed that the CRISPRs existed in the four groups of Shigella, and the flanking sequences of upstream CRISPRs could be classified into the same group with those of the downstream. We also found some relatively conserved palindromic motifs in the leader sequences. Repeat sequences had the same group with corresponding flanking sequences, and could be classified into two different types by their RNA secondary structures, which contain "stem" and "ring". Some spacers were found to homologize with part sequences of plasmids or phages. The study indicated that there were correlations between repeat sequences and flanking sequences, and the repeats might act as a kind of recognition mechanism to mediate the interaction between foreign genetic elements and Cas proteins.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2011;36(1):88-92
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the relationship between the chronic periodontitis (CP) and the depression-anxiety psychological factors.
METHODS:
Thirty-one patients and 29 age, gender-matched volunteers were enrolled for this study. In order to assess the depression-anxiety psychological index, the subjects filled the questionnaire regarding the demographic and socioeconomic information, the oral hygiene habit, the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) and the Self Rating Anxiety Scale(ASA). Calculus index (CI), bleeding on probing (BOP), probing depth (PD), clinical attachment loss (CAL), furcation involvement (FI) and tooth mobility were assessed at 6 sites per tooth of all erupted teeth by a manual periodontal probe. The data were analyzed by the analysis of variance, χ(2) test, and multivariable logistic step wise analysis via the software of SPSS 15.0.
RESULTS:
The mean CAL of the control group was 0.46 ± 0.16,the mean CAL of the moderate, high, and severe CP group was 2.84 ± 0.12, 3.51 ± 0.34, and 4.71 ± 0.51, respectively, which is significant difference between each other (P<0.01). The depression index of the volunteers, the moderate CP, the high CP, and the severe CP was 30.52 ± 3.73, 35.83 ± 7.76, 37.25 ± 6.16, 37.82 ± 5.94, respectively. The anxiety index among the 4 groups was 26.69 ± 3.55, 37.67 ± 6.31, 32.87 ± 5.54, and 35.94 ± 6.30, respectively. The depression and anxiety indexes of the periodontitis groups were higher than those of the control (P<0.01) while there was no significant difference among the 3 CP groups (P>0.05). The multivariate logistic analysis of the relationship between CP and the depression-anxiety psychological factors showed that the depression psychological factor was B=2.301,OR=9.988 while the optimistic coping style was B=-5.174,OR=0.006 in the equation of the regression.
CONCLUSION
The depression psychological factor was related to the progression of CP. In addition, the optimistic coping style could prevent the progression of the CP.

Objective To detect the distribution of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat(CRISPR)associated protein genes cas1 and cas2 in Shigella and to understand the characteristics of CRISPR with relationship between CRISPR and related characteristics on drug resistance. Methods CRISPR associated protein genes cas1 and cas2 in Shigella were detected by PCR,with its products sequenced and compared. Results The CRISPR-associated protein genes cas1 and cas2 were found in all the 196 Shigella isolates which were isolated at different times and locations in China. Consistencies showed through related sequencing appepared as follows:cas2,cas1 (a) and cas1(b)were 96.44%,97.61%and 96.97%,respectively. There were two mutations including 3177129 site(C→G)and 3177126 site(G→C)of cas1(b)gene in 2003135 strain which were not found in the corresponding sites of Z23 and 2008113. Results showed that in terms of both susceptibility and antibiotic-resistance,strain 2003135 was stronger than Z23 and 2008113. Conclusion CRISPR system widely existed in Shigella, with the level of drug resistance in cas1(b) gene mutant strains higher than in wild strains. Cas1(b)gene mutation might be one of the reasons causing the different levels of resistance.

OBJECTIVETo determine the medicinal part and varieties of Cannabis Sativa through herbal textual research to Provide bibliographic reference for clinical application.
METHODHerbal textual research of C. Sativa from ancient herbal works and modern data analysis.
RESULTThrough the herbal textual research, the plant of the C. sativa, for Fructus Cannabis used now is identical with that described in ancient herbal literatures. People did not make a sharp distinction on medicinal part of C. sativa in the early stage literatures, female inflorescence and unripe fruit, fruit and kernel of seed were all used. Since Taohongjing realized the toxicity ofpericarp, all the herbal and prescription works indicate that the pericarp shall be removed before usage and only the kernel can be used. However, in modem literatures, both fruit and kernel can be used as medicinal part.
CONCLUSIONThe plants for Fructus Cannabis described in modern and ancient literatures are identical. The base of the original plant is the same either in ancient or modern. And the toxicity of the fruit is more than that of the kernel. The kernel is the exact medicinal part of C. Sativa.

Objective:To further understand the current status of diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis in China, the implementation of guideline in different levels of hospitals, and the need for continuing education in endometriosis among primary doctors. Methods:The survey was conducted in the form of convenience sampling questionnaire among the Wechat public platform. The doctors were free to participate in the investigation without any reward. All questions answered were assessed as valid questionnaire. The datas were collected on the questionnaire network platform and analyzed by SPSS 19.0.Results:Totally 1 494 valid questionnaires were collected in this survey. 60.17% (899/1 494) of them were from tertiary hospital, and 32.60% (487/1 494) were from grade two hospital. Only the hospitals where 9.97% (149/1 494) participants based opened the specialist clinic for endometriosis. 70.35% (1 051/1 494) of participants said they had read the second edition of guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis which published in 2015. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) staging system was adopted in the clinical practices of only 25.03% (374/1 494) participants. And 18.74% (280/1 494) participants used the endometriosis fertility index (EFI) scoring during the laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis with infertility. 45.18% (675/1 494) of participants said they had not attended any academic conference on endometriosis in the past six months. 64.46% (963/1 494) of the participants believed their diagnosis and treatment in practice should be improved and standardized. 87.15% (1 302/1 494) of the participants expressed the hope that more conferences or workshops on endometriosis would be held. Conclusions:At presents, the diagnosis and treatment of endometriosis in China has been greatly improved, but the implementation of guidelines and the new concept is still a long-term job. The specialist clinic are held only in a few hospitals. It’s the expectation and voice of primary doctors to the association to organize the more academic congresses on endometriosis.
