Objective To investigate the effects of Puerarin on the expression of hyperphosphorylated-tau (P_ ser404-tau) and choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) in hippocampus of Alzheimer's disease(AD) rats.Methods The rats were divided into sham-operation group, AD group and Puerarin treated group at randomly. The AD rat models were established by injecting amyloid-beta peptide(A?_ 25-35) into right amygdala. The sham-operation rats were injected with trifluoroacetic acid in the same location. The spatial memory function was observed by Y-maze. Objective To study the relationship between the changes of ten elemental contents in serum and schizophrenia.Methods Calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), aluminum (Al), arsenic (As), selenium (Se), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), manganese (Mn) in serum in the of schizophrenic patients and normal subjects are measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer and inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometer, compared the content of elements between the schizophrenia and normal.Results There were significant differences ( P<0.05) in other elements between two groups except lead.The contents of Ca,Fe,Mg,Zn,As,Se,Cu in the patients with schizophrenia were significantly lower than those in control, while Al, Mn were significantly higher than those in control.Most of elements in serum between case and control groups were correlated (P<0.05).Some of element ratios which have physiological significance were significant statistically (P<0.05), such as: Ca/Mg, Ca/Fe and so on.Conclusion These findings suggest that the patients with schizophrenia might have an abnormal elemental metabolism.Given the relationship among the elements, the element ratios are more valuable in reflecting the relationship between schizophrenia and elements.

Objective To observe the bacteriostasis of herba houttuyniae liquid in bladder irrigation for treatment of rabbit bladder infection model, and to offer a new way for prevention and treatment of urinary tract infection.Methods Twenty male New Zealand long-eared white rabbits were divided into gentamicin control group and three different concentrations herba houttuyniae groups according to random number table method, each group 5 rabbits. The rabbit bladder infection model was replicated by injecting coli liquid 1 mL (105 cfu/mL) into the urinary bladder through a urethral catheter, and clipping the catheter for 1 hour. After model establishment for 3 days, in the three herba houttuyniae groups, 0.25, 0.50, 1.00 g/mL herba houttuyniae liquid 50 mL were injected into the bladder respectively, and in the gentamicin control group, 160 kU gentamicin was injected into the bladder. Before molding and after molding for 3, 5, 7, 9 days, ear blood in rabbit was taken, and white blood cell (WBC) count and neutrophil percentage (N%) were tested; at the same time, the middle segment morning urine was taken to detect bacteriuria and urine WBC positive rates; after the experiment, the animals were sacrificed, the urinary bladder tissues were taken, and the pathological changes in urinary bladder tissue were observed by a light microscope.Results Before molding, the bacteriuria in animals of each group was negative and the results of urine WBC, blood WBC and N% were within normal range. After molding for 3 days, bacteriuria and urine WBC positive rates reached 100%; with the prolongation of treatment after molding, the above two rates in each group were gradually decreased, and herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL and 1.00 g/mL groups appeared statistical significance on the 5th day (bacteriuria positive rate was 60% and 40%, urine WBC positive rate was 60% and 40% respectively, while the gentamicin control group and herba houttuyniae 0.25 g/mL group was still 100% positive, allP < 0.01); on the 9th day, the bacteriuria positive rate in both higher dosage herba houttuyniae groups was 0, in 0.25 g/mL group, it still had the positive rate 20%, showing herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL and 1.00 g/mL had stronger inhibitory effect than herba houttuyniae 0.25 g/mL. WBC and N% were increased in each group after molding, and on the 3rd day, WBC and N were significantly higher in each group than those before molding [WBC (×109/L): gentamicin control group 13.00±5.23 vs. 8.95±2.69, herba houttuyniae 0.25 g/mL group 14.52±10.28 vs. 8.73±3.16, herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL group 12.97±11.33 vs. 7.83±4.51, herba houttuyniae 1.00 g/mL group 13.03±9.17 vs. 6.45±3.85. N%: gentamicin control group 80.99±14.93 vs. 63.41±7.96, herba houttuyniae 0.25 g/mL group 89.62±9.41 vs. 70.01±9.13, herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL group 87.69±11.34 vs. 67.75±8.91, herba houttuyniae 1.00 g/mL group 85.67±12.81 vs. 65.12±4.63]. On the 7th day, WBC and N% fell, and on the 9th day, the WBC and N% were restored to normal range in herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL and 1.00 g/mL groups [WBC (×109/L): herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL group 8.56±5.38, herba houttuyniae 1.00 g/mL group 7.93±4.82. N%: herba houttuyniae 0.50 g/mL group 65.97±8.35, herba houttuyniae 1.00 g/mL group 65.57±9.12]. Under light microscopy, it was shown that the morphological appearances of tissue cells in various layers of bladder mucosa were normal in herba houttuyniae group, demonstrating that herba houttuyniae fluid in bladder did not cause allergic inflammatory reaction, etc.Conclusion The bacteriostatic action of herba houttuyniae liquid for bladder irrigation in treatment of rabbits with urinary tract infection is better than that of gentamicin.

