Journal of Clinical Neurology 1993;0(03):-
Objective To study the relationship between cognitive dysfunction and depression and event-related potential(ERP) in patients with silent brain infarction(SBI).Methods 68 SBI patients were tested by the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale for Depression(HAMD),scale of mini mental state examination(MMSE)and ERP;and the results were compared with those in 55 patients without cerebral infarction(control group). Results In the SBI group, the HAMD score was ≥17 in 31(45.6%)cases(depression subgroup)and

Objective To investigate the possible mechanism of Compounded Sour Medicinal Herbs (CSMH) in preventing and amelioration type 2 diabetic mellitus (T2DM) rats chronic complication, by analyzing the effects of CSMH on the deposition of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and gene expression of their receptor myocardial tissue in T2DM rats. Methods The rats were injected with streptozotocin (STZ) through peritoneum, and fed with high-fat and high-caloric diets to induce T2DM animal models. Then the rats were randomly divided into three groups:untreated group (model group), AG treated group and CSMH treated group. The deposition of AGEs and gene expression of RAGE in the myocardial tissue of T2DM rats were detected separately by fluorescence and real time PCR method. Results The deposition of AGEs and gene expression of their receptor in myocardial tissue in control group were lower than that of T2DM rats (P
5.L-arginine facilitates the hyperplasia of sebaceous gland in rats
Chinese Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics 2004;0(09):-
AIM: To study the effects of L-arginine on sebaceous gland hyperplasia in rats. METHODS: 10 mg?kg -1?d -11 of L-arginine was poured into the stomach in Sprague-Dawley rats for 7-14 d. The pathology phenomenon was observed in the rat skin. RESULTS: The backside skin of the male SD rats showed dewiness, greasiness and engrained yellow. The incidence was 100% for 7 d in the male SD rats, 80% in the female SD rats for 14 d, but 100% in the immature female SD rats for 14 d. CONCLUSION: L-arg nine can facilitate the hyperplasia of sebaceous gland in SD rats.

Objective To analyze the reasons of the occlusal disorder after mistaken concrescence of maxillofacial fracture, to observe the effect of the physiotherapy for the masticatory movement and the masticatory efficiency after occlusal reconstruction with fixed prosthesis. Methods The reasons of occlusal disorder of 45 patients were analyzed by reviewing the case history and clinical examination. Ultrasound diathermy and laser irradiation were used to help improve masticatory movement. The fixed prosthesis was used to reconstruct the occlusal relationship. Masticatory efficiency was measured with the method of sift out before treatment, one month and one year after treatment. Results The main reason of occlusal disorder was the delay of treatment because of the other treatment of body after trauma. The physiotherapy was effective in improving the masticatory movement. Statistically analysis showed the significantly difference before and after occlusal reconstruction with fixed prosthesis ( P

Objective To observe the changes of nitric oxide(NO), nitric oxide synthase(NOS),and endothelin(ET) contents in plasma after acute cerebral infarction(ACI), And to evaluate the therapeutic effect of nimodipine on their changes. Methods 110 cases with ACI were randomly divided into Nimodipine therapeutic group(Nimodipine is used with general therapy,Nimodipine group) and general therapeutic group(general group). NO, NOS and ET contents in plasma at different time after ACI were observed, while control group was set up.Results ET content in plasma after ACI increased significantly until recovery. NO and NOS contents in plasma rise at the beginning, then they declined. ET contents had significant difference between Nimodipine group and general group( P 0.05).Conclusion NO, NOS and ET interfered with the complex process of pathologic after acute cerebral infarction. Nimodipine had therapeutic action on ACI partly depended on affecting content of ET in plasma.

Journal of Clinical Neurology 1993;0(03):-
Objective To evaluate the reliability of transcranial doppler (TCD) in detection spasm of middle cerebral artery (MCA),vertebral artery (VA ) and basilar artery (BA).Methods TCD and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) examination were undertaken in 50 patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage. Results Arterial spasm was diagnosed in 26 MCA by DSA,21 of which were detected by TCD at same time.4 MCA were showed by TCD but not confirmed by DSA. The sensitivity and specificity of TCD in diagnosing MCA spasm were 80.8% and 84.0% respectively. Higher sensitivity was revealed in those with severe MCA spasm. DSA also found out asterial spasm of BA in 18 BA,among which 13 arteries were detected by TCD simutaneously.4 BA were diagnosed by TCD but not proved by DSA. The sensitivity and the specificity of TCD in diagnosing BA spasm were 72.2% and 76.5% respectively.28 VA were diagnosed by DSA,among which 20 arteries were proved by TCD.6 VA were detected by TCD but not proved by DSA. The sensitivity and specificity of TCD in diagnosing VA spasm were 71.4% and 76.9% respectively. Conclusion TCD is reliable in diagnosing the spasm of MCA,BA and VA.

Disseminated malignancy is the main cause of cancer-related death. The spontaneous circulation of tumor cells is responsible for distant metastasis;therefore it is of potential importance to specifically and sensitively detect the circulating tumor cells, which not only allows for more accurate prediction of cancer prognosis, but also helps to tailor individualized anticancer treatment. This paper reviews the enrichment, detection and analyzing methods of circulating tumor cells.

Objective To observe the relationship between serum bilirubin levels of elderly heart failure patients and type, clinical symptom and prognosis of the heart failure. To explore the pathophysiological role of heme oxygenase 1/CO bilirubin system in the pathogenesis of the heart failure. Methods Serum total bilirubin and direct bilirubin and indrect bilirubin levels of 57 inpatients admitted to our depatment because of heart failure from April 1998 to June 2000 were examined in the second day, first and second week after admission, respectively. Results (1) Compared with the recovery stage of the heart failure, the serum total bilirubin levels during the heart failure attack increased by 52 9% and 78 9%, respectively than the first and second week after the attack(26 1 ?mol/L vs 17 4 ?mol/L and 14 6 ?mol/L, P
