39℃)developed at the progressive stage of this disease.Physical examination showed variously sized, round or oval, atrophic and variola-like scars along with scattered erythematous patches, papules, necrosis and crusts on the face and extremities. The face was edematous, and there were some edematous and erythematous plaques with a necrotic center on the legs and arms.Histological examination revealed a massive infiltration with atypical CD8~+lymphocytes around the vessels and appendages in dermis.A diagnosis of CD8~+cutaneous T-cell lymphoma(CTCL)was made.Glucocorticoid and immunosuppressants were effective in controlling the condition.Up to the time of the writing, there has not been any definite evidence of systemic involvement.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression of the Pim-1 gene in the LNCaP cells of the animal model of orthotopically implanted prostate cancer by surgical castration simulating androgen-deprivation therapy.
METHODSWe equally allocated 32 male BALBc-nu mice into 4 groups, androgen-dependent prostate cancer (ADPC), androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) , castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) and blank control, and established the models of orthotopically implanted tumor using human prostate cancer LNCaP cells. We detected and ,compared the expressions of Pim-1, PSA, and androgen receptor (AR) in the tumor tissues of different groups by RT-PCR. qRT-PCR, ELSIA and immunohistochemistry.
RESULTSThe relative gray scales in the ADPC and CRPC groups were 0.59 ± 0.01 and 1.14 ± 0.02, with statistically significant differences from 0.62 ± 0.03 in the ADT group (P < 0.05), and the Δ Ct values of Pim-1 were 6.15 ± 0.34 and 4.56 ± 0.23 in the former two groups, also with significant differences from 5.11 ± 0.21 in the latter (P < 0.05). The results of 2-ΔΔ Ct relative quantification analysis showed that the amplification products of Pim-1 in the ADT and CRPC groups increased 2.05 and 3.01 times respectively that of the ADPC group. The concentration of PSA was significantly higher in the ADPC ([480 ± 25] pg/ml) and CRPC ([870 ± 23] pg/ml) than in the ADT ([170 ± 32] pg/ml) and blank control groups (0 µg/L) (P < 0.01). The mean optical densities of Pim-1 and AR proteins were 0.017 ± 0.002 and 0.032 ± 0.009 in the ADPC group and 0.024 ± 0.002 and 0.040 ± 0.011 in the CRPC group, both with significant differences from those in the ADT group (0.018 ± 0.001 and 0.019 ± 0.006) (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONPim-1 is highly expressed in nude mice with prostate cancer receiving androgen-deprivation therapy and plays an important role in the progression and metastasis of prostate cancer.

Objective To investigate insulin resistance and the effect of physical training on it in the pa- tients with chronic heart failure (CHF). Methods One hundred and twenty NYHAⅡ-ⅢCHF patients were ran- domly divided into a training group( n = 65 ) and a routine therapy group (n = 55 ). Another 35 healthy subjects were recruited as control group. All the patients were treated with routine anti-CHF drugs, and the training group patients had received physical training twice a day in addition. The HOMA-IR, insulin sensitivity index (ISI) , left ventricu- lar ejection fraction (LEVF), left ventricular fractional shortening( LVFS), 6-minute walking distance, heart rate and mean blood pressure were compared between the training and routine therapy groups before and after physical ex- ercise in both groups, and a comparison was made between the patients and the controls before the intervention with regard to HOMA-IR and ISI. Results Comparing with control group, ISI was reduced while the HOMA-IR in- creased (P

Objective To construct and implement the training model of eight-year medical education with characteristics of Shanghai Jiaotong University. Methods Based on survey, discussion and consultation, the experiences of long schooling medical education in Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine were summarized.Training plan and education reform scheme were established. Results Training objective, guideline and major reform measures had been clarified. The training plan and reform scheme were under process of implementation. Conclusion The training objective of eight-year medical education should be further confirmed. The curriculum should be in accordance with the training objective, and education reform is important and necessary for the eight-year medical education.

OBJECTIVELong time exhaled oxygen will induced oxygen toxicity. Some studies had found that different pathology may exised in normobaric and hyperbaric pulmonary oxygen toxicity, and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) may play a role. In this study, we discussed the change of NOS in normobaric and hyperbaric pulmonary oxygen toxicity.
METHODSSixty male SD rats were randomly divided into 6 groups (n = 10), exposed to 1 ATA (atmosphere absolute), 1.5 ATA, 2 ATA, 2.5 ATA and 3 ATA, 100% oxygen for 56, 20, 10, 8, 6 hours respectively. Rats were exposed to air as control. After exposure, the protein in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), the wet/dry weight of lung and the expression of eNOS, nNOS in lung were defined.
RESULTSAs compared to air group, the protein in BALF, the wet/dry of lung were significantly elevated in 1.0 ATA group, while these changes were not so obviously in the other groups, and these changes in hyperbaric oxygen group (approximately 1.0 ATA) were significantly decreased as compared with nonnrmobaric oxygen group (1.0 ATA). The expression of nNOS were not changed in normobaric and hyperbaric pulmonary oxygen toxicity, while the expression of eNOS was significantly decreased in 2 ATA group, and significantly elevated in 2.5 ATA and 3 ATA group.
CONCLUSIONThe expression of eNOS can change when exposed to different pressures of oxygen.

10.Experimental study on guiding bone regeneration with bovine pericardium membrane.
West China Journal of Stomatology 2004;22(5):429-431
OBJECTIVETo explore the feasibility of bovine pericardium used as a material for guiding bone regeneration.
METHODS1 cm x 1 cm x 0.5 cm defects were created on both buccal sides of the mandibles of 11 dogs. One side was covered with Glutaraldehyde (GA) cross-linking bovine pericardium; no membrane covered side was used as control. The animals were sacrificed in 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 16 weeks after operation to observe the repair of the bone defects.
RESULTS(1) Wounds healed well in 10 dogs. Meanwhile, wounds in dogs of 16 weeks group healed badly and severe inflammatory response was found in bovine pericardium treated area. (2) The pericardium can be maintained in vivo for 16 weeks without absorption, there were only mild inflammatory cells invading. (3) The bone defects covered with bovine pericardium repaired better than control groups significantly.
CONCLUSION(1) GA bovine pericardium have the effect on guiding bone regeneration in the repair of dog experimental bone defects and it is possible that the bovine pericardium will be used as a new kind of GBR material; (2) GA bovine pericardium has good biocompatibility.
