Effects of "Xuetangping", a herbal prescription composed of Radix Astragali, Radix Trichosanthis, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Fructus Corni, and Radix Salviae Miltiorrizae, on serum sugar of mice or rats with diabetes mellitus induced by alloxan were studied. The result showed that "Xuetangping" (2.5g/kg, ig qd 7d or 14d ) lowered serum sugar in diabetic mice but not in normal mice.Xuetangpinec 1.5g/kg,ig qd 7d or 14d in diabetic in a dose and time dependent manner. While 14d, "Xuetangping" also decreased the value of serum lipid and the content of serum lipid peroxide. This result suggest that antiperoxide activity of this Chinese herbal formulation may be related to its reduction in serum sugar

ObjectiveTo explore the effect of home visit based on empowerment education on psychotic symptoms， self-management ability and well-being of schizophrenia patients in home rehabilitation. MethodsA total of 87 cases of schizophrenia patients who met the diagnostic criteria of International Classification of Diseases， tenth edition （ICD-10） and were recovering at home in Caiba town， Yibin city from January to July 2021 were selected by random sampling method as research subjects. They were divided into experimental group （n=43） and control group （n=44） according to the random number table method. The two groups received routine family visits， and the experimental group received family visits based on empowerment education. The intervention cycle of the two groups was 6 months. Before and after the intervention， the severity of psychotic symptoms， self-management ability and well-being of the patients in the two groups were assessed with the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale （BPRS）， the Schizophrenia Self-Management Instrument Scale （SSMIS） and the Index of Well-Being Scale （IWB）. ResultsAfter intervention， the intra group comparison showed that the BPRS score in the experimental group was lower than that before the intervention （t=4.550， P<0.01）， the SSMIS scores in both groups were higher than those before intervention （t=-17.107， -6.367， P<0.01）， and the IWB score in the experimental group was higher than that before intervention （t=-9.239， P<0.01）. The comparison between groups showed that the BPRS score of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group， and the SSMIS and IWB scores were higher than those of the control group （t=-3.899， 10.564， 9.690， P<0.01）. ConclusionThe implementation of family visit based on empowerment education may help to improve the psychotic symptoms of home rehabilitation schizophrenia， and improve their self-management ability and well-being.

Objective To investigate the effect of dexmedetomidine and small dose of ketamine on the hyperalgesia and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) mRNA in the spinal cord of rats with neuropathic pain.Methods Forty-five male Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 240-270 g,were randomly divided into 5 groups (n =9 each):sham operation group (group S),spinal nerve injury (SNI) group,ketamine group (group K),dexmedetomidine group (group D) and dexmedetomidine + ketamine group (group K+ D).The animals were anesthetized with intraperitoneal 10% chloral hydrate 400 mg/kg.SNI was produced by exposing the sciatic nerve and its branches and ligation and transection of tibial nerve and common fibular nerve in groups SNI,K,D and K + D.In S group,the sciatic nerves and its branches were only exposed but not ligated.In groups D,K and K + D,dexmedetomidine 40 μg/kg (2 ml),ketamine 10 mg/kg (2 ml) and mixture of dexmedetomidine 20μg/kg + ketamine 5 mg/kg (2 ml) were injected intraperitoneally,respectively,once a day for 21 consecutive days starting from 24 h after successful SNI surgery.While the equal volume of normal saline 2 ml was injected instead in S and SNI groups.The paw withdrawal threshold to mechanical stimuli (PWT) was measured at 1 day before surgery,and 3,7,14 and 21 days after surgery.Three rats were sacrificed after measurement of pain threshold at 1 day before surgery,and 7 and 21 days after surgery and the lumbar segments (L4-6) of the spinal cord were removed for determination of BDNF mRNA expression in spinal dorsal horn by real time PCR.Results Compared with group S,the PWT was significantly decreased,and the expression of BDNF mRNA in spinal dorsal horn was up-regulated after surgery in groups SNI,K,D and K + D (P ＜ 0.05).The PWT was significantly higher,and the expression of BDNF mRNA in spinal dorsal horn was lower after surgery in groups K,D and K + D than in group SNI,and in group K + D than in groups K and D (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The combination of dexmedetomidine and small dose of ketamine produces a synergistic antinociception in rats with neuropathic pain,and direct or indirect inhibition of BDNF mRNA expression in spinal dorsal horn is involved in the underlying mechanism.

