1.Application of neural stem cells in nervous system diseases
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2010;14(1):175-178
BACKGROUND: The clinical application of neural stem cells (NSCs) in combination with gene therapy could be used to treat a variety of nervous system hereditary and acquired diseases. However, nervous system diseases are varying. Nerve tissue internal environment of distinctive diseases is also different. All these factors affect the therapeutic effect of NSCs. Moreover, interaction and regulation of a variety of exogenous genes in NSC gene therapy would greatly promote continued regeneration of nerve tissue.OBJECTIVE: To review application of NSCs in the nervous system diseases.METHODS: A computer-based online search of Medline database (2000-01/2009-08) and Tongfang database (2000-01/2009-08) was performed for related articles with key words "neural stem cells, gene, nervous system diseases". RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: A total of 88 English articles were collected. By reading the title and summary, 20 unrelated articles and 28 repetitive articles were excluded. Finally, 40 were reviewed. NSC as a new-type treatment has been used for somatic cell or transgenic vector, and has achieved a certain effect for cerebrovascular disease, brain damage disease, spinal cord injuries, neurodegenerative diseases, brain tumors, and genetic metabolic diseases. However, many key issues such as NSC proliferation, differentiation, migration and control mechanism have not been resolved. In addition, the microenvironment in nerve tissues with different diseases also influences NSC therapy.

AIM: To investigate the injuring effect of DMSO-soluble particles from cigarette smoke(DSP) on human umbilical vein endothelial cells. METHODS: Human umbilical vein endothelial cell line EA. hy 926 was used as target cells in the study. The growth and viability of the cells treated with various dosages (1, 2, 4 or 4 mL/L) of DSP and low dose (2 mL/L) of DSP at different time points were evaluated by MTT colorimetric assay and celllular protein assay in 96-well plates. Transmission electron microscopy study was carried out to observe the ultrastructure of human umbilical vein endothelial cells under DSP treatment.RESULTS: DSP inhibited the proliferation of human umbilical vein endothelial cell line EA. hy 926. Under DSP treatment, the reducing cellular protein and increasing cell death(mainly necrosis) were observed in time-dependent and dosage-dependent manners.CONCLUSIONS: These results indicated that the toxic effect of DSP caused functional disturbance and structural damage of human endothelial cells.

Journal of Jilin University(Medicine Edition) 2016;42(5):985-987
Objective:To study the clinical and pathological features of Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH), and to provide the reference for its diagnosis and treatment. Methods:The manifestation of one LCH patient was retrospectively analyzed. The features of the LCH patients were explored by analyzing the results of skin biopsy, radiological test and follow-up.The associated literatures were reviewed. Results:The patient presented the typical symptoms gradually, including polycystic lung, skin ulcer, diabetes insipidus, and lactation. The skin pathological findings showed the densely distributed mononuclear cell infiltration in dermis and the immunohistological staining result showed positive CD1a. The patient was follwed up for 7 years and died of heart and lung failure. Conclusion:LHC has various manifestations and should be confirmed by clinical features, pathological features and imaging examination. The adult patients with multisystem and vital organ involvement suggest the poor prognosis.

Objective To investigate the serum coxsackie virus B(CVB) infection and nitric oxide (NO)level of the patients suffer from latent or chronic Keshan disease and their characteristics in the etiopathology of Keshan disease. Methods Sera were isolated from 30 patients with latent or chronic Keshan disease in Huangling county.Shaanxi Province, and the CVB-specific IgM antibody and NO were tested. Control groups were health subjects in Huangling county or Xi'an city, Shaanxi Province. Results The percentage of CVB-specific IgM positive in patients in Huangling county was significantly higher than that of both control groups in Huangling county and Xi'an city (P<0. 05). The serum level of NO in patients was significantly higher than that of the control group in Huangling county (P<0.05) ,however, compared with control group in Xi'an city, there was no difference (P>0.05). In CVB-specific IgM positive patients, the serum level of NO was significantly higher than that of CVB-specific IgM negative group(P<0.05).Conclusion CVB infection and serum NO level might be related to the etiopathology and the development of Keshan disease.

Objective:
To investigate the effect of lung rehabilitation exercise on cancer-related fatigue and quality of life in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) undergoing chemotherapy.
Methods:
From October 2016 to October 2018, 82 patients with NSCLC treated in Zhejiang Rongjun Hospital were randomly divided into control group (41 cases) and observation group (41 cases) according to random number table method. The control group was given routine intervention, while the observation group was given lung rehabilitation exercise on the basis of the control group. Both two groups were evaluated after 8 weeks of intervention. The changes of lung function, cancer-related fatigue and quality of life before and after intervention were compared between the two groups.
Results:
After intervention, the FEV1% and FEV1/FVC in the two groups were higher than those before intervention (observation group:
