Objective To study the efficacy of complete hemihepatic vascular exclusion (CHVE) in the prevention of tumour dissemination during liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).MethodsA case-control study was carried out on 281 patients who underwent liver resection for HCC between February 2006 and April 2010.89 patients underwent hepatic resection using CHVE (group A) and 192 using Pringle maneuver (group B).The postoperative 1-,2-,3 year rates of intrahepatic recurrence and lung metastasis,and the overall disease-free survivals were compared between the two groups.ResultsThe incidence of lung metastasis at 1 year after operation was significantly lower in group A than group B (6.7％ vs.15.1％,P=0.048).There were no signilicant differences in the incidences of lung metastasis at postoperative year 2 and 3 between the two groups (15.7％ vs.25.0％ and 32.6％ vs.30.7％ ; P＞0.05).The differences in the postoperative 1-,2-,3- year intrahepatic recurrence rates were not significant between the two groups (20.2％ vs.31.8％,51.7％ vs.60.3％,68.5％ vs.79.2％,respectively; P＞0.05).The median survivals of the two groups were 25.9 months and 21.7 months,respectively.Patients in group A had a significantly higher overall disease-free survival rate than patients in group B (P=0.035).ConclusionsCHVE was efficacious in reducing the incidence of lung metastasis and in improving the overall disease-free survival in patients after liver resection for HCC.CHVE contributed in preventing intraoperative tumour dissemination and in improving prognosis.

Background Based on prior research in the field, a preliminary questionnaire was created to compare the coping strategies of schizophrenic patients to those of non-ill community residents. Results of the comparison were subsequently used to develop a questionnaire suitable for use in schizophrenic patients.Methods Ninety-one of the 92 items in the preliminary questionnaire were identified from previous questionnaires, and one additional item was created based on information provided in individual interviews with schizophrenic patients. This questionnaire was administered to 315 community controls and 208 schizophrenic inpatients. Exploratory Factor Analyses to identify the factor structure of coping strategies were independently conducted for controls and patients. Based on these results, a revised 65-item instrument was developed and administered to a new group of 287 controls and 219 schizophrenic inpatients. Confirmatory Factor Analyses (CFA) using Linear Structural Relations (LISREL) were independently conducted for the two groups to confirm their respective factor structures.Results Six coping categories identified in normal controls were problem solving, avoidance, cognitive adjustment, emotional adjustment, seeking special support, and denial. Among schizophrenic patients, however,coping strategies of "seeking special support" and "denial" were not independent of the other four coping categories. Their items were distributed among the others. Results of CFA confirmed this four-category model of coping strategies for schizophrenic patients.Conclusions Coping categories employed by schizophrenic patients were different from those employed by normal community controls. Schizophrenic patients lacked the necessary flexibility of selecting appropriate coping strategies.

Objective To investigate the disease occurrence-related factors and severity of alcoholic hepatitis (AH) and alcoholic liver cirrhosis (ALC).Methods According to the clinical diagnostic criteria that were passed by the 2010 Chinese Society of Fatty Liver Hepatology and alcoholic liver disease study group,the clinical data of 241 AH and ALC patients were analyzed.Results The amount of liquor taken daily,the time limit of drinking,and total amount of liquor taken in ALC patients were significantly different from those in AH patients (P ＜0.01),respectively.In ALC patients,the proportion (48.39％)of workers,peasants,and unemployed low-income alcoholics was significantly higher than that (25.58％)in AH patients (P ＜0.01).Laboratory tests showed the AST/ALT ratio in the ALC group (2.63 ±4.74)was significantly higher than that in the AH group (1.01 ±0.52) (P ＜0.01); TG [(1.33±1.24)mmol/L] and cholesterol (CHOL) [(3.14 ± 1.25) mmol/L] in ALC group were significantly lower than TG [(2.29 ± 1.60)mmol/L] and CHOL [(4.27 ±0.79)mmol/L] in the AH group (P ＜0.01).Conclusions Alcoholic liver disease occurrence and severity were related to the amount of liquor taken,the time limit of drinking,and the work ; AST/ALT ratio,TG and CHOL values were consistent with the severity of alcoholic liver disease.

