Chinese Journal of Hepatobiliary Surgery 2012;18(7):512-514
Objective To study the efficacy of complete hemihepatic vascular exclusion (CHVE) in the prevention of tumour dissemination during liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).MethodsA case-control study was carried out on 281 patients who underwent liver resection for HCC between February 2006 and April 2010.89 patients underwent hepatic resection using CHVE (group A) and 192 using Pringle maneuver (group B).The postoperative 1-,2-,3 year rates of intrahepatic recurrence and lung metastasis, and the overall disease-free survivals were compared between the two groups.ResultsThe incidence of lung metastasis at 1 year after operation was significantly lower in group A than group B (6.7% vs.15.1%,P=0.048).There were no signilicant differences in the incidences of lung metastasis at postoperative year 2 and 3 between the two groups (15.7% vs.25.0% and 32.6% vs.30.7% ; P>0.05).The differences in the postoperative 1-,2-,3- year intrahepatic recurrence rates were not significant between the two groups (20.2% vs.31.8%,51.7% vs.60.3%,68.5% vs.79.2%,respectively; P>0.05).The median survivals of the two groups were 25.9 months and 21.7 months, respectively.Patients in group A had a significantly higher overall disease-free survival rate than patients in group B (P=0.035).ConclusionsCHVE was efficacious in reducing the incidence of lung metastasis and in improving the overall disease-free survival in patients after liver resection for HCC.CHVE contributed in preventing intraoperative tumour dissemination and in improving prognosis.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 1993;0(05):-
Objective To observe the effect of Chinese Medicines with the function of antioxidation on lupus nephritis(LN)pa- tients. Methods The 25 LN patients consisting of renal function normal group(15 cases)and renal failure group(10 cases)were treated with Huang Qi(Radix Hedysari)and Shu Dihuang(Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata)as main ingredients for 6 months in suc- cession.Changes of symptom, systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity index(SLEDAI),activity index(AI),lipid peroxide (LPO),superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxide(GSH-Px),malondialchehyche(MDA),nitric oxide(NO),blood and urine routine examination,24-hour urine protein quantity, liver and kidney function,anti-double-stranded DNA(anti ds-DNA),complement 3(C_3)and complement 4(C_4),after treatment were observed. Results SLEDAI and AI scores were remarkably different from those before treatment(P

Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
Quinone is one of the electron transporters of the microbial respiratory chain. The dominant quinone of one species of bacteria is different from other bacteria. So the quinone profile of environmental samples can reflect the microbial community. This paper briefly introduces the analytical method used for microbial quinones. The microbial community in an activated sludge sample is studied using this method.

Objective: To obtain a strain which has stronger antagonistic effect against Streptococcus mutans(S. mutans), and then to study the antagonistic effect of the fermentation filtrate of the strains. Method:Surface soil samples were harvested and used in an in vitro bacteria culture system for screening of antagonistic strains against Streptococcus mutans. Ferment filtrate of the strains was respectively prepared and the antagonism of the filtrate against S. mutans was examined.Result:A strain with strong restrain effect on Streptococcus mutans was found and was identified to be Bacillus licheniformis. The strain was named strain 1#. At pH 7.0, 150 r/min and constant temperature of 30 ℃ cultivated for 24 hours, the antagonistic energy of ferment filtrate was 1 500 IU/ml,the ferment filtrate showed strong heat stability, at 37 ℃ for 1 hour, the activity decreased by 35%; at 60 ℃ for 30 min, by 47%, for 1 h, by 50%, at 100 ℃,the activity maintained 39%.The optimum pH for the activity of the ferment filtrate was 7.0, at pH 3.0, the activity kept 70% and at pH 11.0, 65%.Conclusion:The fermentation filtrate of strain 1# of Bacillus licheniformis is antagonistic against S. mutans.

Journal of Environment and Health 2007;0(07):-
Objective To observe the anti-androgenic activity of two pyrethroids (cypermethrin and fenpropathrin) in vivo. Methods SD rats aged 6 weeks were castrated ,and then housed for one week. The rats were randomly divided into groups, six in each: negative control group, cypermethrin and fenpropathrin group, positive control group. The rats were subcutaneously injected with testosterone propionate (TP) 100 ?g(/kg?d)for 7 consecutive days. Peanut oil, cypermethrin [ 45, 90, 180 mg/(kg?d)], fenpropathrin[10, 20, 40 mg/ (kg?d) ], flutamide[ 20 mg(/kg?d) ] were subcutaneously injected for 7 consecutive days at the same time. The sex accessory glands and serum hormone were detected. Results Compared with the negative group, no significant differences were observed in the sex accessory glands/tissues (seminal vesicles with coagulating glands, dorsolateral prostate, the ventral prostate and levator ani muscles) and the levels of serum hormones of the pyrethroids groups. Compared with the negative group, the masses of all the sex accessory glands/tissues decreased significantly in the positive group . Compared with the negative group, the level of LH increased significantly in the positive group. Conclusion No obvious anti-androgenic effects induced by cypermethrin and fenpropathrin in castrated SD rats has been observed.

Objective To study the mechanism of diabetic nephropathy(DN) in type 2 diabetes mellitus of blood glucose fluctuation and oxidative stress. Methods 90 patients with type 2 DN were selected, included 30 cases of the normal albuminuria (DM group),30 cases of microalbuminuria (NA group),30 cases of the mass albuminuria (MA group),and during the same period,30 healthy persons in our hospital for medical examination were selected as the control group(NC group). The blood glucose, blood lipid, blood glucose fluctuation and oxidative stress were compared among the 4 groups. Results The blood glucose(FBG),postprandial 2h blood glucose(2hPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c) levels had statistically significantly differences among the 4 groups(F=23.088,24.356,43.553,all P<0.05),which in the NC group[(4.03±1.12)mmol/L,(7.11±1.41)mmol/L,(4.11±0.83)%]were lower than the other 3 groups[DM group:(6.34±1.48)mmol/L,(9.13±1.52)mmol/L,(6.67±1.24)%;NA group:(6.58±1.53)mmol/L,(9.78±1.79)mmol/L,(7.53±1.51)%;MA group:(6.84±1.71)mmol/L,(10.23±1.36)mmol/L,(8.11±2.02)%](F=23.088,24.356,43.553,all P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in total cholesterol(TC),three acyl glycerin(TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) among the 4 groups(F=1.079,1.732,0.358,1.428,all P>0.05).The mean amplitude of glycemic excursions(MAGE),mean absolute value of blood glucose(MODD),superoxide dismutase(SOD) and malondialdehyde(MDA) levels in the 4 groups had statistically significant differences(F=37.350,216.899,21.003,93.211,all P<0.05).Correlation analysis showed that in patients with type 2 DN,negative correlation was observed between SOD and MAGE and MODD(r=-0.430,-0.523,all P<0.05),MDA and MAGE,MODD was positively correlated(r=0.534,0.624,all P<0.05).Conclusion Blood glucose fluctuation is involved in the occurrence and development of DN,the mechanism may be correlated with oxidative stress.
