Chinese Journal of General Practitioners 2014;13(1):60-62
To explore the relativity between alexithymia and cognitive function in somatoform disorder patients.A total of 40 patients aged 18-65 years fulfilling the criteria of ICD-10 for somatoform disorders were recruited as research group. And 40 normal healthy subjects were selected as control group.Toronto alexithymia scale-20 (TAS-20) was employed to examine the alexithymia. And cognitive abilities screening instrument (CASI) was used to measure their cognitive ability. The 9-factor scores and total score of CASI test in patients with somatoforill disorder were significantly lower than those in the normal controls (P < 0.05 or < 0.01).The 3-factor scores and total score of TAS-20 test in patients withsomatoforill disorder were significantly higher than those in the normal controls (P < 0.05 or < 0.01).In research group,CASI scores were negatively correlated with the TAS-20 scores (P <0.05 or 0.01).

Objective To explore the effect of theta burst stimulation (TBS) paradigm of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rT-MS) on executive function in patients with chronic schizophrenia. Methods 60 patients meeting DSM-IV for chronic schizophrenia disor-ders criteria were enrolled. They were randomly divided into TBS group (n=30) and sham intervention group (n=30). They were assessed with digit span performance, space span performance and Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) before and 4 weeks after intervention. Re-sults After intervention, the forward score of digit span performance, the total score and forward score of space span performance increased (P<0.05), the error selection percentage, the error selection number and the percentage of error number of WCST decreased, the percentage of conceptual level of WCST increased (P<0.05) in the TBS group. However, there was no significant difference in the digit span perfor-mance, space span performance and WSCT in the sham intervention group (P>0.05). There was significant difference in all the items be-tween 2 groups after intervention (P<0.05). Conclusion TBS paradigm of rTMS could improve the executive function in schizophrenic pa-tients.

Objective To evaluate the effect of theta burst stimulation( TBS) paradigm of repetitive tran?scranial magnetic stimulation ( rTMS ) on the treatment of schizophrenia through assessing executive function. Methods 60 patients met with DSM?4 and ICD?10 for schizophrenia disorders criteria were enrolled in this study. The group was divided into theta burst stimulation group(research group, n=30) and sham intervention group ( control group, n=30) . The research group and control group were assessed with the Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST) and the go/no?go task by event?related potential(ERPs) before and after 4 weeks treatment. Each test results of all groups before and after treatment were compared with each other respectively. Results Regarding the WCST test, compared with the baseline, the post?rTMS state of the TBS group showed a decrease in the error selec?tion percentage((59.8±14.7)%),the preservative error number(55.3±18.0) and the preservative error percentage (71.3±12.6)%,but the percentage of conceptual level(71.3±12.6)% increased in the TBS group(P<0.05). Re?garding the go/no?go task by ERPs,compared with the baseline, the post?rTMS statet of the TBS group showed an increase in the no?go P3 amplitude(P<0.05 or 0.01) . After intervention, the score of WCST test and the no?go P3 amplitude were significant differences in TBS group compared with same rTMS group(P>0.05).Conclusions The?ta burst stimulation paradigm of rTMS can improve the executive function in schizophrenic patients.

Isolated alkaloids from Coptis chinensis Franch. The compounds were identified as berberine, columbamine, groenlandicine, jatrorrhizine, magnoflorine, corydaldine and ferulic acid methylester. Then measured their bitter degree based on the electronic tongue and evaluated the antibacterial. The results based on the Electronic Tongue showed that berberine, columbamine, groenlandicine and jatrorrhizine have higher bitter degree than magnoflorine and corydaldine. And they also appeared better antibacterial activity on E. coli and S. aureus. The correlation coefficients between bitter degree and the two bacteria antibacterial activity were 0.983 and 0.911. So there was close relationship between the bitter degree and antibacterial activity of bitter components. Thus, it is confirmed further that bitter components are the material foundation of medicinal effectiveness of bitter herbs.

Plants in Ainsliaea genus, belongs to Compositae family, are traditional Chinese medicine and widely used in folk. These plants contain various types of chemical components, and main components are sesquiterpene lactone and its glycosides. In addition, there are triterpenoids, flavonoids, steroids, phenolic acid, long chain fatty acid and volatile oils. Recently, much attention has been payed to varlous research of A. fragrans. This paper reviewed and summarized the chemical components to provide the theoretical basis for the use of Ainsliaea.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2005;25(1):13-6
To establish a method of directional differentiation and efficient production of neurons from embryonic stem cells (ES cells) in vitro, based on the 4-/4+ protocol described by Bain, a new method was established to induce ES cells differentiating into neurons by means of three-step differentiation using all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) combined with astrocyte-conditioned medium (ACM) in Vitro. The totipotency of ES cells was identified by observation of cells' morphology and formations of teratoma in immunocompromised mice. The cells' differentiation was evaluated continuously by the detection of the specific cellular markers of neural stem cells, neurons and astrocytes, including nestin, NSE and GFAP using immunohistochemistry assay. The NSE positive cells' ratio of the differentiated cells was determined by flow cytometry. It was found that the transparent circular clusters surrounding embryoid bodies induced with combining induction protocol formed just after 24 h and gradually enlarged later. This phenomenon could not be observed in EBs induced only by ATRA. The NSE positive cells' ratio in the cells induced with ATRA and ACM was higher than that of the cells induced by ATRA at different time points of differentiation, and finally reached up to 73.5% among the total differentiated population. It was concluded that ES cells could be induced into neurons with high purity and yield by means of inducing method combining with ATRA and ACM.

Chinese Journal of Medical Ultrasound (Electronic Edition) 2012;09(6):525-528
Objective To summarize the features of esophageal hiatus hernia (EHH) on contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and investigate the diagnostic value of CEUS in EHH.Methods A retrospective analysis of 88 EHH patients and 50 healthy controls was conducted with focus on their findings on CEUS.Results The structures of the cardiac and abdominal esophagus were clear in 50 healthy controls, and the esophageal hiatus diameters were (1.96±0.39) cm.In contrast, the cardiac and abdominal esophagus in EHH patients were unable to be identified in subdiaphragm region. The esophageal hiatus was wider with a diameter of (3.24±0.76) cm.The difference was statistically significant(t=2.36,P<0.05).The hernia sacs were found in 78 EHH patients at rest. And the hernia sacs were present on the diaphragm in 10 EHH patients after pressure. The maximum diameter of hernia sac was 7.6 cm.The size of hernia sac may change with abdominal pressure. In sliding EHH patients, the sac wall was found to slide up and down the diaphragm.A mass was found on the wall in 2 patients. The B ring was present in 76 patients. For healthy controls in supine position,contrast-enhanced ultrasound showed that the gastric bottom and diaphragm were at dependent or horizontal position. The gastric bottom and diaphragm was upward in 73 patients. Conclusions The EHH has characteristic appearance on CEUS.It is easy to detect and diagnose EHH with CEUS,which has a diagnostic value in detection of space-occupying lesions in hernia sac.CEUS can be used for EHH screening.
