Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of long-pulsed Nd:YAG 1064 laser on hyperplastic scars by using a rabbit ear model. Methods Five female and five male New Zealand long-ear white rabbits weighting 2.0-2.5 kg were used in this experiment.Four square full-thickness skin wounds sized 1.5 cm x1.5 cm were created on the ventral surface of each ear to develop a model of hyperplastic scar. Finally,a total of 74 hyperplastic scars developed on the 80 wounds, and the scars on the left and right ears served as the control (unirradiated) and treatment (irradiated with long-pulsed 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser) group, respectively. After 30 days of irradiation, the color and texture of scars were observed and the scar thickness was measured by color Doppler ultrasonogTaphy. Then, the scars were harvested followed by the analysis of density of fibroblasts and microvessels as well as the changes in collagen fibers in scars by HE staining,CD31 staining and Masson staining, respectively. Results A decrease was observed in the color, hardness and thickness of scars in the irradiated ears compared with the unirradiated ears. The average thickness of scars, microvessel density and fibroblast density in scars were significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group(2.137vs.3.089 am,t=5.72,P<0.01;38.333/mm2vs.68.056/mm2,t=4.93,P<0.01;166.940/mm2vs.355.000/mm2,t=13.36.P<0.01).Masson staining revealed a disorganized arrangement of collagen fibers in the control group but a sparse and regular alignment in the treatment group. Conclusion Long-pulsed 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser may promote the shrinkage and suppress the hyperplasia of scars.

Journal of Audiology and Speech Pathology 2000;8(3):143-145
ObjectiveTo search for the optimum external masking time and tonal models for patients with tinnitus.MethodsTwenty-seven patients with cochlear tinnitus were selected respectively from three different out-patients departments and divided into three groups. Nine patients in every group were treated with different masking parameters according to factorial design which had three masking noises, i.e. narrow band noise (NBN), wide band noise (WBN), speech noise (SN),and three masking time ranges, i.e. 15,30,45 minutes. The results before and after treatment were compared and analysed with analysis of variance (ANOVA). ResultsThe treatment effect when masking for 15 minutes was worse than that for 30,45 minutes, but there was no difference between 30 and 45 minutes. The NBN had the best effect when tinnitus signal was single, the WBN was effective for tinnitus with multiple sounds. ConclusionNBN or WBN masking for 30 minutes showed better therapeutic effect.

OBJECTIVE:To study the adsorbability of plastic transfusion bottle and infusion set to diazepam. METHODS:With the reference of plastic-bottled 5% glucose injection,HPLC was used to determine the changes of mass concentration of diazepam adding into plastic-bottled 5% glucose injection at different time;disposable plastic infusion set was connected to simulate intrave-nous infusion and determine the changes of mass concentration of diazepam in the liquid effluent at different time. RESULTS:The mass concentration of diazepam in glass infusion bottles group was higher than in plastic transfusion bottles group. The adsorbabili-ties of solutions showed the strongest at the time of 15-20 min. The mass concentration of the effluent liquid from the glass bottle group was about 80% of the original concentration and plastic bottle group was about 67%. As the time went on,the adsorbability was gradually saturated at 60 min and the concentration rose again;the mass concentration of the effluent liquid from the glass bot-tle group returned to 95%of the original concentration at 80 min and the plastic bottle group was about 75%of the original concen-tration. CONCLUSIONS:Both plastic infusion bottle and infusion set have strong adsorbability to diazepam. It is suggested that the dosage of diazepam should be increased by 25% to 33% while plastic-bottled 5% glucose injection is used as solvent for intrave-nous drip.

Objective To evaluate the surgical treatment of huge staghorn stones. Method The clinic dates of 184 cases treated with an incision of the infrarenal sinus supplemented by a postrenal low pole segmental incision were studied. Result 184 cases were all successful. Conclusion We conclude that this method, need no interruption of renal blood flow had advantages of simple procedure less bleeding, completely removing calculi, protecting renal function.

Disseminated malignancy is the main cause of cancer-related death. The spontaneous circulation of tumor cells is responsible for distant metastasis;therefore it is of potential importance to specifically and sensitively detect the circulating tumor cells, which not only allows for more accurate prediction of cancer prognosis, but also helps to tailor individualized anticancer treatment. This paper reviews the enrichment, detection and analyzing methods of circulating tumor cells.
7.L-arginine facilitates the hyperplasia of sebaceous gland in rats
Chinese Journal of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics 2004;0(09):-
AIM: To study the effects of L-arginine on sebaceous gland hyperplasia in rats. METHODS: 10 mg?kg -1?d -11 of L-arginine was poured into the stomach in Sprague-Dawley rats for 7-14 d. The pathology phenomenon was observed in the rat skin. RESULTS: The backside skin of the male SD rats showed dewiness, greasiness and engrained yellow. The incidence was 100% for 7 d in the male SD rats, 80% in the female SD rats for 14 d, but 100% in the immature female SD rats for 14 d. CONCLUSION: L-arg nine can facilitate the hyperplasia of sebaceous gland in SD rats.

Objective To observe the relationship between serum bilirubin levels of elderly heart failure patients and type, clinical symptom and prognosis of the heart failure. To explore the pathophysiological role of heme oxygenase 1/CO bilirubin system in the pathogenesis of the heart failure. Methods Serum total bilirubin and direct bilirubin and indrect bilirubin levels of 57 inpatients admitted to our depatment because of heart failure from April 1998 to June 2000 were examined in the second day, first and second week after admission, respectively. Results (1) Compared with the recovery stage of the heart failure, the serum total bilirubin levels during the heart failure attack increased by 52 9% and 78 9%, respectively than the first and second week after the attack(26 1 ?mol/L vs 17 4 ?mol/L and 14 6 ?mol/L, P

China Oncology 1998;0(04):-
Purpose:To evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of combination of MabThera and CEOP regimen in the treatment of aggressive B-cell lymphoma. Methods:21 patients diagnosed as aggressive B-cell lymphoma with median age of 48 years old (from 15 to 68 years old),received the treatment of MabThera plus CEOP regimen. This treatment consisted of MabThera 375 mg/m2 intravenously infusion on day 1,cyclophosphamide 750 mg/m 2 ,epirubicin 60 mg/m 2 ,vincristine 2 mg on day3 ,prednisone 40 mg/m 2 orally taken on day 3~7. Results:In all 21 patients,16 (76.2%) complete response and 3 (14.2%) partial response were observed. Thus, the overall response rate was 90.5%. Moreover,of the remaining patients,1(4.8%) achieved stable disease and 1(4.8%) had progressive disease. In the 19 responsive patients, the follow-up duration were from 2 to 15 months. One case of thyroid lymphoma experienced recurrence after 14 months with complete response. Until now,the other responses have been maintained. Only one dose of MabThera infusion related-toxicity was observed in all who received 87 cycles. The hematological toxicities were mainly leucopenia and neutropenia. 5( 23.8% ) experienced 3-4 grade neutropenia. Only 1 patient developed neutropenia fever. The other non-hematological toxicities were 1-2 grade except grade 3 alopecia. Conclusions:The combination of MabThera and CEOP regimen had high efficacy with mild toxicity in the treatment of aggressive B-cell lymphoma, hopefully may become the standard treatment.