Objective: To investigate the physical and intellectual development and mutation characteristics of the phenylalanine hydroxylase (PAH) gene among 53 newborns with phenylketonuria (PKU), so as to provide insights into the management and genetic counseling of PKU Methods: The medical records of 54 children with definitive diagnosis of PKU and standardized therapy until 2 years at the Center for Neonatal Disease Screening of Shanxi Children' s Hospital from 2018 to 2021 were collected. Newborns' body weight and height developments were evaluated using the World Health Organization growth chart (2006 version), and the intellectual development was assessed using the national criteria of Development Behavior Assessment Scale among Children at Ages of 0 to 6 Years (WS/T 580-2017). The gene mutations were detected among neonates and their children, and the physical, intellectual developments and genetic characteristics of neonates with PKU were descriptively analyzed. Results: The 53 PKU cases included 29 male children and 24 female children, 36 cases with classic PKU and 17 cases with mild PKU, and 30 cases from rural areas and 23 cases from urban areas. The study subjects had a median age of 30 (10) d at initial therapy, and a mean blood phenylalanine concentration of (1 507±685) μmol/L at definitive diagnosis. There were 52 cases with normal height developments (98.11%), and all cases had normal weight and intellectual developments. The mean developmental functional quotient (DFQ) was significantly greater among urban children with PKU than among rural children [(94.92±8.57) vs. (87.65±6.57); t=-3.498, P=0.001], and the mean DFQ was significantly higher among children with mild PKU than among those with classic PKU [(95.55±8.76) vs. (88.57±7.11); t=-3.095, P=0.003]. There were 37 mutations detected in the PAH gene, which were mainly distributed in exons 3, 6, 7, 11, 12 and intron 4. Three high-frequency mutation sites were detected, including c.728G>A, c.611A>G and c.1197A>T, including three novel mutations (c.674C>G, c.1316-2A>C and c.1069T>C). Conclusions Following standardized treatment, the children with PKU have comparable physical and intellectual developments as compared to normal children. c.728G>A, c.611A>G and c.1197A>T were predominant mutations in the PAH gene among these 53 children with PKU, and three novel mutations were identified, including c.674C>G, c.1316-2A>C and c.1069T>C.

Objective To reveal the self-management status of patients with hypertension in community, and to analyze the influencing factors of self-management behavior so as to provide theoretical basis for the formation and maintenance of self-management. Methods With the method of stratified random cluster sampling, 559 patients with hypertension were selected from twelve communities in six urban districts of Wuhan completed the questionnaire survey to analyze the demographic characteristics, executive condition of self-management behavior and related psychological behavior with hypertension patients. Results The average age was (61.2 ± 8.4) years. The rate of measuring blood pressure regularly was 38.39%, rate of regular medication was 63.83%, rate of low salt diet was 37.72%, and the rate of regular exercise was 50.45%. The score of self-management was 0.60 ± 0.21. Self efficacy was the influencing factor of self-management score (β=0.042 1,P<0.01). Conclusion Self assessed efficacy is closely related to self-management. Intervention should be guided by psychological behavior theory, and emphasized on psychological aspect.

