1.Cardiovascular protective effects of soy isoflavone
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2005;9(7):241-243
OBJECTIVE: Estrogen has cardiovascular protective effects while its adverse effects restrain its application in the therapy and prevention of cardiovascular diseases. To find a more effective and safer estrogen replacement becomes a hotspot in cardiovascular pharmaceutical researches. This paper summarized the current research situation on the cardiovascular protective effects of phytoestrogen, soy isoflavone.DATA SOURCES: Relative articles between January 1993 and December 2001 were searched by computer on Medline with the searching words of "isoflavones, atherosclerosis, vasodilation" in English, the language limitation of the articles. Simultaneously, articles between January 1994 and February 2002 were searched by computer on Wangfang Database and Chinese Journal Full Text Database with the searching words of "isoflavones, artherosclerosis, vasodilation(Chinese charcters)" in Chinese, the language limitation of the articles.DATA SELECTION: Literatures with experiments including study group and control group were selected from the data through preliminary screening to eliminate obvious non-randomized experimental studies. The full texts of the residual literatures were searched afterwards for the further judgment of ranincluded in the study. Exclusive criteria: repetitive experimental studies.DATA EXTRACTION: A total of 31 randomized or non-randomized experimental articles regarding the cardiovascular protective effects of soy isoflavone were collected, of which 26 experiments were in accordance with the inclusive criteria and the rest 5 articles were exclude due to repetition of same study.DATA SYNTHESIS: Twenty-six experiments including clinical experiments and animal experiments, which employed in vivo or in vitro two experimental methods after the application of soy isoflavone to observe and evaluate its cardiovascular protective effects. The above two methods had its own merits and shortcomings, of which in vitro experiment was a more common method for the observation.CONCLUSION: There is no adequate evidence that can prove the definite effects of soy isoflavone on the prevention and therapy of cardiovascular diseases in menopausal women, as well as its side effects. Researchers should do more researches on how to master the appropriate dose to make isoflavone reach effective blood concentration, and how to make the therapeutic effects become more beneficial.

Objective To observe the clinical effects of human amniotic membrane as an alternative substrate for wrapping hydroxyapatite ocular prosthesis implants. Methods After enucleation, hydroxyapatite orbital implants wrapped by human amniotic membrane were implanted with four rectus sutured to the implants .Among them, 4 cases were given primary implantation and 3 cases secondary implantation. Results After 8 to 39 week follow-up, it was found that in 6 cases, the eyelids were plump and prosthesis moved well, but one implant was removed because of failure of scleral patch graft for implant exposure. Conclusion The clinical results were satisfactory for ocular prosthesis implantation of hydroxyapatite sphere wrapped by human amniotic membrane, which may be considered as an alternative substrate for ocular prosthesis implants wrapper.

By means of genetic cloning and recombinant techniques, full genome cDNA sequences of rotavirus strain TB-Chen were isolated from an infantile hospitalized with acute gastroenteritis. Nucleotide sequences analyses showed that the full genome of strain TB-Chen contains 18613 nucleotides, encoding 5791 amino acids. Genotyping results showed that the strain TB-Chen belongs to genotype G2P[4]/NSp4[A]. This is the first report on a full genome of Group A rotavirus in China, and has important significance for deep understanding structure and functions of rotaviruses and developing rotavirus vaccines.

Objective To investigate the influence of different decomposed combinations of Simiao Yong’ an Decoction ( four-ingredient health-restoring decoction ) on the extraction rates of liquiritin , hy-peroside and luteoloside .Methods The extraction rates of liquiritin , hyperoside and luteoloside were de-termined with HPLC using a SunfireTMC18 analytical column(4.6mm ×150mm,5μm) in decomposed for-mula of Simiao Yong ’ an Decoction. The mobile phase was composed of aqueous phosphoric acid (0.1%) and acetonitrile using anisocratic elution .The column temperature was 35℃.The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min while the detection wavelength was set at 276 nm(liquiritin)and 350 nm(hyperoside and luteoloside ) .The contents and the extraction rates of liquiritin , hyperoside and luteoloside from the origi-nal and dismantled formula were detected and analyzed .Results Compared with the single herb , the more ingredients it contained , the higher extraction rates of liquiritin , hyperoside and luteoloside .When the whole ingredients were stewed together , the extraction rates of these 3 components reached the peak . Conclusion The different decomposed SimiaoYong ’ an Decoction can significantly improve the extrac-tion rates of liquiritin , hyperoside and luteoloside , which indicated the validity and rationality of com-pound compatibility from the extraction rates of chemical compositions .
