3.Cellular Responses to DNA Double Strand Breaks and Its Medical Significance
Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(09):-
The DNA damage response is a cornerstone of genomic stability. The cell utilizes mutiple mechanisms including damage detection, cell cycle regulation, damage repair and apoptosis to keep cell homeostasis. The DNA damage response include several biochemical pathways:first, the recognition and repair of damaged DNA;second, the activation of DNA damage checkpoint, which arrests cell cycle progression so as to provides time for DNA repair and prevention of the transmission of genomic abnormalities to the daughter cells;third, apoptosis, which eliminates serious damaged cells. The double strand break(DSB) is believed to be one of the most severe types of DNA damage, and errors in DSB repair could result in genomic instability that might lead to malignancy. It has been reported recently that constitutive activation of the ATM-Chk2-p53 pathway and phosphorylation of histone H2AX acts as an inducible anti-cancer barrier in the early stages of human tumorigenesis. This ATM-regulated DNA damage response network maintains genomic integrity and delays or prevents cancer by eliciting growth arrest or cell death. In context with a recent report, the ATM-dependent DNA-damage cellular signaling has also been shown to be involved in the integration of human immunodeficiency virus type-1(HIV-1) into host genomes, and KU55933,a specific ATM inhibitor, attenuated the infection of HIV-1 into host cells. The regulation and mechanisms of the signaling pathways of DSB response, and its role in HIV-1 infection and malignancy genesis were reviewed.

Chlamydia pneumoniae is one of the most common pathogens causing community acquired pneumonia. It may activate immune cells, release mediators of inflammation and cytokine and cause immune response.Researches on its signal transduction after infection through Toll-like receptors may help prevent and cure chlamydia penumoniae infection disease.
5.The malignant tumor of appendix
Chinese Journal of General Surgery 1994;0(05):-
From 1952 to 1990, 21 cases of malignant tumor of the appendix, including 14 cases of carcinoid tumor of appendix, 4 cases of appendix adenocarcinoma, 2 cases of appendix lymposarcoma and 1 case of appendix cystocarcinoma, were treated in the Affiliated Hospital of Wannan Medical College Among these 21 patients, 16 underwent appendectomy alone, 5 underwent appendectomy first and a right hemicolectomy was performed on later All of the 21 patients were followed up for 5~10 years, the survival rate was 90 5% and 90 5% respectively So if a malignant tumor of the appendix was suspected, a biopsy during operation should be done to determine the pathological type If the diagnosis was clear, the choice of operation mode must be made according to the size and the pathological type of the tumor In selective patient, a right hemicolectomy must be performed on
6.Assessments of Physical Function and Related Factors among Community-dwelling Aged People
Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2017;23(8):980-983
Objective To evaluate the physical functions of community-dwelling older adults, and analyze the related factors. Methods From September to October, 2016, 80 adults over 55-year-old in one community in Wuhan, Hubei, China were selected with convenience sampling. General situation was collected through questionnaires. Physical functions were measured by tests of grip strength, Five-Times-Sit-to-Stand Test (FTSST), modified Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction and Balance (mCTSIB) and TimedUp and GoTest (TUGT). Their correlation was analyzed. Results The average grip strength of the participants was (27.46 ± 9.66) kg; the average time of FTSST was (11.58 ± 4.03) s;there was only one (1.25%) participant observed with an impairment in mCTSIB;the average time of TUGT was (9.05±3.47) s. Grip strength was correlated with gender (r=-0.669), education level (r=0.238), the score of Mini-Mental State Examina-tion (MMSE) (r=-0.302) and activities of daily living (ADL) (r=-0.344) (P<0.05). The time of FTSST was correlated to gender (r=0.274), the score of MMSE (r=0.243) and ADL (r=0.321) (P<0.05). The time of TUGT was correlated to gender (r=0.255), education level (r=-0.362), income level (r=-0.245), the score of Self-rating Depression Scale (r=0.223), the score of MMSE (r=0.328) and ADL (r=0.354) (P<0.05). Conclusion The levels of grip strength, FTSST and TUGT are related to the demographic characters in community-dwell-ing older adults. Little abnormity has been found in mCTSIB.

9. Comparison of pharmacokinetic behavior of glycyrrhizic acid and Bu-Zhong-Yi-Qi-Wan in rats
Journal of International Pharmaceutical Research 2016;43(3):533-538
Objective To establish a sensitive, simple and accurate HPLC-MS/MS method to quantify glycyrrhetic acid(glycyrrhetinic acid)in mice blood, and to further study pharmacokinetic profiles of glycyrrhetic acid after oral administration of glycyrrhizin and Bu- Zhong- Yi- Qi- Wan (BY). Methods Rats were intragastric administered of glycyrrhizin(glycyrrhizic acid, 61.5 mg/kg) and BY extract(3 g/kg, with the same mole of glycyrrhizin moiety), respectively. Plasma samples were collected after administration and extracted with liquid-liquid extraction, then by separated by liquid chromatography on a C8 reversion phase chromatographic column with gradient elution. Concentration of glycyrrhetic acid was detected by the validated HPLC-MS/MS. Non-compartmental pharmacokinetic profiles were constructed using the software of Das 2.0 software(Shanghai, China), and the pharmacokinetic parameters were compared using unpaired Student’s t-test. Results This bioanalytical method was fully validated and showed good linearity(r> 0.99), wide dynamic range(5-1000 ng/ml), and favorable accuracy and precision. Compared with the glycyrrhizin pure form group, BY significantly reduced the Cmax and AUC0-t of glycyrrhetic acid by 56% and 76%, respectively. Whereas no significant differences in Tmax, T1/2 and MRT were observed between the two groups. Conclusion The constituents in the BY prescription have significantly reduced the oral bioavailability of glycyrrhetic acid in rats than those in the glycyrrhizin pure form and the results indicate that some components in the BY have an inhibition effect on the absorption process of glycyrrhizin in the gut.
