3.Predictors of efficacy before vagus nerve stimulation in drug-resistant epilepsy
Chinese Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2021;36(7):551-554
Vagus nerve stimulation is an effective treatment for drug-resistant epilepsy, and its efficacy and safety have been confirmed after over two decades of clinical practices. However, reassuring predictors to evaluate whether patients with drug-resistant epilepsy could gain benefit from vagus nerve stimulation has not been established, because the underlying mechanism remain poorly understood.Previous studies revealed that presumable patient-related predictors included age, epileptic seizure type, epilepsy etiology, epilepsy syndrome, cognitive and behavioral responsiveness, scalp electroencephalographic related signals and heart rate variability related signals. However, most of the predictors still remain controversial due to the factors such as the heterogeneity of different research design. This article aims at analyzing and concluding the information from relevant literatures, and summing up the predictors of efficacy before vagus nerve stimulation in refractory epilepsy to highlight the future work.
4.The value of fragmentation QRS wave in rat myocardial infarction model
Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2017;52(7):1078-1080,1084
To set up rat myocardial infarction model and to investigate significance of fragmented QRS wave in rat myocardial infarction model.40 rats were divided into sham-operated group and myocardial infarction group, these two sets of rats received surgeries under the same conditions.Myocardial infarction models were induced by opening chest and anterior descending branch of coronary artery deligation for rats.Rats in sham-operated group were only threaded without deligation.Recorded the electrocardiogram(ECG) during 10, 60 min and 4 weeks after the deligation(or threading) and analyzed the change rules of the fragmented QRS waves and Q waves.Tissue samples from myocardial infarction area were collected for HE staining 4 weeks after the surgery. The frequency of fragmented QRS wave in myocardial infarction group was significantly increased during 10, 60 min and at 4 weeks after the operation compared with sham-operated group(P<0.01).Myocardial cells of some models in myocardial infarction group arranged in disorder and showed vacuolation according to results of HE staining.By setting up rat myocardial infarction model, we can draw a conclusion that fragmented QRS wave can be used as a new indicator to diagnose acute myocardial infarction and old myocardial infarction predict the severity of the disease.
5.Novel drugs and novel regimens in treatment of advanced gastric cancer
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(05):-
There is a high prevalence of gastric cancer in China, but most of the patients are diagnosed at advanced stages, when chemotherapy is regarded as an important component of the multimodal treatment.Chemotherapy has demonstrated advantages over best suppor-tive care in prolonging survival and improving quality of life.Over the past 40 years, the clinical responses of two or three-drug combination chemotherapy regimens have been accepted, and 5-fluorouracil,cisplatin and epirubicin have been most frequently used in gastric cancer.Recently, the therapeutic effects of advanced gastric cancer treated by new regimen consisted of docetaxel, irinotecan, oxaliplatin and capecitabine have been further enhanced. The molecular targeted agent, cetuximab and bevacizumab, combined with chemotherapy, would be more promising therapeutic regimens in the treatment of advanced gastric caner.

7.Fluorescence in situ hybridization for detection of bladder cancer
International Journal of Surgery 2009;36(7):488-491
Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is a kind of technique that uses fluoreseently la-beled DNA probes to assess cells for genetic alterations. UroVysion is a technique that uses FISH to detect bladder cancer in the voided urine by four fluorescently labeled DNA probes to the pericentromeric regions of chromosomes 3 ( CEP3 ) ,7 (CEPT), and 17 (CEP17) and to the 9p21 locus ( LSI 9p21 ) location of the p16 tumor suppressor gene. It is reported that sensitivity of FISH was higher than cytology for the detection of all stages and grades of bladder cancer. FDA has approved UroVysion for the detection of recurrent bladder cancer in voided urine specimens from patients with a history of bladder cancer in the year 2001 and from pa-tients with gross or microscopic hematuria but no previous history of bladder cancer in the year 2005. Fur-thermore, UroVysion can benefit the assessment of bladder cancer patients receiving BCG treatment.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 1999;0(07):-
Objective To study the effect on bone formation by intermittent administration of simvastatin. Methods Seventy three month old virgin female rats, weighted (200?10) g each had been divided into two groups ovariectomized (50 rats) and pseudo ovarectomized (20 rats). Ten rats each of Group A and Group B were sacrified at the 30 th day for the confirmation of successful establishment models of the osteoporosis. Then the remaining animals were re divided into 5 groups: Group A, pseudo ovarectomized control, 10 rats; Group B, ovarectomized control, 10 rats; Group C, given Nylestriol 0.1 mg/(kg?d), 10 rats; Group D, 10 rats, given calcium 10 mg and vitamin D3 2 IU/(kg?d); Group E, 10 rats given simvastatin 5 mg/(kg?d) for 14 days; and the drug was suspended for 28 days, then simvastatin was given for another 14 days. All of the animals were given the agents through gastric tube 30 days after surgery. At 120 th day all the rats were sacrified for the measurements of bone mineral content and bone mineral density by the dual energy X ray absorptiometry for bone mophometrical study. Results The average of bone mineral content was (46?11.34) mg (P

Chinese Journal of Urology 2000;0(01):-
Objective To study the antitumor mechanisms of pirarubicin (THP) and its effect on preventing postoperative recurrence of superficial bladder cancer. Methods MTT assay, flow cytometry and transmission electron microscope were used to assess the effects of different concentration of THP on T24 cell line. THP 40 mg in 50 ml distil water was used intravesically in 60 patients with transitional cell carcinoma after TURBT to prevent tumor recurrence. Results T24 cells were suppressed significantly by THP in concentrations of 10 mg/L and 100 mg/L,the suppressive rates being 80% and 94% respectively. Apoptosis peak was evident before G1 phase. The characteristics of cell apoptosis, such as bubble formation in cytoplasm and condensed chromosome, were typically manifested. Cells became necrotic when the concentration of THP was 1 000 mg/L. One course of THP intravesical administration was completed in 58 cases. All patients were followed up for a mean of 18.8 months (range 6~24 months), and tumor recurred only in 5 cases (8.6%). Conclusions Suppression of tumor cell growth and inducing apoptosis, even necrosis, might be the main antitumor mechanisms of THP. Clinically, intravesical administration of THP after TURBT was effective and safe for preventing tumor recurrence.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 1996;0(02):-
Objective:To establish an animal model of oral lichen planus (OLP). Methods:Human non-erosive OLP lesion tissue was surgically transplanted into dorsal hypoderm or tongue abdomen in 10 severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) mice, thereafter, growth and possible alterations of histopathological characteristics of the xenografts were observed for 2 weeks. Results:All the xenografts transplanted into dorsal hypoderm or tongue abdomen healed well.Partial liquefaction and subepithelial lymphocytes diffuse infiltration were observed in epithelial basement membrane in the first week after transplantation. During the subsequent week, the degenerated moiety was hardly to be seen, and the number of subepithelial lymphocytes was gradually decreased. Conclusions:The epithelia of OLP xenografts grow well in SCID mice but can not keep its histopathological features.
