Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect and mechanism of specific inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS)aminoguanidine(AG)in rats with obstructive jaundice. Methods Forty male Wistar rats were divided randomly into four groups: normal control group, sham operation group, obstructive jaundice group and aminoguanidine therapeutic group. Each group had 10 rats.We assayed levels of liver function, hemobilirubin, endotoxin, lactic acid and malondialdehyde before and after therapy, and we also analyzed pathology of the liver and small intestine. Then we could explore the therapeutic effect of AG in rats with obstructive jaundice. Results The levels of endotoxin, lactic acid and malondialdehyde in blood increased progressively along with the pathological changes of the liver and small intestine. Each of the AG group parameters was significantly lower, and the pathological changes of liver and small intestine were improved. Conclusion AG could protect liver and small intestine by attenuating lipid peroxidative and endotoxemia, and provide a new way to cure obstructive jaundice.

Objective To study the correlation between storage time and the content of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) in Corni Fructus because of the color change caused by storage time. Methods Corni Fructus samples of different storage time with 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 years were collected. The contents of 5-HMF were determined by HPLC. Results The HPLC determination method of 5-HMF in Corni Fructus was established. The contents of 5-HMF varied from undetected value to 0.292 8%, with the increase of storage time of 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 years and the color gradually deepened from red, dark red, reddish brown to brown. The contents of 5-HMF in black wine-prepared Corni Fructus were 0.954 4%-1.837%. Conclusion The browning of Corni Fructus is related to the production of 5-HMF. With the extension of storage time of Corni Fructus, the color gradually deepens and the content of 5-HMF increase significantly. The storage time of Corni Fructus can be suggested to be one year.

Objectives To investigate the clinical and pathological characters , treatment of patients with Angioimmunoblastic T cell lymphoma(AITL). Methods From 1997 to 2004, 14 patients with AITL were reviewed retrospectively in our hospital. Results The most common symptoms at the presentation included general lymphadenopathy. 9 patients had fever. 3 patients had autoimmune hemolytic anemia. The histopathologic characteristics of AITL was generalized as:the damage of normal structure of lymphonodus, the proliferation of immunoblastic cell and arborescent supervascularization. All immunophenotyping were T cell type.14 patients were with ProMACE-CytaBOM regimen. The overall response rate was 57% and CR 3 cases, PR 5 cases. Median survival times was 25 months. 2-year survival was 60 %. Conclusions The most cases with AITL runs an aggressive course. The disease may progress rapidly and have unfavorable prognosis. Therefore further studies are repuired to improve the outcome.

OBJECTIVE:To analyze the constituents of volatile oil in Artemisia indica from different area of Guangxi, and to compared which with those in Artemisia argyi. METHODS: The volatile oil was extracted from Artemisia indica and Artemisia argyi respectively by steam distillation. The constituents of the volatile oil were identified by GC-MS technology. RESULTS: The yield of the collected volatile oil of Artemisia indica from different area of Guangxi was 0.32%~0.67%, and compared with Artemisia argyi, both were found to contain the following main constituents: eucalyptol, camphor, borneol, germacrene D, caryophyllene, caryophyllene oxide, terpineol, azulene etc. But the content of the same constituents in Artemisia indica varied with different producing area and there was also difference for a certain constituent of the volatile oil. CONCLUSION: The study results serve as a scientific basis for rational use of Artemisia indica from Guangxi.

Objective Corneal endothelial decompensation is caused by many corneal diseases. It often results in severe clinical complications. Endothelial keratoplasty (EK) is a new therapy for corneal endothelial decompensation. This study aimed to investigate a new approach to establishing corneal endothelial decompensation animal model with Descemetorhexis technique in order to better understand the tissue response to EK. Methods Thirty New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups according to different surgical procedures; corneal endothelial cells (CEC), Descemet's membrane and corneal endothelial cells (DM + CEC) as well as Descemet' s stripping with endothelial keratoplasty(DSEK) group and 10 eyes for each. The right eyes of rabbits were as surgery eyes. Other 10 rabbits were as DSEK donors. Corneal transparency, anterior chamber response and graft location were examined once per day for two weeks under the slit lamp. Comeal thickness was measured by ultrasound biomicroscope. Corneal endothelial cells were analyzed using vital staining with alizarin red and trypan blue in 2, 4 and 8 weeks after operation. Results The cornea in DM + CEC group remained opaque throughout the observation period. In CEC and DSEK group, corneal clarity was gradually restored and corneal thickness was significantly less than that in the DM + CEC group during the postoperative 8 weeks. There were significant differences in corneal thickness between the DM + CEC group and CEC group or DSEK group during the postoperative 8 weeks (P <0. 05). The vital staining showed that most Descemetorhexis area was not covered by endothelial cells even 2 months after surgery. Conclusion A new corneal endothelial decompensation model is successfully established for the study of corneal endothelial keratoplasty, which is helpful for understanding the wound-healing of rabbit corneal endothelium after Descemel' s membrane damage.

Objective: To investigate the pharmacokinetics of honokiol in rats. Methods: Honokiol injection was delivered by vein injection to SD rats. The blood samples were gathered at a series of time lags. Honokiol in rat plasma was determined with an RP HPLC method and the data were analyzed with program 3P87. Results: After i v injection of honokiol, concentration time curves were fitted to a 3 compartment model: with halftime of 2.8 min, 11.9 min, and 56.8 min. Conclusion: Honokiol was quickly distributed in rats after i.v. and the concentration decreased rapidly. Our studies provided important referrence to the research on the pharmacodynamics and the pharmaceutics of Honokiol.
