2?l 10% ricin were injected into the pelvic nerve of cats. After 3~5 survival days 20% HRP solution was injected into the ipsilateral lateral parabrachial nucleus, 2~3 days later the animals were perfused with paraformaldehyde and glutaraldehyde, the brain and spinal cord were removed and processed for light and electron microscopy. It was confirmed that the primary afferent terminals (degenerated) of pelvic nerve formed axo-dendritic and axo-somatic synapses with the retrograde labelled neurons projected to the lateral parabrachial nucleus which were located in the dorsal commissure nucleus (DCN), intermediolateral nucleus (IML) and lamina Ⅰ of sacral spinal cord. Hence, the secondary afferent pathway of pelvic visceral sensation, as. indicated at the ultrastructural level, might originate from DCN, IML and lamina Ⅰ of sacral spinal cord and project to the lateral parabrachial nucleus.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
The Nissl and Golgi staining methods and electron microscopy were u(?)o investigate the architecture of dorsal commissure nucleus (DCN) of the sacral spinal cord in cat. A morphologically specific nucleus could be identified in the medial part of the lamina Ⅵ of dorsal horn. The nucleus located beside the dorsal funiculus at the lumbar level and gradually moved toward the midline of the dorsal gray commissure in the ventromedial direction as the dorsal gray commissure enlarged at the segments S_(1-2) and two ellipsoid nuclei was formed at the two sides of the midline. A large triangular nucleus was gradually formed by fusion of the two nuclei at S_3-Co_1. Golgi stain positive neurons could be classified into three types: (1) small-triangular neurons (60%); (2) fusiform neurons (30%); (3) oval and irregular neurons (10%). The cell organells of most neurons were plentiful. The cell nucleus was irregular and often with deep invaginations. A large number of free ribosomes and saccules could be found in the canals formed by the nuclear invagination. There were axo-dentritic, axo-axonic, axo-somatic synaptic contacts in the DCN with percentages of 89%, 6%, and 5% respectively. The serial synapse, axo-spinous synapse and crest synapses could also be found.

Objective To investigate the protective effects of erythropoietin (EPO) on myocardium injury after sepsis in rats in order to clarify the mechanisms. Methods The rat models of sepsis were produced by cecal ligation and perforation method (CLP).Ninty-six healthy SD rats were randomly (random number) divided into 3 groups:the sham operation group (Sham group,n =32),the sepsis group (CLP group,n =32),and the EPO treatment group (EPO group,n =32) treated with EPO 1000 IU/kg intraperitoneal injection after the CLP.The observation intervals were set at 3 h,6 h,12 h and 24 h after the surgery. The cardiac hemodynamics of the CLP group were measured.Plasma levels of inflammatory factors and myocardial enzyme indicators were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) ; Membrane potential levels of chondriosome of myocardial cells, cell apoptosis rates and expressions of nuclear factor-κB p65 of myocardium tissue were detected by flow cytometer; Then the pathological change of myocardium with HE staining was observed under light microscopy. Results (1) Compared with the CLP group, left ventricle systolic pressure (LVSP),left ventricle diastolic end pressure (LVEDP),the maximum rate of left ventricle rise and fall (+ dp/dtmax and-dp/dtmax) in the EPO group improved (P <0.05,P<0.01); (2) Compared with the Sham operation group, plasma levels of tumor necrosis factoralpha (TNF-α),interleukin-6 (IL-6),C-reactive protein (CRP),cardiac troponin-I (cTNI),creatine kinase (CK),lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and glutamine-oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) in the CLP group increased at each interval (P < 0.05),and those biomarkers in the EPO group were lower than those in the CLP group (P < 0.05) ; On the contrary, plasma level of anti-inflammatory factor IL-10 in EPO group was higher than that in the CLP group (P < 0.01) ; (3) Compared with the Sham operation group, the cell apoptosis rates in the CLP group increased significantly (P < 0.01),and it decreased obviously in the EPO group (P < 0.01); (4) Compared with the Sham group, membrane potential levels of chondriosome of myocardial cell in the CLP group decreased (P <0.01),while it increased in the EPO group in comparison with the CLP group (P < 0.01) ; (5) Pathological changes of myocardium after the CLP could be lessened by the EPO treatment. Conclusions EPO may increase membrane potential levels of chondriosome and decrease the apoptosis rates of myocardial cell in rats after sepsis, and it may reduced the production of inflammatory factors to protect the myocardial cell by down-regulating NF-κB p65.Both increased membrane potential level of chonriosome and decreased inflammatory factor may implicate in myocardium protection thereby improving cardiac function after sepsis.

Objective To detect and investigate the expression and the effect of Prohibitin (PHB) in rats with renal interstitial fibrosis (RIF) induced by unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) .Methods Forty-eight Wistar male rats (6-weeks-old) were randomly assigned into 2 groups,sham-operated and model group. The model group rats were subjected to left ureteral ligation after anesthesia and the sham-operated group rats were subjected to sham operation.Six rats were killed 7,14,21,28 days after operation respectively. The renal tissues were collected. The index of RIF was calculated. The expressions of mRNA and protein of PHB were assayed by real time polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemistry. Results Compared with sham-operation group,at each time point, the model group had significantly increased index of RIF (P < 0.01) and the obstruction for a longer period showed the higher index; the model group had significantly decreased expression of mRNA and protein of PHB (P < 0.01) and the obstruction for a longer period showed the lower expression; the model group had significantly increased expression of mRNA and protein of TGF-β1 (P < 0.01) and the obstruction for a longer period showed the higher expression.Correlation analysis showed that the index of RIF was negatively correlated with FHB (γ = -0.825) and positively correlated with TGF-β1 (γ = 0.995),while there was a positive correlation between PHB and TGF-β1 (γ = -0.786).Conclusions The lower expression of PHB in renal tissue of UUO rats might suggest that it play an important role in RIF.
