1.Micro-osmosis of mineral trioxide aggregate as a cement for casting dowel pins

BACKGROUND: Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is a new inorganic trioxide polymer. Previous studies indicated that MTA as a root tip material had good edge closeness as compared to silver amalgam and vitreous enamel-cementum.OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of anti-micro-osmosis of metal dowel pins cemented by MTA.DESIGN: Comparative observational study.SETTING: Jingzhou Central Hospital of Hubei Province.MATERIALS: Thirty-two submaxilla first premolars which were pulled out by the orthodontic treatment in 2004 of the hospital were selected, of which teeth were intact, dental roots were stout, straight and unbroken. MTA was provided by Dentsply Co., USA; zinc phosphate cement by Shanghai Dentistry Material Station; glass ionomer cement by Shanghai Qingpu Dentistry Material Station; EB composite resin by the Fourth Military Medical University Oral Medical Hospital.METHODS: Having been filled by traditional technique, 32 fresh single-rooted permanent teeth were randomly divided into 4 groups and cemented in casting dowel pins separately with four cements-zinc phosphate cement, glass ionomer cement, EB composite resin and MTA groups with 8 in each group. And then the dye penetration method was used to test the micro-osmosis of these cements.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Micro-osmosis of the four cements.RESULTS: MAT as a cement had the minimum micro-osmosis while zinc phosphate cement had the maximum osmosis. Object A method was developed for the determination of fatty acid in Fructus Bruceae oil by precolumn derivation HPLC Methods Fatty acids were derivatized with p bromophenacylbromide as derivative and 18 crown 6 as catalyst The method used C 8 Kromasil C 8 (250 mm?4 mm, 5 ?m) column and isocratic acetonitrile water eluent and the internal standard was heptadecanoic acid The detection wavelenghth was 254 nm Column temperature was fixed at room temperature, and the flow rate was 1 3 mL/min Results The standard curves of linoleic, palmitic, oleic, and steraric acid are linear within the range of 0 022—0 330, 0 014—0 213, 0 028—0 416, and 0 012—0 177 ?g, respectively The four fatty acid recoveries are 99 2%, 97 2%, 101 8%, 97 8%, and the RSD are 1 2%, 1 5%, 0 4%, 2 3%, individuslly Conclusion Five fatty acids are separated within 30 minutes during a single run The present method is reliable and relatively simple for the determination of fatty acid in Fruetus Bruceae oil
8.Pharmacodynamic of Guanhuang Ganmao Capsule

AIM: To study the pharmacodynamics of Guanhuang Ganmao Capsule. METHODS: Antiviral effect of Guanhuang Ganmao Capsule was investigated by infecting chicken embryo with N_1H_1; its antipyretic action was evaluated with rabbit pyrogentic test induced by bacterial endotoxin; anti-inflammation by rats swelling test with injection of 1% agar and mice abdominal capillary permeability test with dimethylbanzene; the antitussive activities were investigated through testing cough times induced by ammonium hydroxide and sulfur dioxide in mice; the expectorant activities of it were studied by testing the amount of phlegm secreted in mice; The antibacterial effects in vivo were evaluated in mice with induced systematic infection. RESULTS: Guanhuang Ganmao Capsules had obvious antiviral action, antipyretic action, anti-inflammation and antitussive action. It took expectorant effect. The capsules markedly reduced death rate of staphylococcus aureus infection in mice. CONCLUSION: Guanhuang Ganmao Capsules possess antiviral; antipyretic; antitussive and expectorant effects as well as anti-inflammation
9.Can exosomal micro-RNAs be as biomarkers of diseases?

BACKGROUND:Exosome, a kind of cystic vesicle with bilayer structure, is widely distributed in the body fluids. Exosomes are involved in various cel ular communications, and its contents including proteins, short chain peptides, DNA, RNA, phospholipids, and miRNA are resistant to degradation.
OBJECTIVE:To clarify the characters of exosomes, and to investigate the possibility of exosomal miRNAs as biomarkers for different diseases to provide a new strategy for clinical diagnosis.
METHODS:A computer-based search of CNKI and PubMed databases was performed by the first author for articles related to exosomal miRNAs. The keywords were“exosome, microvesicles, extracel ular vesicles, miRNA, biomarker, early diagnosis, progrosis”in Chinese and English, respectively. Total y 50 eligible articles were included in result analysis.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:After reviewing researches of exosomes in different diseases, we can confirm that exosomes broadly participant in physiological and pathological process of various system diseases. The abnormal expression of exosomal micro-RNAs has been identified in many studies, indicating the exosomal micro-RNAs have a great potential to be biomarkers for disease diagnosis. Further studies should focus on extracting the contents of exosomes, the pathogenesis of exosomes is involved in and screening the appropriate exosomal miRNAs for early diagnosis.
10.STUDIES ON THE EFFECT OF CADMIUM ON ULTRASTRUCTURAL MORPHOMETRY OF GONADOTROPHS AND PLASMA CONCENTRATION OF FSH IN MALE RATS

This paper presents the ultrastructrual changes of male rats gonadotrophs at 7, 15, 30, 50 days after cadmium chloride (Cd) injection (2mg/kg). The differences of morphometric parameters of gonadotrophs and plasma value of FSH were revealed by statistics.The results showed that no injured alterations were found in gonadotrophs but appeared castration like features. These changes feature were most prominent after 15 days and then recovered to normal gradually. The main alterations of gonadotrophs were dilatation, and proliferation and decrease in the specific surface of RER as well as there were low density materials in the dilated cisterna. The numerical and volume density of large and small secretion granules were decreased greatly in all of the treatment groups. The variance of diameter of the large and small secretion granules were not conspicuous and the differences of volume and numerical density of the mitochondria among the control and treatment groups were also no significance. The hypertrophy of Golgi complex of the gonadotrophs were very obvious and the number of the gonadotrophs were increased in the Cd treated rats. The plasma value of FSH measurement indicated that the FSH level increased after 7days and the highest value appeared after 15 days. However, it did not return to normal after 50 days. These results suggested that gonadotrophs were not susceptible to Cd. The hypertraphy, hyperplasia and increase in synthesis and secretion of the gonadotrophs resulted from feedback by the effect of Cd induced injury on testes.
