6.Lysyal oxidase propeptide and tumor
Journal of International Oncology 2013;40(9):646-648
Lysyal oxidase (LOX),a cooper dependent monoamine oxidase, can stabilize the extracellular matrix and is closely related to the tumor cell differentiation, vicious transformation and invasiveness.LOX is secreted into extracellular, and it is resolved into a small fragment by sol protease, which is lysyal oxidase propeptide (LOX-PP).According to research,LOX-PP has its own structure and physiological functions, which can inhibit the growth of tumor cells.LOX-PP also plays a significant role in the generation and progression of tumor, which is likely to be a new therapeutic target.
7.The role of mesenchymal stem cells in cancer drug resistance
Cancer Research and Clinic 2013;25(12):850-852
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) possess an innate ability for self-renewal and can differentiate into multiple cell types.MSC have been used in cell-based therapy in various disease conditions including tumors. However,as MSC therapy gained popularity among practitioners and rescarchers, there have been reports on thre adverse effects of MSC especially in the context of tumor modulation and malignant transformation.Recent studies have shown that MSC also play an important role in the resistance to various anti-cancer drugs. This review provides an overview of the functional properties of MSC in cancer drug resistance.
8.Role of calcium signaling in neoplasms invasion and migration
Journal of International Oncology 2014;41(3):161-164
Intracellular calcium is one of the crucial signalings that modulate various physiological and pathological processes.Abnormal calcium signaling is closely associated with invasion and migration of neoplasms.Calcium regulates focal adhesion turnover, cytoskeletal reorganization and other processes about tumor cell movement through contacting with multiple downstream proteins, such as calpain,PYK2 and S100 protein family.Several calcium entry channels including store-operated calcium channels and transient receptor potential channels participate in the invasion and migration of tumor cells.Pathological calcium signaling may be a potential target in anti-invasion and anti-migration therapy.
9.Prevention and treatment of invasive fungal infection in preterm infants
Chinese Pediatric Emergency Medicine 2013;20(6):570-574
Invasive fungal infection is an important cause of mortality and morbidity in preterm infants.Extremely preterm and extremely low birth weight infants are at highest risk because of the intensive and invasive nature of the care that these infants receive. How to prevent and treat the invasive fungal infection in preterm infants has become a new hot spot in the neonatologists. This review focused the progress on treatment and prevention of invasive fungal infections in preterm infants.
