Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2009;15(10):942-944
Objective To study and observe the intervention effects of Acupuncture on spinal cord injury rats by using factorial design. The best combination rules of the best time course and electrical stimulation site were explored. Methods 96 experimental spinal cord injury rats were randomly divided into four groups: acupuncture on head intervention group (group A), acupuncture on body intervention group (group B), complex intervention group (group A+B) and nonintervention group (group D) . There were 24 rats in each group. The rats received electrical stimulation according experimental design. The motor function of the rats' hind limbs were detected at different time sites(1 w, 2 w, 4 w, 8 w and 12 w).Results The Results among different Methods of electrical stimulation are significantly different. The levels of the rat's BBB scale, and evoked potential(MEP) in the group A+B were the best among four groups (P<0.05). The BBB scale and evoked potential(MEP)of the rats in each group are significantly different at different time sites (P<0.05). It means that each kind of electrical stimulation plays a positive role in promoting restoration of motor function. The correct analysis for factorial design data is helpful to the fully application of information. Conclusion Factorial design can be used in research projects of Acupuncture, especially the design for multiple factors and multiple levels.

Objective To compare the advantages of three-dimensional(3D) and two-dimensional(2D) ultrasound in embryo transfer. Methods A total of 319 patients accepted embryo transfter were included in this study. 2D and 3D ultrasound were used to investigate the uterine cavity and transfer distance from the fundus (TDF),respectivly. They were divided into four groups according to TDF difference(D-TDF) between 2D and 3D ultrasound(group of DTDF<3mm,group of DTDF3~5mm,group of 6~9 mm,group of DTDF≥10 mm. Pregnancy outcomes among the four groups were compared. Results Of the 319 patients, 41 were observed to have abnormal uterine cavity. For 140 patients, the TDF measured by 2D ultrasound were different from that measured by 3D ultrasound. Clinical pregnancy rate and implantation rate were found lowest in group of TDF≥10 mm mm (7.7% vs 34.1%,38.1% ,40.0% and 3.6% vs 18.2% ,21.2% ,20.0%, P <0.05). Conclusions 2D ultrasound is limit and deficient for embryo transfer, especially for the visualization of uterine cavity and location of catheter tip, however, it may be better achieved with 3D ultrasound. It is helpful to use the 3D ultrasound to place the catheter tip accurately and improve the pregnancy rate of embryo transfer.

Objective To study the effects of PNESF at different voltages on the life spans of ascites tumor bearing mice. Methods Forty ascites tumor bearing mice were divided into 5 groups and exposed to PNESF at 0,10,17,23 and 30 kV,respectively, for 30 minutes daily on 4 successive days. All of the animals then received routine care until death.Their eating habits, body weights and life spans were observed.A straight line fitting method was used for statistical analysis. Results The body weights of the mice exposed to 17 kV and 23 kV PNESF increased quickly during the four days of PNESF exposure. The weight gain in all groups declined after PNESF exposure was stopped.Thereafter the body weights of the mice exposed to the 17 kV PNESF increased more slowly than those in the control group. The mice exposed to the 23 kV PNESF gained weight more quickly than other groups. The mice exposed to the 17 kV PNESF lived the longest, demonstrating a lengthening of life of 25.5%compared with the control group. Conclusion Exposure to a PNESF of appropriate intensity might significantly increase the life span of ascites tumor bearing mice.

Environmental Health and Preventive Medicine 2002;7(6):292-294
Objective: The fibrogenicity of fur dust was studied in rat lung tissues. Methods: Intratracheal instillation of fur dust, morphologic examination of lungs and analysis of collagen content were performed in Wistar rats. Results: Morphologic examination revealed that the earliest changes consisted of alveolar edema, increased numbers of intraalveolar macrophages, and marked thickening of interalveolar septa with mixed cellular infiltrate. After sixth months, there was moderate thickening of the alveolar walls and the peribronchioli. After 12 months, interstitial positive fibrosis of the alveolar wall and the peribronchioli were weakly seen. In the carding dust group (silica content 17.6%), interstitial nodules were observed composed of fibroblasts, reticular fibers, and collagen fibers. Electron microscopic examination also showed that alveolar walls became thickened and collagen fiber bundles were seen around bronchioles and small vessels in the carding groups after 12 months. At all stages of analysis, the collagen content in lungs of the fur dust groups was significantly higher than that of the control group. Conclusions: Our study suggested that fur dust might induce weak interstitial fibrosis in the lung.