Objective To analyze the compliance and the influencing factors of the children with congenital hypothyroidism (CH).Methods 231 children with CH were collected for this study.The questionnaire survey and referring the case were used to collect relative factors.According to regular follow -up treatment,the children were divided into two groups,one group was good compliance and the other one was bad compliance.The results were ana-lyzed by two -independent sample t -test,2 -test and unconditioned logistic regression analysis.Results (1)Blood TSH(χ2 =59.870,P =0.00) and blood FT4 (χ2 =6.468,P =0.01) were normal,short distance from the hospital (χ2 =16.375,P =0.00),level of education of their mothers was high(χ2 =7.483,P =0.02),and regular compli-ance treatment of children with CH(χ2 =7.483,P =0.024) was good.(2) Logistic stepwise regression analysis showed that serum TSH value(OR =17.135),the short distance(OR =1.692) and diagnosis of CH(OR =4.028) were introduced into the logistic regression model (all P <0.05).Conclusion It is essential to take measures actively and reinforce the management of children with long distance,low -educated,and the diagnosis of TSH.More-over,enhancing the regular treatment compliance of children with CH is the key to improve the growth and develop-ment status of children with CH.

Objective:To explore early predictive factors for outcomes of congenital hypothyroidism (CH) in neonates.Methods:A total of 242 neonates diagnosed as CH in Shanxi Provincial Newborn Disease Screening Center from October 2009 to October 2014 were enrolled in the study. All CH children were treated with levothyroxine sodium (L-T 4) for 2-3 years and continued to follow up for more than 1 year after drug withdrawal. Seventy two cases dropped out during the follow-up; among 170 patients entering the final analysis, there were 61 cases of permanent congenital hypothyroidism (PCH group) and 109 cases of transient congenital hypothyroidism (TCH group). The clinical data and the L-T 4 dose during follow-up period were compared between two groups; and the predicting factors of clinical outcomes were analyzed. Results:There were significant differences in baseline thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)level [127.0 (83.7,175.4) μIU/ml vs. 55.8(22.1,102.5)μIU/ml], initial treatment timing [26.0(20.5,34.5)d vs. 31.0(24.0,37.5)d], time required for TSH to return to normal [52.0(33.0,71.5)d vs.36.0(32.0,41.5)d], and thyroid ultrasound results [18.3%(11/60) vs. 94.0%(78/83)] between PCH group and TCH group. The initial screening TSH levels in children (optimal cut-off: 71.29 μIU/ml) and L-T 4 dose at 7 months after diagnosis (optimal cut-off: 24.4 μg/d) can be used for early differentiation between children with PCH and TCH. Conclusion:The initial TSH screening levels and the dose of L-T 4 during the follow-up period have predictive value for early differentiation of PCH and TCH in children.

Objective: To investigate the relationship between daily outdoor activity time both on and off campus and respiratory symptoms of junior middle school students, then to provide evidence for the prevention of respiratory diseases in adolescents. Methods: In 2016, two middle schools were selected in Wuhan，in which a total of 860 eighth grade students were surveyed, generalized linear analysis was conducted by SAS 9.4 software. Results: Average outdoor activity time out of campus during weekdays in boys and was (1.84±2.30) hours, which was higher than in girls (1.51±1.99) hours (t=2.19, P<0.05). Average outdoor activity time in campus in boys was (1.74±1.50) hours, which was significantly higher than that of girls (1.49±1.20) hours (t=2.68, P<0.05). According to the results of generalized linear analysis, after controlled for gender, age and self-perceived physical condition, the longer the time adolescents spent outside the classroom during weekday, the less likely they were to have symptoms of throat and nasal cavity(estimated value=-0.06,-0.07, P<0.05). Conclusion Adolescents who spend more time outside the classroom during weekday can effectively prevent the occurrence of respiratory related diseases.

Objective: To analyze the prevalence of overweight and obesity among adolescents in Wuhan and its association with bullying victimization,and to provide information for relevant interventions. Methods: A total of 3 251 adolescents in senior grade of primary school, middle school and high school were selected by using random clustering sampling method and were surveyed by questionnaire, height and weight were measured. Results: Among the 3 251 students, 523(16.09%) were overweight, and 445 (13.69%) were obesity. In the past 30 days, 732 (22.52%) of the adolescents had ever been bullied and 101(3.11%) had often been bullied. The relationship between overweight/obesity and bullying victimization among boys was not statistically significant by controlling areas and age(P>0.05). While girls who were overweight or obesity were more likely to be bullied (OR=1.78，1.58, P<0.05). Conclusion Overweight and obesity have a certain influence on the physical and mental development of adolescents, which may increase the possibility of being bullied among girls. Strategies should be taken to prevent overweight and obesity among children and adolescents, and a healthy body shape appreciation should be established, to reduce the incidence of bullying.
