Objective: To detect the role of hypoxia in the regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP 2) in oral squamous cell carcinoma cell lines. Methods: Oral squamous cell carcinoma TSCCa and TNM cells were treated by hypoxia at ?=1% of oxygen for 4~12 h. VEGF and MMP 2 in the cells were quantitatively determined by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The mRNA expression of VEGF and MMP 2 in the two cell lines was evaluated by semi quantitative RT PCR. Results: In both cell lines VEGF and MMP 2 were increased after 4 hour hypoxia treatment (P

Objective: To determine the relationship of the expression of transforming growth factor ?1(TGF ?1), TGF ?2 and TGF? receptor(T?RⅡ) with the development of squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Methods: 40 cases of OSCC and 20 cases of normal oral mucosa were examined with SABC immunohistochemical staining for the expression of TGF ?1, TGF ?2 and T?RⅡ. Results: Semi quantitative analysis revealed that TGF ?1, TGF ?2 and T?RⅡ were expresed in OSCC and normal oral mucosa. TGF ?1, TGF ?2 were overexpressed in OSCC compared with those in normal oral mucosa, while T?RⅡ expression were reduced. Overexpression of TGF ?1, TGF ?2 and reduced expression of T?RⅡ were associated with pathological grade, clinical stage and neck lymph node metastasis( P

Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of Shuxuetong injection combined with Edaravone in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction. Methods Seventy patients with acute cerebral infarction were randomly divided into two groups, the treatment group was given Shuxuetong injection and Edaravone, and the control group was treated by Shuxuening injection. Two groups were treated with routine therapy. ESS and ADL content changes in two groups were assessed at different point before treatment and two weeks after treatment. Results The score of ESS of two groups increased after treatment (P < 0.05) ,but that in the Shuxuetong group was dramatically increased ,showing significantly different from that in the control group(P <0.05). ADL of the two groups improved after treatment(P <0.01) ,but the increase in the Shuxuetong group was significantly compared to the control group(P <0.05). Conclusion Shuxuetong injection combined with edaravone is an effective and safe medicine in treatment of acute cerebral infarction.

Objective To explore whether or not driamycin inhibits mEC cells by apoptosis. MethodsAdriamycin was used for mucoepidermoid carcinoma cells mEC-l. Morphologic changes were observed atdifferent times by light and electronic microscope. DNA fragments were shown on agarose gelelectrophoresis. DNA content and cell cycles were analyzed by flow cytometer. Changes of intracellularcalcium ion was monitored by flow cytometer. Results mEC-1 cells presented with classic morphologicfeatures of apoptosis. Intracellular calcium ion was increased. Conclusion Apoptosis followed by thechanges of intracellular calcium ion in human salivary gland mucoepidermoid carcinoma cells is one of themechanisms of adriamycin inhibited tumor cell growth.

Objective: To study the role of transforming growth fa ctor ?1(TGF-?1) in the procession of human oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: Immunohistiochemical techinic was used to determine o ncogene c-myc,c-erbB2,TGF-?1 and EGFR protein expression in oral squamou s cell carcinoma cell line TSCCa and metastasis carcinoma cell line GNM treated by different levels of TGF-?1. Results: TGF-?1 showed different effects on the two cell lines. TGF-?1 significantly increased the expression of C-myc,CerbB2 and slightly enhanced TGF-?1 and EGFR protein expression in GNM cells, while TGF-?1 decreased the expression of C-myc,C erbB2,TGF-?1 and EGFR in TSCCa cells; moreover, the changes of protein ex pression of C-myc,CerbB2 were dose-dependent on TGF-?1. Conclusi on: TGF-?1 have different role in the oral squamous cell carcinoma cell lines.

Objective To express human chemokine-like factor 1 (CKLF1) in Drosophila S2 cells and study its function. Methods The pMT/V5-His-CKLF1 expression plasmid was constructed and transfected into Drosophila S2 cells. The positive clones were selected through PCR and RT-PCR. The culture medium was analyzed by Western blot with anti-CKLF1 polyclonal antibody. Chemotaxis and MTT assays on human peripheral blood and C2C12 cells, respectively, were then carried out with the medium. Results CKLF1 was transcribed efficiently in S2 cells. The expressed CKLF1 protein could be detected in the culture supernatant by Western blot, which showed weak chemotactic activity on both human peripheral blood neutrophils and lymphocytes as well as enhancing effect on the proliferation of C2C12 cells. Conclusion CKLF1 was expressed successfully in Drosophila S2 cells and secreted into the culture medium. The recombinant CKLF1 expressed in Drosophila cells can chemoattract leucocytes and promote the proliferation of C2C12 cells.

Esophageal collision tumor is an extremely rare tumor which defined as the concrescence of two distinct primary neoplasms. The pathobiological mechanism of collision tumors is yet to be understood.Clinical symptoms, endoscopic examination and imaging are all lack of specificity.Diagnosing a collision tumor prior to surgery is difficult.Careful pathological examination is crucial for accurately diagnosing the neoplasms in a collision tumor and ensuring appropriate management and a favorable prognosis.Esophageal collision tumors have been increasingly reported in recent years. With the aim of improving the knowledge level of esophageal collision tumor, the clinical and pathological features of this tumor is needed to be summarized.

Objective To investigate the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of toothache drop pills. Methods The acute inflammatory models such as xylene-induced ear edema and egg white-induced paw edema and the chronic inflammatory model granuloma induced by cotton pellet implantation were used in researching the inflammatory effects of toothache drop pills. Meanwhile, the analgesic effects of toothache drop pills were observed by hot plate and acetic acid writhing test. Results Compared with the blank control group, the degree of ear swelling in mice in the positive control group, toothache drop pills middle and high dose group (2.56 ± 1.35 mg, 4.26 ± 1.21 mg, 3.23 ± 1.25 mg vs. 8.25 ± 1.21 mg) were lower than the blank control group (P<0.05). 120 minutes after administration, compared with the blank control group, the degree of paw swelling in mice in the positive control group, toothache drop pills middle and high dose group (23.54 ± 9.12 mg, 27.58 ± 9.14 mg, 21.25 ± 8.45 mg vs.39.54 ± 8.89 mg) were lower than the blank control group (P<0.05). Granuloma swelling quality in mice caused by cotton in the positive control group, toothache drop pills middle and high dose group (6.51 ± 2.58 mg, 7.82 ± 1.57 mg, 6.58 ± 3.47 mg vs. 13.58 ± 3.25 mg) were lower than the blank control group (P<0.05). The threshold of pain in mice in the positive control group, toothache drop pills middle and high dose group (20.86 ± 2.58 s, 20.25 ± 2.14 s, 20.75 ± 1.78 s vs.17.21 ± 3.31 s) were increased (P<0.05). The number of mice writhing in the positive control group, toothache drop pills middle and high dose group (23.47 ± 7.57, 28.65 ± 6.54, 24.36 ± 7.78 vs. 40.96 ± 6.58) were decreased(P<0.05). Conclusion Toothache drop pills had obvious anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.