OBJECTIVE To investigate inspection report sheets preserving type and hand hygiene behavior among patients,and to discuss countermeasures to ensure medical safety for patients. METHODS Random sampling investigation was carried out between one experimental group,whose members were general clinic patients,and one control group,whose members were physical examinees for employment. Statistical analysis for the original data was taken by using SPSS software. RESULTS In the experimental group and in the control group respectively,the ratio of patients who had correct cognition on the biosafety of inspection report sheet was 66.90% and 78.72%,80.80% and 94.86% patients washed hands after touching inspection report sheets,71.00% and 87.00% patients suggested that biosafety label be tagged on the inspection report and hand washing facilities be supplied in the hospital. CONCLUSIONS The hospital is responsible to popularize the knowledge about hand hygiene behavior and hospital infection education,to append specific hand washing facilities,and to improve the patients' understanding of biosafety and hand washing compliance.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of butylphthalide combined with naloxone in the treatment of elderly patients with cerebral hemorrhage.Methods A total of one hundred and thirty elderly patients with cerebral hemorrhage were selected in North China University of Science and Technology Affiliated Hospital from December 2012 to December 2014,and were randomly divided into two groups,each group 65 cases.Naloxone was used in the control group,while the observation group adopted butylphthalide combined with naloxone in its treatment.The curative effects were compared between two groups.Results After treatment,homocysteine,C reactive protein,hypoxia inducible factor,neurological function defect score were all significantly decreased in two groups (P<0.05).Homocysteine,C reactive protein,hypoxia inducible factor and neurological function defect score in the observation group were much lower than those of the control group ((10.2±1.3) μmol/L vs.(14.0±1.8) μmol/L,(3.9±1.1) mg/L vs.(6.9±1.4) mg/L,(51.6±10.3) pg/ml vs.(82.5±17.6) pg/ml,(3.7±1.0) points vs.(4.4±0.9) points,t=7.134,10.692,9.078,4.892,P<0.05).The total effective rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (98.5% vs.89.2%,χ2=4.795,P<0.05).Compared the complications in two groups,the differences were not statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusion Butylphthalide combined with naloxone is effective in the treatment of elderly patients with cerebral hemorrhage,which can significantly improve their clinical signs and neurological function.

Objective To construct the recombinant plasmid carrying antisense GA cDNA, and evaluate the effect of antisense GA gene on the biological characteristics of colon cancer cells. Methods The recombinant plasmid pcDNA3.0/GA containing antisense GA gene was constructed by gene recombination technique. The recombinant plasmid was transfected into colon cancer cells by lipofectamine. The effect of antisene GA gene on the biological characteristics of colon cancer cell line DH52 was evaluated by MTT and electron microscopy. Results The recombinant plasmid pcDNA3.0/GA was successfully constructed. The growth rate of colon cancer cells decreased, and microstructure of the cells appeared typical apoptotic changes after transfection. Conclusion Antisense GA gene could inhibit the growth of colon cancer cells possibly by suppressing GA gene expression and decreasing GA activity in the colon cancer cells.

