Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2015;(5):324-327
Objective:To evaluate the clinical effects of warm needling for scapulohumeral periarthritis (SP). Methods:Eighty-six patients with SP due to wind, cold and dampness in conformity with the research criteria were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group. The control group was given the routine acupuncture treatment and the observation group was treated by warm needling. The treatment was given once every day and ten sessions made one course. After two courses, the therapeutic effects and the changes in the scores of visual analogue scale (VAS) were observed. Results:After treatment, VAS scores were statistically different from those before treatment in the two groups (P<0.05); and VAS score was lower in the observation group than that in the control group, with a statistical difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The curative and remarkable effective rate was 74.4% in the observation group and 44.2% in the control group. The difference in the curative and remarkable effective rate was statistically significant between the two groups (P<0.01). But, the difference in the total effective rate was not statistically significant between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:The warm needling has the dual effect of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of SP due to wind, cold and dampness, and its clinical effect is better than routine acupuncture treatment.

International Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2008;29(5):416-417
Objective To investigate the change of serum prealbumin (PA) and C-reactive protein (CRP) in burn patients and its clinical significance. Methods Sixty eight cases of burn patients were divided into two groups, group Ⅰ [n=38,with total burn surface area less than 15% of total body surface area (TBSA)] and groupⅡ(n=30,with total burn surface area more than 50% of TBSA). Thirty healthy people were set as healthy control group. Particle enhanced immunoturbidimetic assay was applied to detecting the serum levels of PA and CRP for all subjects on the day 1 after burns. Results The CRP level was much higher and serum level of PA was much lower in group Ⅱ than that of group Ⅰ,respectively. There existed significant negative correlation between PA and CRP level. Conclusion The level of serum PA decreases significantly along with total burn surface area expansion. PA can be used as a sensitive marker for estimation of inflammation degree after burns.

ObjectiveTo obsrve the clinical efficacy of acupuncture, herbal medicine, plus Ethinylestradiol and Cyproterone Acetate tablets in treating infertility due to obesity-type polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).MethodA hundred elegible patients were divided into a treatment group and a control group according to their visiting sequence and random number table. The two groups both received oral administration of Ethinylestradiol and Cyproterone Acetate tables for 3 months. Afterwords, the treatment group was given Chinese herbal medication and acupuncture, while the control group received oral administration of Metforminand Clomiphene plus muscular injection of human menopausal gonadotropin(HMG) and human choionic gonadotropin (HCG). Both groups received a 3-month course. Before and 3 months after the intervention, serum sex hormones were detected, including:follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), testosterone (T), estrodiol (E2), and prolactin (PRL); fasting sugar, sugar tolerance, and insulin release were measured; ovulation, pregnance rate, and total effective rate were calculated.ResultAfter intervention, there were significant differences in comparing LH, LH/FSH, ovulation, and the incidence of follicle hyperstimulating syndrome between the two groups (P<0.05); there were no significant differences in comparing sugar metabolism, insulin release, comprehensive efficacy, dominant follicle count, and pregnancy rate(P>0.05). After intervention, the LH and LH/FSH levels were significantly changed in the treatment group, while the LH and LH/FSH levels, ovulation, and dominant follicle count were significantly changed in the control group (P<0.05), but pregnancy rate and follicle hyperstimulating syndrome were insignificantly changed in both groups (P>0.05).ConclusionCombination of acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and Ehinylestradiol and Cyproterone Acetate tablets can down-regulate the LH and LH/FSH levels, andenhance ovulation, without causing follicle hyperstimulating syndrome.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
ERIC-PCR has been widely used as genomic fingerprinting technology for classification and identification of bacterial isolates. Recently, it has been used by some labs to characterize bacterial mixtures. However, there are still disputes regarding the mechanism of product formation in ERIC-PCR. We cloned and sequenced the 1. 1kb major band of the ERIC-PCR fingerprint of E. coli K-12 strain MG1655, the strain used for whole genome sequencing, and found that the band consisted of 3 different DNA fragments with one fragment the most abundant (93 out of 95 clones, i. e. 97. 89%). Sequence analysis showed that two of the three fragments amplified from a chromosomal region where one ERIC element exist either upstream or downstream, while one fragment amplified from a region where no ERIC element was found. It was thus postulated that ERIC-PCR is not an absolutely random amplified PCR technique, especially when it is applied to those genomes containing ERIC elements.
