Objective:To investigate the changes of monoamine oxidase B(MAO B)activity in variety of neurodegenerative animal models and to discuss their significance.Methods:The neurodegenerative models were built with NIH male mice by means of the cerebral ischemia-reperfusion,aluminum overloading and carbon monoxide intoxication,respectively.The learning and memory ability of mice,MAO B activity of brain homogenates,and pathomorphological changes of hippocampal slices were determined using Morris maze and Step-down tests,MAO B kit,as well as microscopic observation with HE stain.Result:Although the significantly decreasing learning and memory ability and loss and karyopyknosis of hippocampal neurons were observed in three groups of animal models,compared with control group,the changes of MAO B activity were quite different.There was no significant change in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model,but the unusual elevation was found in both aluminum overloading model and carbon monoxide intoxication model.Conclusion:The abnormal increase of MAO B does not occur in a variety of neurodegenerative animal models,which may indicate that the cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model can be used in the research of dementia and aluminum overloading model and carbon monoxide intoxication model can be used in the research of both dementia and extrapyramidal disease.

There have been more than 100 cases of idiopathic hypoparathyroidism(IHP) reported in our country. The 8 cases reported in this paper showed some special features in the clinical manifestations, the biochemical parameters, and the response to treatment.Clinical, one case was complicated with Klinefelter's syndrome. Another case suffered from subcorneal pustulosis prior to the onset of idiopathic hypo-parathyroidism. Two cases were misdiagnosed as epilepsy and admitted to the department of neurology. Generalized exfoliative dermatitis was induced in one case by large doses of antiepileptic agents to control the convulsive seizures.Biochemically, both CPK and LDH were elevated in one case. Serum calcium was as low as 2.4 mg/dl in one case, and serum phosphrus was as high as 11.7 mg/d1 in another. These phenomena were rarely encounted in IHP.Therapeutically, transplantation of homogenous parathyroid gland with blood vessels was the method of choice. Two cases were treated in this way with good results. A third case received a dog's parathyroid gland, which also showed good results. The mechanism of heterogenous parathyroid transplantation needs further investigation.In addition, the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of IHP were discussed.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus cognitive function training in treating Parkinson's disease dementia.Methods Sixty Parkinson's disease dementia patients were randomly allocated to a treatment group and a control group, 30 cases each. The treatment group was intervened by acupuncture plus cognitive function training, and the control group by conventional drug treatment. The Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE) and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) were recorded in the two groups before and after the treatment. The therapeutic effects were compared between the two groups.Results The MMSE score and MoCA score were significantly changed after treatment in the two groups (P<0.05). There were significant post-treatment differences in the MMSE score and MoCA score between the treatment group and control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 90.0% in the treatment group versus 70.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant between the two groups (P<0.05).Conclusions Acupuncture plus cognitive function training can effectively improve the symptoms of Parkinson's disease dementia.

Objective To evaluate routine ultrasonography combined with virtual touch tissue imagine (VTI) in the diagnosis of thyroid nodules .Methods The aim of the present study was to evaluate clinical value of conventional ultrasound and VTI elastography for thyroid nodules .We selected 36 thyroid nodule cases from 2013 to 2014 of our hospital .Dimensional ultrasound , Color Doppler Flow Imaging ( CDFI ) and Virtual touch tissue imagine (VTI)were used for diagnosis, and postoperative pathology results were compared .Results The conventional ultra-sonic testing had sensitivity 100%, specificity 96.5%, and accuracy 83.3%; The sound palpation tissue imaging (VTI) test had sensitivity 96.1%, specificity 86.2% and accuracy 86.1%.It was statistically significant ( p<0.05).Conclusion Routine two-dimensional ultrasound, Color doppler flow imaging (cdfi) and Virtual touch tis-sue imaging ( VTI) in the diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules have their own advantages and character -istics.They should be combined in clinical , which can improve diagnostic accuracy in the diagnosis of benign and malignant.

