Objective To observe the expressions of Th1 cytokin [interleukin (IL)-12] and Th2 cytokin (IL-4) in gut of the mouse model of postinfcctious irritable bowel syndrome (PI-IBS). Methods Thirty mice were divided into control group (n=8) and model group (n=22,infected with Trichinella spiralis). The weight of the mouse was measured weekly after infection. Visceral sensitivity of colorectal distention in mouse was accessed by abdominal withdrawal reflex (AWR) at 0 and 8 weeks after infection. All mice were sacrificed at the 8th week, and tissues of jejunum, terminal ileum, proximal colon and distal colon were observed for inflammation with HE staining. The mRNA and protein expressions of IL-12 and IL-4 were examined by RT-PCR and Western blotting, respectively. Results Two weeks after infection, body weight was decreased in model group compared with control group ( -1.08%±1.08 % vs 3.09%±1.85%, P<0.05), but there was no significant difference at the 8th week between two groups (P>0.05). Severe inflammation was observed in the gut of mouse 2 weeks after infection, however it was recovered at the 8th week. The score of AWR was higher in model group at 30,45 and 60 mmHg in comparison with control group (P<0.05), whereas the perceptual threshold was lower in model group than in the control group (P<0.05). In comparison with control group, increased expressions of IL-12 mRNA and protein in ileocecum and proximal colon as well as decreased expressions of IL-4 mRNA and protein in all parts of gut were found in model group (P<0.05). Conclusion Th1/Th2 shift may involve in gut of PI-IBS mouse, which provides a new idea for treatment of PI-IBS.

Objective To investigate walking ability of amputees with unilateral transtibial prosthesis. Methods From April to Decem-ber, 2016, 20 unilateral transtibial amputees (patients) and 20 healthy adults (controls) were tested with L test, balance test, 6-minute walk test (6MWT) and 1000 m walking outdoor on various terrain. Results There was no significant difference in time of L test between the am-putees wearing Solid Ankle Cushion Heel (SACH) and Storage Foot (t=0.675, P>0.05). In balance tests, there was no significant difference in the total track length, confidence ellipse area, maximum horizontal deviation and maximum vertical deviation between the patients and the controls (t<0.803, P>0.05). Each parameter was significantly different in 6MWT between them (t>2.774, P<0.01), as well as the time and energy expenditure of outdoor 1000 m walk test (t>4.130, P<0.001). Conclusion The walking ability of the unilateral transtibial ampu-tees wearing prostheses is different from normal people. The transtibial prosthetic feet that the amputees wear may impact their walking abil-ity.

Objective To compare the effect of perineal cleansing with the potassium permanganate or sterile water on mid- stream urine culture. Methods Mid- stream specimens of urine were obtained from inpatients in our hospital between January 2002 and December 2006. All these patients may be diag-nosed as urinary tract infection. The urine specimens were divided into the potassium permanganate group (n=1572, the sterilization group) and the sterile water group (n=544). The change of positive and contami-nation rate of mid-stream urine culture from the specimens was observed. More than two kinds of germs in one urine specimen were defined as contamination. Results 830 patients with urinary tract infection had been enrolled. 2116 specimens were collected and 531 strains of causative organism were detected. The positive rate of the sterilization group and the sterile water group was 20.04% and 39.71%, respectively, and such difference was significant. The rate of identical causative organism from the same patient whose spec-imen was cultivated twice in the sterilization group was 0.012% and the rate was 0.105% in the sterile water group. The difference was significant. The rate of different or one kind of causative organism from the same patient whose specimen was cultivated twice in these two groups hadn't significant deviation. The contami-nation rate of the sterilization group (0.028%) was significantly higher than that of the sterile water group (0.007%). Conclusions Perineal cleansing with sterile water can reduce the false negative rate of mid-stream urine culture without increasing the contamination rate. Potassium permanganate sterilization is re-sponsible for the high false-negative in mid-stream urine culture.

Objective To observe the pathologic changes of the rabbit sciatic nerves after the exposure of high intensity ultrasound(HIU) (7.1 MHz,45.86 W/cm2)and to establish the experimental base for protection of the nerves near the organs and tissues treated with HIU. Methods The rabbit sciatic nerves were exposed to HIU of different doses as defined by the action time of the ultrsound(0, 15, 25 and 50 seconds, respectively); The Pathological changes of the nerves were observed at different times after exposed to HIU(1 week,2 weeks,1 month,3 months and 6 months). Results In 0 s (45.86 W/cm2?0 s)group, no significant pathological changes were observed. In 15 s(45.86 W/cm2?15 s) group, slight deformation of the myelin sheath were observed and recovery took place at 2 weeks. In 25 s (45.86 W /cm2?25 s) group, the nerves became broken partly and recovered at 3 months. In 50 s(45.86 W/cm2?50 s) group, great part of the nerves got coagulation necrosis and had not recovered at 6 months. Conclusion The larger the dosage of HIU, the higher degree the injury of the sciatic nerve, the more difficult the nerves to get repaired.
