1.The development about activation of protein kinase C and diabetic vascular complications
Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(09):-
Protein kinase C(PKC) is a serine/threonine kinase groups including a series of isoenzyme.Hyperglycemia and elevated free fatty acid can affect signal transduction pathway function,in particular activation of diacylglycerol (DG) and PKC,which occurs in the diabetic state. Activation of PKC lead to insulin resistance and diabetic vascular complications. PKC ? isoform selective inhibitor(LY 333531) and vitamin E have shown potential effect as therapies for diabetic vascular complication.

In this study we performed Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI), two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D- STI) and three-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (3D-STI) on enrolled healthy, overweight and obese groups (34 subjects in each group), respectively, to analyze cardiac structure and its function. Compared with healthy group, global longitudinal strain (GLS), global circumferential strain (GCS), global area strain(GAS) and global radial strain (GRS) decreased progressively (P < 0.05). The ratio of early diastolic mitral inflow velocity to global early diastolic strain rate of left ventricle (E/e'sr) (r = 0.466, P < 0.001), GLS (r = 0.502, P < 0. 001), GCS (r = 0.426, P < 0.001), GAS (r = 0.535, P < 0.001) and GRS (r = -0.554, P < 0.001) were correlated with body mass index (BMI). E/e'sr (r = 0.37, P = 0.003), GLS (r = 0.455, P < 0.001), GCS (r = 0.282, P = 0.02), GAS (r = 0.412, P < 0.001) and GRS (r = -0.471, P < 0.001) were correlated with free fatty acid (FFA). Stepwise multiple linear regression revealed that BMI was independently correlated with E/e'sr, GLS, GCS, GAS and GRS. Waist to hip ratio (WHR) was independently correlated with GLS, GCS, GAS and GRS. FFA was independently correlated with E/e'sr (P < 0.05). The study showed that cardiac structure changed and impaired left ventricular global systolic and diastolic function in overweight and obes population. Moreover, BMI, WHR and FFA may be independent influence factors of cardiac function in overweight and obese population.

Objective To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of domestic orlistat and imported orlistat in Chinese overweight and obese patients. Methods In a randomized, double-blinded and positive-controlled study, 228 adults (BMI 24-< 40 kg/m~2) evaluated at seven research centers were randomized to receive domestic orlistat or imported orlistat 120 mg 3 times a day with an energy-controlled diet for 24 weeks. Results After 24 weeks, domestic orlistat treated patients got significant weight-loss (5.0±3.7) kg, which was comparable with that of imported orlistat treated patients (4.5±3.5) kg (P=0.3922).Compared with the findings before treatment, there was significant decrease of systolic blood pressure (4.4±11.5)mm Hg (1 mm Hg=0.133 kPa) and serum levels of TC (0.54±0.79) mmol/L and LDL-C (0.32±0.64) mmol/L in the domestic orlistat treated group(compared with levels of baseline, P< 0. 0001). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the changes of blood pressure and lipid levels. Both groups had similar adverse event profiles, most of which were mild and transient gastrointestinal events. There were no serious adverse events in beth groups. Conclusions Domestic orlistat combined with a light low-energy diet promoted significant weight loss, which was comparable with that of imported orlistat after 24 weeks of treatment. There was also improvement in blood pressure and serum levels of TC and LDL-C. Domestic orlistat was as effective and safe as imported orlistat in the treatment of obesity.

Journal of Prevention and Treatment for Stomatological Diseases 2019;27(8):531-534
Objective:
To explore the influence of the SmartClip self-ligating bracket and traditional metal bi-wing brackets on plaque control and to provide a reference for the oral healthcare of orthodontic patients.
Methods:
The patients were divided into the SmartClip self-ligating bracket group, the metal bi-wing bracket group, and the control group, consisting of untreated volunteers, and the patients were examined before treatment, 1 month after the treatment started, 3 months after the treatment started, and when the treatment ended. The oral hygiene status was recorded at four time points, and the plaque index of the following six teeth was compared among the time points: the upper-right central incisor (UR1), the lower-left central incisor (LL1), the upper-right first molar (UR6), the lower-left first molar (LL6), and the upper left canine (UL3) and the lower-right canine (LR3).
Results:
Compared with before treatment, after first month, third month and end of treatment the plaque index of LL1, LR3, LL6 and UR6 in both the SmartClip self-ligating bracket group and the traditional metal bi-wing bracket group was increased, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in PLI index between the end of treatment and 3 months after orthodontic treatment (P > 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in PLI index in the control group at each time period (P > 0.05). After three months of orthodontic treatment, the plaque index of LL1 and LR3 in the SmartClip self-ligating bracket group was higher than that in the traditional metal bi-wing bracket group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05).
Conclusion
Lower anterior and posterior areas are susceptible to plaque accumulation in treatment with fixed orthodontic appliances. The SmartClip self-ligating bracket system has no advantage over the traditional metal bi-wing bracket in terms of oral hygiene.