Objective To explore the precaution efficacy of Resina Draconis for pressure ulcers in malignant tumor patients with forced position.Methods According to digital table method,168 malignant tumor patients with forced position were randomly divided into observation group and control group.Furthermore,the control group accepted the basic nursing,the observation group accepted the basic nursing and the Resina Draconis packed in bone-like parts.Afterwards,the patients' local skins were observed at intervals,and the incidence rates of pressure sores were compared between the two groups.Results The incidence rate of pressure ulcers of the observation group was 3.57％,which of the control group was 11.90％,the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (x2 =4.085,P =0.043).Conclusion Application of Resina Draconis can prevent pressure sores in malignant tumor patients with forced position.

Objective: To obtain a strain which has stronger antagonistic effect against Streptococcus mutans(S. mutans), and then to study the antagonistic effect of the fermentation filtrate of the strains. Method:Surface soil samples were harvested and used in an in vitro bacteria culture system for screening of antagonistic strains against Streptococcus mutans. Ferment filtrate of the strains was respectively prepared and the antagonism of the filtrate against S. mutans was examined.Result:A strain with strong restrain effect on Streptococcus mutans was found and was identified to be Bacillus licheniformis. The strain was named strain 1#. At pH 7.0, 150 r/min and constant temperature of 30 ℃ cultivated for 24 hours,the antagonistic energy of ferment filtrate was 1 500 IU/ml,the ferment filtrate showed strong heat stability, at 37 ℃ for 1 hour, the activity decreased by 35%; at 60 ℃ for 30 min, by 47%, for 1 h, by 50%, at 100 ℃,the activity maintained 39%.The optimum pH for the activity of the ferment filtrate was 7.0, at pH 3.0, the activity kept 70% and at pH 11.0, 65%.Conclusion:The fermentation filtrate of strain 1# of Bacillus licheniformis is antagonistic against S. mutans.

Objective To observe the anti-androgenic activity of two pyrethroids (cypermethrin and fenpropathrin) in vivo. Methods SD rats aged 6 weeks were castrated ,and then housed for one week. The rats were randomly divided into groups, six in each: negative control group,cypermethrin and fenpropathrin group, positive control group. The rats were subcutaneously injected with testosterone propionate (TP) 100 ?g(/kg?d)for 7 consecutive days. Peanut oil, cypermethrin [ 45, 90, 180 mg/(kg?d)], fenpropathrin[10, 20, 40 mg/ (kg?d) ], flutamide[ 20 mg(/kg?d) ] were subcutaneously injected for 7 consecutive days at the same time. The sex accessory glands and serum hormone were detected. Results Compared with the negative group, no significant differences were observed in the sex accessory glands/tissues (seminal vesicles with coagulating glands, dorsolateral prostate, the ventral prostate and levator ani muscles) and the levels of serum hormones of the pyrethroids groups. Compared with the negative group, the masses of all the sex accessory glands/tissues decreased significantly in the positive group . Compared with the negative group, the level of LH increased significantly in the positive group. Conclusion No obvious anti-androgenic effects induced by cypermethrin and fenpropathrin in castrated SD rats has been observed.

Objective To understand the situation of benzene series compounds pollution inside some Passenger cars in Tangshan and provide data for the formulation of corresponding countermeasures for the prevention and control of the pollution. Methods One hundred and twenty-two cars used for different periods of time were selected from March, 2009 to May, 2009 and the concentrations of benzene,toluene and xylene were determined.At the same time the basic situation (car type, date of manufacture) was investigated with questionnaire. Results The disqualified rate of benzene, toluene, xylene were 14.8%(18/122), 26.2%(32/122) and 20.5%(25/122) respectively. Eighty-one cars did not meet the standard, accounting for 66.4 %(81/122). The median of benzene, toluene, xylene in the cars used within six months were 0.086, 0.900, 0.400 mg/m3 respectively. The exceeded rate of benzene, toluene, xylene inside the cars which were used for not more than six months were 28.6%(10/35), 57.1%(20/35), 60.0%(21/35) respectively. The concentrations of benzene series compounds decreased gradually later on. The concentrations of benzene inside the cars with adsorbent were lower, the concentrations of toluene inside the highgrade cars were higher and the concentrations of xylene inside the cars with leather seats was higher. Conclusion Benzene, toluene, xylene pollution inside cars has been showed in this investigation in Tangshan. The concentrations of benzene series compounds are associated with using time, adsorbent, car grade and the seat material.
