1.miRNA-30a expression in renal cell carcinoma and its effect on renal cancer cells
Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2015;(13):663-667
Objective:To investigate the expression and clinical significance of microRNA-30a in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Methods:The miRNA-30a expression in renal tissues and cell lines was detected using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reac-tion (qRT-PCR), and the relationship between miRNA-30a expression and the clinicopathological features of RCC was analyzed. The effect of miRNA-30a on cancer cells was evaluated using methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay. In addition, a bioinformatics algo-rithm was adopted to predict the potential targets of miRNA-30a. Results:miRNA-30a was downregulated both in RCC tissues and cell lines. Patients with higher miRNA-30a expression exhibited better prognosis than those with lower miRNA-30a expression. Bioin-formatics algorithm and qRT-PCR both indicated that metadherin (MTDH) was a target of miRNA-30a. Moreover, MTT results showed that miRNA-30a could inhibit cell proliferation. Conclusion:miRNA-30a was inhibited in renal cancer, and low miRNA-30a expres-sion was associated with poor prognosis. In addition, miRNA-30a could inhibit the growth of cells through MTDH.

ObjectiveTo explore the influence of peritoneal transport characteristics on the nutritional status of patients with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis(CAPD).MethodsSeventy-three CAPD patients were involved in this cross-sectional study.According to the results of peritoneal equilibration test(PET),the patients were divided into high transport group with 43 cases and low transport group with 30 cases.Nutritional status was evaluated with the subjective global assessment (SGA) score and the differences were analyzed between two groups in the albumin (ALB),total protein (TP),hemoglobin (Hb),primary disease, age, weight, dialysis time, ultrafiltration, blood urea nitrogen ( BUN ),serum creatinine (SCr) and so on.Results There was no difference between two groups in age, weight, ultrafiltration, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure,Hb,SGA score,BUN and SCr (P>0.05).However,the dialysis time, the case number of diabetic nephropathy (DN) as original disease, the case number of non DN as original disease,TP and ALB between high transport group and low transport group had significant differences [(14.35±13.88) months vs.(24.20 ±19.62) months,16 cases vs.12 cases,27 cases vs.18 cases,( 64.98±7.59 ) g/L vs.( 68.73 ± 6.96 ) g/L,( 34.61 ± 5.43) g/L vs.( 38.71±3.82 ) g/L,P < 0.05 ].Conclusions The nutritional status of CAPD patients with different transport characteristics have significant differences.CAPD patients with high transport characteristics are complicated with worse nutritional status, compared with those patients with low transport characteristics.

Objective To evaluate the influence of peritoneal transport characteristics on nutritional status of peritoneal dialysis patients and estimate the role of peritoneal transport characteristics and nutritional status in evaluation of peritoneal dialysis adequacy. Methods Peritoneal transport properties (D/Pcr) were evaluated by Short Peritoneal Equilibration Test and then 53 cases were divided into high transport group (D/Pcr ≥0. 65) and low transport group (D/Pcr < 0. 65). Urea kinetics (Kt/v) and total clearance of creatinine (TCcr) were calcu- lated. Serum albumin (ALB), prealbumin, transferring (TF), hemoglobin (Hb), lean body mass (LBM) and LBM% were examined or calculated. Subjective global assessment (SGA) was used to evaluate the nutritional sta- tus of patients. Results There were 30 cases in high transport group and 23 cases in low transport group. D/Pcr (0. 82±0.15 vs. 0. 55±0. 08, P < 0. 01), TCcr (62. 93%±25. 98% vs. 49. 69%±16. 92% , P < 0. 05) and age were significantly higher in high transport group than those in low transport group, while ALB, TF, Hb, LBM% , and SGA were significantly lower than those in low transport group (P < 0.05). ALB was negatively cor-related with Kt/v (r= -0.2708, P<0. 05). Conclusions High peritoneal transport patients have better solute clearance but worse nourishment status compared with low transport ones. Nutritional status is one of the factors to evaluate dialysis adequacy. Nutrition management and guidance should be strengthened for the continuous ambula- tory peritoneal dialysis patients, especially for the elderly ones.

Objective To investigate the effects of β-adrenoceptor (β-AR) activation on the apoptosis in human mesangial cells and it's mechanism. Methods Cultured HMC were used in experiments and were divied into four groups:the control group; β-AR activation (β-AR agonist NE/Pra) group; β-AR inhibitor (Prop) group; antioxidants group. The experiments technology including PCR,confocal scanning microscope, immunofluorescence and Tunel. Results The results of RTPCR and confocal scanning microscope showed that β1-AR and β2-AR were expressed in human HMC.β-AR activation induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) increase in human MCs,the relative levels of ROS were elevated as early as 0.5 h after β-AR activation, and gradually increased and peaked at 4 h on a concentration and time dependent manner.Tunel results demonstrated that β-AR activation induced apoptosis with ROS on a concentration and time dependent manner,β-AR blocking agent-propranolol significantly inhibited β-AR activation induced apoptosis.Antioxidants including vitamin C and NAC could inhibited β-AR activation induced apoptosis (all P < 0.01).Conclusions β-AR is functionally expressed in human mesangial cell, furthermore β-AR activation-induced ROS increase mediate apoptosis.Antioxidants can inhibit β-AR activation induced apoptosis.

Abstract
During the yellow fever epidemic in Angola in 2016, cases of yellow fever were reported in China for the first time. The
11 cases, all Chinese nationals returning from Angola, were identified in March and April 2016, one to two weeks after
the peak of the Angolan epidemic. One patient died; the other 10 cases recovered after treatment. This paper reviews the
epidemiological characteristics of the 11 yellow fever cases imported into China. It examines case detection and disease
control and surveillance, and presents recommendations for further action to prevent additional importation of yellow fever
into China.