Chinese Journal of Rheumatology 2008;12(9):610-612
Objective To study the association of serum cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP)with disease activity and early joint destruction of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods The serum levels of COMP were measured with ELISA in 94 patients with RA and 40 controls. The serum level of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), rheumatoid factor (RF), anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies (ACCP) and hand X-ray were examined at the same time. Results Significantly increased serum level of COMP was found in RA patients (11.3±5.2) U/L as compared to that in healthy controls (9.2±1.7) U/L (P=0.017).Serum level of COMP was higher in 64 active patients (14±6) U/L than that in 30 inactive disease (9±4) U/L(P=0.005). COMP level was positively correlated with the number of the affected joints, X-ray stage, CRP and ESR level (P<0.05); but had no correlation with age, disease course, grade of joint function, RF and ACCP levels. Thirty patients were followed for two years and their radiographic changes were evaluated at the baseline and the end of this study. Sixteen of 18 patients with high concentration serum COMP level had radi-ologic progression, but only 5 of 12 patients with no increase of serum COMP had radiologic progression. A significant difference (P=0.013) was founded in the two groups. Conclusion The present data suggests that the level of COMP is high in patients with RA. High serum levels of COMP indicate high disease activity and early progressive of bone destruction in RA patients. We can us COMP as a laboratory marker of RA.

Objective To reconstruct three-dimensional femoral footprint of the anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) by dual-source CT(DSCT),which can provide a novel positioning system particularly applicable in the anatomic ACL reconstruction under arthroscopy. Methods DSCT scanning was performed for the bilateral knees of 30 healthy volunteers.Three-dimensional reconstruction of the lateral wall of the intercondylar notch was done with 64-slice spiral CT workstation(GE,Volume Share2-AW 4.4 version).Double-bundle footprints of the ACL femoral insertions were identified, outlined and marked on the three-dimensional models. The over-the-top junction of the distal femur and the trochlea of femoral lateral condyle was dotted as a reference point O.The femoral footprint long and short axes, the footprint angle between the line passing through 2 centers of anteromedial and posterolateral bundles and the femoral shaft, the distance between 2 bundle centers, the shortest distance from the footprint edge to the distal femoral cartilage, and the shortest distance from the footprint edge to the posterior margin of the femoral cartilage were measured on the models with a standardized scale. Results All the ACL femoral footprints were successfully reconstructed by DSCT in the 60 knee joints. They were relatively protruding, plain, irregular in shape but identical in grey scale, distinct areas on the image. On the three-dimensional models of femoral lateral condyle,a 3-point-2-angle positioning system applicable in arthroscopic anatomic ACL reconstruction was successfully established and used to define and describe the double-bundle insertions of ACL.The mean long and short axes of ACL femoral footprint were respectively 16.5 ± 1.8 mm and 8.0 ± 1.3 mm; the mean ACL footprint angle was 8.3° ±4.9°; the mean distance between 2 bundle centers was 7.8 ± 1.0 mm; the mean shortest distance from the footprint edge to the distal femoral cartilage was 1.6 ± 1.5 mm; the mean shortest distance from the footprint edge to the posterior margin of the femoral cartilage was 1.7 ± 0.9 mm. Conclusions Three-dimensional ACL femoral footprints can be clearly reconstructed with DSCT.Natural ACL femoral footprints vary from person to person, which indicates a need of individualized reconstruction in order to restore the anatomy in maximum. The 3-point-2-angle positioning system we have developed is just suitable for arthroscopic ACL reconstruction.

BACKGROUND:With the development of the oral cavity planting technology, dental implants have been strongly retained and stabilized, characterized as both aesthetic appearance and functional achievements. Especial y, they are accepted by more and more patients due to no damage to adjacent teeth. However, diabetes may not only lead to periodontal disease, but also result in delayed healing of the oral mucosa and alveolar bone as wel as infection. OBJECTIVE:To summarize the relationship between diabetes and peri-implantitis, and focus on the maintenance of dental implants for diabetic patients. METHODS:A computer retrieval of PubMed and CNKI databases was performed for relevant articles published from January 1980 to January 2016 using the keywords of“diabetes;peri-implantitis”in English and Chinese, respectively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:We confirm that diabetes is a relative contraindication to implant restoration, but the use of a series of methods that ensure the successful osseointegration, including blood glucose control, strictly prohibiting early loading or multi-implant restoration for single alveolar bone, anti-infection, implant surface modification, can make high success rate for diabetic patients. This brings the gospel to diabetic patients who hope to solve the problem of missing teeth by implant-supported prosthesis.

Objective To observe the effect of connect meridians inducing Yin from Yang on muscle-tension after cerebral infarction. Methods 82 patients with cerebral infarction in Second Hospital of Harbin from 2010 to 2014 were divided into observation group (n=41) and control group (n=41) according to hospitalization order. The observation group accepted acupuncture of connecting meridians inducing Yin from Yang, and the control group accepted the traditional acupuncture method for 2 weeks. The situation of spasticity, the motor limb function of limbs, and activities of daily living were evaluated with modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), Clinic Spasticity Index (CSI), Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) and Barthel index (BI), respectively. Results Compared with the control group, the score of MAS decreased (t=2.212, P=0.030), the score of CSI decreased (t=2.514, P=0.014), the score of FMA increased (t=4.288, P<0.001), and the score of BI in-creased (t=2.970, P=0.004) in the observation group after treatment. Conclusion The acupuncture of connecting meridians inducing Yin from Yang can reduce the muscle-tension of limbs, improve the motor function and increase the activities of daily living.
