Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 2014;(10):931-932
Objective To investigate the efficacy of wax therapy plus functional training in treating ankylosing spondylitis. Method One hundred patients were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups, 50 cases each. The treatment group received wax therapy plus functional training and the control group, functional training alone. One course of treatment consisted of seven days in both groups. The therapeutic effects clinical were evaluated after two course of treatment. Result Joint pain severity and morning stiffness time improved in both groups after treatment (P<0.05 or P<0.01) and did more in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.01). The total efficacy rates in the two groups were 84.0%and 66.0%, respectively;there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). Conclusion Wax therapy plus functional training is safe, reliable, convenient and easy to perform in clinical treatment of ankylosing spondylitis.
3.Determination of PKA Activity by Microtiter Plate Method
Chinese Journal of Blood Transfusion 1988;0(04):-
In the paper, a microtiter plate method was used to determine the residual prekallikrein activator(PKA) activity in blood products. The result of study indicated that it would be satisfactory that the reaction mixture of PKA and prekallikrein (PK) was iucul ?? at room temperature for 30 minutes with 0.05M Tris/0.15M NaCl buffer(pH 8.0) , and then the mixture continued to be incubated at room temperature for another 15 minutes after the chromogenic substrate for kallikrein was added. The method had a good reproducibility. The PKA contents determined in IVIG agreed with that of the processing method of IVIG and the hypotensive test of rats, and were basically consistent with the result, determined by the method developed by the Finnish Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service.

Objective To study the characteristic of memory impairment and its related factors in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods 155 PD patients were assigned to 4 age groups. Clinical memory scale, Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD) and Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAMA) were used to assess them. Results The memory quotient (MQ) of PD patients were significantly lower than the norm (P<0.01). The scores of associational learning, direct memory, picture recall and portrait association in each age groups were lower than norm (P<0.05), but nonsense figure recognition (P>0.05). The MQ of PD patients was significantly related with education and depression or anxiety (P<0.01), and was not correlated with age, gender and course of disease (P>0.05). Conclusion The MQ of PD patients are lower especially in associational learning, direct memory, picture recall and portrait association. The MQ of PD patients is correlated with education and depression or anxiety significantly.

Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2012;18(6):566-568
Objective To analyze the validity of clinical memory scale in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Methods 60 PD patientswere assessed by clinical memory scale and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). Results The scores of clinical memory scalesignificantly correlated with the scores of MMSE (r=0.608, P<0.001). The scores of clinical memory scale were higher in no-memory impairmentgroup than in memory impairment group (P<0.05). Conclusion Clinical memory scale is good at evaluating the memory impairmentof PD patients with good criteria validity and discriminating validity.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics, treatment effect,long-term follow up results, guanosine triphosphate (GTP) cyrclohydrolase Ⅰ (GCH Ⅰ)gene and tyrosine hydroxylase(TH) gene mutations in patients with dopa-responsive dystonia (DRD).Methods The clinical features of 3 families with 4 affected members were analyzed and all of 4 patients were screened for mutations of the GCH Ⅰ gene and TH gene with DNA sequences. Results Four patients were females, average age at onset was (15.3 ± 5.6) years (range:from 9 to 20 years). The initial symptoms were a gait disorder, stiffness or tremor of the lower limbs in all patients presented with diurnal fluctuation. As the increase of disease duration, bilateral hand tremor was found in three patients, systemic torsion was found in one patient and torticollis was found in one patient. All patients' symptoms were in complete remission after administration of low dose of levodopa.Four patients were followed up for 0.5 to 10.0 years, and all were still responsive to the levodopa treatment and effective dosage was decreased as the increase of the disease duration. No longterm side effects of levodopa had occurred after long-term treatment. One patient was found to have c.607G >A(p,Gly203Arg) heterogenetic mutation in GCH I gene.Molecular analysis revealed a compound heterozygous mutation in the TH gene (p.Y447Ter and p.V468M) in one patient. No point mutations in both genes were found in other patients. Conclusions DRD patients have dramatic and sustained response to levodopa and no long-term side effects of levodopa after long-term treatment. The detection of GCH Ⅰ and TH gene mutations is helpful in early diagnosis but the negative results could not exclude the diagnosis of DRD.