Journal of Prevention and Treatment for Stomatological Diseases 2018;26(10):644-648
Objective:
To study the relation between the upper first molar root tips and the maxillary sinus floor in patients with different vertical facial patterns using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to explore the reference data for safe clinical orthodontic treatments.
Methods:
Three-dimensional images were reconstructed from CBCT data. The CBCT data from 120 adolescents and adults were divided into three groups (low-angle group, average-angle group, high-angle group) based on vertical facial type. For each subject, the distance from the maxillary sinus floor to the upper first molar root tips was measured, and the types of contacts were classified. ANOVA and LSD t tests were used for statistical comparisons and performed using SPSS 19.0.
Results:
Of the 120 samples, only 27% of the upper first molar root tips lost their contacts with the maxillary sinus floor, and the other 73% of the root tips contacted the sinus to different extents. Significant differences in the distances from the maxillary sinus floor to the upper first molar root tips were found for different vertical facial types (P < 0.05). The high-angle group had the lowest sinus floor, relative to the root tips, of the three adult groups (P < 0.05). In the adult group with a low angle, the measured value for the palatal root tips was the lowest and was significantly different from those in the other groups (P < 0.05).
Conclusion
Seventy-three percent of the upper first molar root tips contacted the maxillary sinus floor. The maxillary sinus floor tended to be lower relative to the first molar root tips in patients with a high-angle facial pattern than in others. The roots protruded into the sinus to a greater extent.

Objective:To analyze the differences in gut microbiota between patients with hyperuricemia (HUA) and healthy population for better understanding the correlation between gut microflora and high uric acid. Methods:This study recruited 63 adult volunteers, including 25 HUA patients (HUA group) and 38 healthy people (control group), who underwent physical examination in the PLA Strategic Support Force Characteristic Medical Center in 2021. Their fecal samples were collected and analyzed by 16S rRNA high-throughput full-length gene sequencing to analyze the composition of gut microbiota. Results:The overall composition of gut microbiota was different between HUA group and control group. The α diversity index decreased significantly in HUA group and β diversity analysis showed that there were significant differences between the two groups. HUA group showed increased Bacteroidetes and decreased Firmicutes. LEfSe analysis indicated a unique microbiota structure in HUA group, characterized by significantly decreased short-chain fatty acid (SCFA)-producing bacteria represented by Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and significantly increased Streptococcus salivarius, Bacteroides fragilis, Fusobacterium hwasookii, Flavonifractor plautii, Mycobacterium mucogenicum B and Blautia sp003287895. In addition, functional prediction through PICRUSt2 showed that the metabolism related to gut microbiota SCFA pathway in HUA group was decreased, which was consistent to the unique microbiota structure. Conclusions:Compared with healthy population, patients with hyperuricemia had different composition of gut microbiota and metabolic feature.

Chinese Journal of Microbiology and Immunology 2022;42(5):383-389
Objective:To investigate the correlation between gut microbiota and serum diamine oxidase (DAO) level and to analyze the differences in gut microbiota between high DAO (DAO-H) and normal DAO populations. Methods:This study recruited 62 adult volunteers (31 in DAO-H group and 31 in normal control group) taking health examination in the Strategic Support Forces Special Medical Center in 2021. Their stool samples were collected to analyze the composition of gut microbiota in the two populations by full-length 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Results:No significant difference in the alpha diversity of gut microbiota was found between the DAO-H group and the normal control group, but the structure and function of gut microbiota varied. In the DAO-H group, commensal bacteria decreased, such as Phocaeicola and Bacteroidetes, while potential pathogenic bacteria increased, such as Klebsiella pneumoniae. There were changes in the metabolism of gut microbiota in the DAO-H group, including inhibited sphingolipid metabolism and enhanced biosynthesis of vancomycin group antibiotics, one carbon pool by folate pathway, terpenoid backbone biosynthesis, cell cycle-Caulobacter, protein export, base excision repair and nitrogen metabolism. Conclusions:Compared with the people with normal DAO, the population with high DAO had unique characteristics in gut microbiota composition and metabolism.

JOURNAL OF RARE DISEASES 2024;3(2):237-240
Marfan syndrome (MFS) is an autosomal dominant disorder that is prone to fibrodysplasia, lens dislocation and rapid height growth, which needs to be distinguished from gigantism. This article reports a 14-year-old patient with MFS who had a typical binocular lens subluxation in both eyes, with visual impairment and rapid height growth. MRI with contrast to the pituitary suggested a pituitary microadenoma, but growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor 1 were in the normal range, thus excluding gigantism or acromegaly. Non-functional pituitary adenoma was considered. MFS patients need long-term follow-up and multidisciplinary collaboration, and attention should be paid to cardiovascular system monitoring and genetic testing, which can be helpful for the diagnosis and treatment of patients and risk prevention and control.