Objective To study the correlation between small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and plasma endotoxin,platelet-derived growth factor(PDGF)level,and levels of serum hyaluronic acid (HA),laminin(LN),N-terminal procollagen Ⅲ peptide(PⅢNP)and type Ⅳ collagen(Ⅳ.C). Methods Lactulose hydrogen breath test (LHBT) was performed in 64 patients with chronic liver disease. Plasma endotoxin was measured with Limulus test, plasma PDGF was tested with ABC-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,serum HA,LN,PⅢNP and Ⅳ.C were tested by radioimmunoassay(RIA) in the patients. The relationship between SIBO and plasma endotoxin, PDGF and HA,LN,PⅢNP and Ⅳ.C levels were analyzed. Results Positive LHBT suggesting the existence of SIBO were observed in 22 patients(34.4%). Plasma endotoxin[(62?19) pg/ml vs.(31?13) pg/ml] and PDGF [(211?77) pg/ml vs.(136?57) pg/ml] levels were significantly higher in patients with SIBO than those in patients without SIBO (P

Objective To explore the impacts of high temperature on health in summer in different cities of China.Methods The ettects of high temperature on health in different cities were analyzed through metereological data collecting and questionnaire survey on health of residents in Guangazhou,Nanjing and Harbin cities,300 cases respectively.Results Guangzhou,Nanjing and Harbin locat in different latitudes and have deifferent climates.Guangzhou had the high temperature all the year,with little daily temperature difference.Nanjing had cold winter and hot summer.Harbin's temperature all the year round and large daily temperature difference.In summer of 2003,the utilization rate of air-condition was 85%,75% and 12%,(respectively in Guangzhou,Nanjing and Harbin),the insomnia rate was 21.6%,38.3% and 12.9%,the occurrence rate of fatigue was 21%,25.1% and 15.2%,the occurrence rate of aggravation of existing diseases was 5.0%,7.3% and 6.1%,the incidence rate of heatstroke was 21.6%,38.3% and 12.9%,respectively.Conclusion High temperature in summer can lead to not only heat stroke,but also insomnia,fatigue,aggravation of existing diseases,et al.The residents in different cities have different tolerance to high temperature.The continual climate warming will threat human health in different latitude cities in difterent latitudes.

Objective To investigate the safety and efficacy of low-dose recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rtPA) in Chinese patients with acute ischemic stroke. Methods Consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke received rtPA intravenous thrombolysis within 4. 5 h after symptom onset were enrol ed retrospectively. According to the dosage of rtPA, they were divided into either a low-dose group (0. 5-0. 8 mg/kg, the maximum dose 50 mg) or a standard dose group (0. 9 mg/kg, the maximum dose 90 mg). The incidences of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage ( sICH) ( the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke [NINDS], and European Cooperative Acute Stroke Study Ⅱ [ECASSⅡ] , European Safe Implementation of Thrombolysis in Stroke-Monitoring Study [ SITS-MOST ] ), 90 d mortality, 90 d good outcome (the modified Rankin Scale [mRS] score 0-1), and life self-care ability (mRS score 0-2) were compared between the two groups. Results A total of 163 patients were enrol ed, including 74 patients in the low-dose group and 89 in the standard dose group. The constituent ratios of hypertension (44. 6% vs. 68. 5%; χ2 =9. 490, P=0. 002) and diabetes (5. 4% vs. 28. 1%; χ2 =14. 216, P<0. 001) in the patients of the low-dose group were significantly lower than those of the standard group, while the constituent ratios of smoking (56. 8% vs. 38. 2%; χ2 =5. 590, P=0. 018 ) and smal artery occlusive stroke (21. 6% vs. 10. 1%; χ2 =4. 122, P=0. 042 ) in patients of the low-dose group were significantly higher than those of the standard group. Conclusions The program of intravenous thrombolysis for the treatment of Chinese patients with acute ischemic stroke with low-dose rtPA is safe and effective.

Objective To investigate the effect of peer-education model on clinical practice of undergraduate interns.Methods Thirty-six undergraduate interns were arranged into control and experimental group.Twelve postgraduates were selected as peer-educators.Medical ethics and style,attitude,clinical thoughts,operations and satisfactory of patients were used to judge their work.They had to take exams at the end of the clinical practice.Results Undergraduate interns in experi-mental group got higher scores than control group.Conclusion Peer-education model has a posi-tive effect on clinical practice of undergraduate interns.
