China Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy 2005;0(02):-
Objective:To observe the effect of prolonging life and inhibiting tumor growth of Xiaozhensan on H22 cells-bearing mice and study the mechanism of action. Methods:①H22 cells-bearing mice models were made by subcutaneous injection and were divided into six groups:model group, low, middle and high dosage groups of Xiaozhensan,5-FU group,5-FU plus Xiaozhensan middle dosage group. After 10 days' treatment, the mice were killed and the anti-tumor rates were calculated,to detect the content of IL-2 and observe pathological sections of tumor and expression of Bcl-2 by immunohistochemical method. ②H22 cells-bearing ascites mice models were divided as the above. The living days of the mice were recorded, the prolongation of life span were calculated. Results:Xiaozhensan had the function of inhibiting the growth of tumor, and there was the dependability between quantity and effect. In pathomorphology, the sections of Xiaozhensan groups showed nuclear shrinkage, necrosis, hemorrhage, inflammatory cell infiltration on the periphery, etc. Xiaozhensan could increase the content of IL-2 and inhibit the expression of Bcl-2. Xiaozhensan combined with 5-FU can prolong the life span of the mice bearing ascites tumor. Conclusion:Xiaozhensan had the function of inhibiting the growth of tumor. The mechanism of action may be concerned with these aspects:enhancing the cellullar immunologic response and strengthening the ability to resist tumor, inducing apoptosis and weakening reproductive activity of tumor, etc. Middle dosage group of Xiao Zhen San combined with anticarcinogenic western medicin can prolong the life span of the mice bearing ascites tumor. This study provided dependable experimental documents for clinical application of Xiaozhensan, and had some guiding significance in clinic.

Objective To observe the results of function MRI and perimetry in patients with visual pathway diseases. Methods Three patients (6 eyes) with pituitary adenoma and craniopharyngioma diagnosed via pathological examination and three healthy volunteers aged from 24 to 30 were collected. The best corrected visual acuity was non-light perception-1. 0 in the 6 sick eyes and 1. 0 in the healthy eyes;all the involved individuals had no other ocular diseases except myopia and without any contraindications of MRI. Common tests including the best visual acuity, fundus test by direct or indirect ophthalmoscope, center static visual field tested by Octopus 101 perimeter, program 32, tendency oriented perimetry were performed. The visual stimulation subtended a field of view of about 12 degrees, consisted of high contrast and drifting checkerboards. MRI parameters: GE signa VH/i 3. 0T scanner. Functional data: GRE-EPI sequence, 20 slices lying perpendicular to the calcarine sulcus. Anatomical data was obtained using 3DSPGR sequence to acquire high resolution. The cortical surface was unfolded and then cut and inflated. Functional data was presented to the inflated surface and subsequently analyzed by AFNI software. Results In six eyes, three had temporal defects, two had upper temporal visual field defects, and the other one did not finish the visual field test. The retinotopic representations of health adults were obtained by using the phase-encoded visual stimulation. The Eccentricity coordinate maps showed that foveal representations lay in the occipital poles and the representations appeared further anterior as eccentricity increased. The polar angle coordinate maps showed that early retinotopically organized areas had a representation of visual field. The visual cortex beneath the calcarine sulcus matched with the upper visual field of the opposite side and which upon the calcarine sulcus matched with the under visual field of the opposite side. Less or no visual cortex response was revealed in the patients' function MRI or the response in injury side was vanished. The visual cortex response related with the visual field defects could not be induced in function MRI. Conclusion There is a good correlation between function MRI data and the results of perimetric evaluation. The function MRI can show the visual cortex response correlated with the visual field defects of the patients with visual pathway diseases.

International Eye Science 2014;(8):1498-1501
AIM: To comprehensively investigate the current status of cataract surgery in Leshan city, and find the existing problems according to the survey results as a guide to cataract prevention and treatment in future.
METHODS: We surveyed the status of cataract surgery containing equipments, surgeons and surgery conditions in 17 ophthalmology departments of general hospitals from Leshan including 6 counties, 1 county-level city and 4 districts during 2012. Cataract surgery methods, according to various surgery financial resources, surgical performances and surgical incision, were divided into phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation ( Phaco + IOL ) , extracapsular cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation ( ECCE + IOL ) , and each method contained 2 groups. We analyzed the outcomes following preoperative examination, surgeons, surgical methods, surgical equipments, types of IOL, surgical quantity, surgical results, and intraoperative complication.
RESULTS: In whole city there were 16 operating microscopes, 43 slit lamp microscopes, 12 non-contact tonometers, 1 intraocular lens Master, 8 optical A/B type ultrasonic examination systems, 4 YAG lasers and 12 phacoemulsification instruments. There 15 doctors could complete cataract surgery independently, and 5 of them were phacoemulsification surgeons. The total number of completed cataract surgeries reached 6 211 eyes, containing 3 564 eyes for Phaco+IOL ( 57%) ( preoperative visual acuity ≥0. 3 in Phaco+IOL1 were 1 520 eyes, 24%) and 2 647 eyes for ECCE+IOL ( 43%) ( 1 533 eyes in ECCE+IOL1, 25%). In various groups, off-blindness rate was 94. 80%-100%, off-disability rate was 90. 41%-100%, and 94. 96% - 100% received intraocular lens implantation, intraoperative complication rate was 1. 00%-15. 10%.
CONCLUSION: The distribution of surgeons and equipments in the whole city is unbalanced, and the utilization rate of phaco equipment is low. The levels are different in various hospitals on surgical technique, surgical quantity and surgical results. Phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation is considered as the main therapy for cataract, and as a transition to dioptric and personalized cataract surgery. The surgical condition of the city is good, but the proportion of cataract surgery for prevention of blindness in Leshan city is low, and the surgical technique remains to be further improved.