Induction of possible male sterility in laboratory rats by gossypol was examined by microscopic observations on sperm motility, sperm morphology following silver staining, and meiosis. The rats were force-fed with gossypol acetate once with 400mg/kg body weight. In a span of 2-5 weeks post-feeding, a marked reduction of sperm motility was observed with a concurrent increase of abnormal spermatozoa Silver staining of the spermatozoa showed various tail abnormalities, including disrupted connecting piece, bent tails, looped tails, and cracked midpiece, Sperm head structure appeared to be not affected. Beginning 6 weeks post-feeding, there was a complete recovery. Short-term in vitro experiments showed similar but weaker response. In all samples, histologieal sections and cytogenetic preparations of testes revealed no abnormalities in the activity and normally of meiotic divisions. In animals 2-4 weeks after feeding with gossypol, no argentophilic accessary structures in developing mammalian spermatids were observed.

24 cases(25 eyes)of traumatic cataract with various complications were performed combined operations such as vitrectomy and extracapsular lensectomy from behind to leave the anterior capsule followed by imp- lantation of IOL,vitrectomy and removal of intraocular foreign body followed by secon- dary extracapsular extraction of the cataract and IOL implantation when the lens became opaque,and removal of intraocular foreign body with extracapsular extraction of the lens and IOL implantation.The position of incision,the method of anterior capsulotomy and nucleus delivery,the irrigation and aspiration of lens cortex and the timing of the operation were discussed.

The lung is one of the important target organs of chemical poisoning. Chemical toxins may be absorbed into body through blood circulation of the lungs,inducing systemic damage. Mean?while,they may also directly damage the lungs themselves. Lung injury is usually rapid and life-threatening. This review systematically introduced the toxicological mechanisms and poisoning management of lung injury agents.

Objective To compare and analyze the Brucea javanica oil emulsion,hydroxy camptothecin bladder perfusion of recurrence after operation of superficial bladder cancer.Methods 80 cases with superficial blad-der cancer were randomly divided into group A and group B (n=40 ).Group A received intravesical instillation of Brucea javanica oil emulsion,group B received intravesical instillation of hydroxycamptothecin.The serum tumor marker levels were compared between two groups,and the recurrence rate and adverse reactions in the two groups were observed.Results At 1 day before operation,postoperative 7d,the serum Dickkopf-1 (DKK-1 ),Dickkopf-2 (DKK-2),Dickkopf-3(DKK-3),Dickkopf-4(DKK-4),vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGFA), vascular endothelial growth factor B(VEGFB),vascular endothelial growth factor C(VEGFC)of the two groups had no statistically significant differences (P>0.05).Postoperative 6 months,the serum levels of DKK-1,DKK-2, DKK-3,DKK-4,VEGFA,VEGFB,VEGFC in group A were (20.62 ±2.84)g/L,(29.15 ±6.32)g/L,(18.66 ± 4.53)g/L,(32.34 ±6.42)g/L,(80.72 ±9.16)g/L,(60.43 ±16.73)g/L,(70.31 ±8.41)g/L,respectively, which were lower than those of group B [(27.42 ±3.76)g/L,(38.16 ±4.34)g/L,(30.37 ±5.35)g/L,(47.26 ± 7.72)g/L,(146.31 ±12.44)g/L,(83.14.14.07)g/L,(91.58 ±7.82)g/L,respectively,t=-2.92,-2.58,-2.82,-2.41,-2.80,-2.75,-2.70,all P<0.01].The recurrence rate of group A was 7.5%(3/40),which was significantly lower than 15.0%(6/40)of group B(6/40)(χ2 =6.11,P <0.05).The incidence rate of adverse reac-tions of group A was 12.5%,which was significantly lower than 27.5% of the control group(χ2 =5.46,P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with hydroxyl camptothecine vesical perfusion,the effect of intravesical instillation of Brucea javanica oil emulsion in preventing the postoperative recurrence of superficial bladder cancer is more significant,can effectively reduce the levels of serum tumor marker,with less adverse reactions,it is worth application and promotion.

Epigastric surgery (76 cases )was performed under epidural block by 0.5% bupivacaine, including 43 patients receiving bupivacainc made in China and 33 cases receiving it made abroad. Bupivacainc made in China was compared with that imported. The onset and duration of action and of Post-oprative analgesia were not significantly different in both groups. Effects of adrenaline on the duration of bupivacaine were not significiant. Both gave good analgesia and muscle relaxation, and toxication was not detected. However, a fall in the blood pressure during bupivacainc analgesia was shown more often than that during lidocaine analggesia. This suggests that sympathetic preganglionic fibers are sensitive to bupivacaine.
