Objective To explore the DNA damage in the bone-marrow cells of the mice exposed to the low level of gaseous benzene. Methods 615 mice were divided into 4 groups randomly, 6 in each: the control group, benzene exposed group, group immited by L615K lymphocyte cell, group immited by L615K lymphocyte cell and benzene exposed in combination. Benzene was exposed at the level of 1 mg/m3, 6 h per day for 10 days. SCGE was used to detect the DNA damage in the bone-marrow cells of the mice. Results Compared with the control, the DNA damage were significantly severe in the other 3 groups. But the DNA damage of the group immited by L615K lymphocyte cell and benzene exposed in combination was significantly lower than that of the group immited by L615K lymphocyte cell. The spleen and liver indexes were higher in the two groups immited by L615K lymphocyte cell and immited by L615K lymphocyte cell plus benzene exposed compared with the control group. Conclusion Benzene exposure at the low level can induce the DNA damage in the bone-marrow cells of the mice, but for those lymphatic leukemia mice, benzene exposure at the low level may inhibit this kind of damage, to elucidate the mechanism, further studies needs to be done.

Objective To investigate the involvement of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)system and hypertrophy related genes in myocardial remodeling mechanism of patients with congestive heart failure(CHF).Methods Thirty-nine patients of mitral valve disease with CHF were randomly selected and 30 cases of healthy persons were included as controls.Cardiac function parameters were measured by echocardiography.Concentration of AngⅡ in plasma and myocardial tissues were determined by radio immunoassay.Immunoprecipitation was used to assay the protein expression and phosphorylation of c-jun NH2-terminal kinase(JNK),extracellular signal regulated kinase(ERK),P 38- mitogen-activated protein kinase(P 38-MAPK)in myocardial tissues;protein expression of c-myc,c-myb,c-jun was also determined by immunoprecipitation. Results Compared to the control group, the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 was obvious in heart function class Ⅱ group(P0.05);phosphorylation of JNK was obvious in CHF groups(P0.05);there was no expression in control group. Conclusion MAPK activated by renin angiotensin system may play an important role by causing the protein expression of c-myc,c-myb,c-jun in myocardial remodeling in patients with CHF.

Objective To investigate the different impacts of the components of metabolic syndrome (MS) on cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors and Framingham risk value (FRV) in newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients without coronary heart disease (CHD).Methods A total of 212 newly-diagnosed T2DM patients was divided into three groups based on the components of MS,including body mass index (BMI),triglyceride (TG),high density lipoproteins cholesterol (HDL-C),and mean arterial pressure (MAP) tertile, respectively. The general CVD risk factors [smoking,BMI,TG,HDL-C,total cholesterol (TC),low density lipoproteins cholesterol (LDL-C),HbA1 C,homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR),and FRV] were compared among the groups.Logistic regression analysis was used to observe the different impact of MS components on CVD risk. Results With the increasing of BMI,TG and MAP tertiles, all the CVD risk factors and the ratio of FRV middle-risk group or high-risk group had the tendency of augmentation. With the increasing of HDL-C tertiles, all the CVD risk factors and the ratio of FRV middle-risk group or high-risk group was in downtrend.Binary logistic regression analysis indicted that BMI,systolic pressure, diastolic pressure,HbA1 c and TG were risk factors of FRV non-low-risk group (middle-risk and high-risk groups),HDL-C was the protective factor. The odds ratios (ORs) of BMI,systolic pressure, diastolic pressure,HbA1 c,TG and HDL-C were 2.794 (95% CI:2.390-2.408),2.601 (95 % CI:1.974-3.701),1.476 (95 % CI:1.231-2.048),2.964 (95 % CI:1.925-3.282),1.464(95% CI:0.934-2.294),and 0.732(95% CI:0.023-0.962),respectively.Logistic stepwise regression analysis indicated that systolic pressure,BMI,HbA1 C,and HDL-C were entered into the regression equation, and the partial regression coefficient was 0.784,1.213,1.679,and-0.854,respectively (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).Conclusions All the components of MS in newly-diagnosed T2DM were correlated with CVD risk factors. However, they should be weighed differently.

Objective To compare the diagnostic value of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) versus intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) for suspected common bile duct stones (CBDS).Methods 324 patients with suspected CBDS who were admitted to the Hepatobiliary Pancreatic Surgery Department of Shaoxing People's Hospital between June 2010 and June 2014 were retrospectively studied.Either EUS or IOC was used and the diagnostic value of these two imaging modalities was compared. Results The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of IOC in diagnosing suspected CBDS were 90.6%, 98.4%, 9.5% and 97.7% respectively. Its consistency rate was 96.9%.The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of EUS in diagnosing suspected CBDS were 97.1%, 100%, 100% and 99.1% respectively. Its consistency rate was 99.3%.Conclusions In diagnosing suspected CBDS, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of EUS were significantly higher than IOC.When compared with IOC, EUS was more sensitive to detect occult CBDS and avoided unnecessary ERCP or bile duct exploration.Patients with negative EUS were less likely to have retained CBDS.
