3.Effects of pretreatment with extract of Ginkgo Biloba on tourniquet-induced ischemia-reperfusion injury to the limb
Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2009;29(9):822-824
Objective To investigate the effects of preconditioning with extract of Ginkgo Biloba (EGB) on the tourniquet-induced ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury to the limb. Methods Forty ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ patients aged 17-64 yr weighing 46-72 kg undergoing lower limb operation under combined spinal-epidural anesthesia (CSEA) were randomly divided into 2 groups (n = 20 each) : group A control and group B EGB. CSEA was performed at L2,3 or L3,4 interspace. The height of sensory block was kept below T10. Group B received EGB 0.3 mg/kg in 100 ml normal saline (NS) injected over 20 min via an intravenous line in the forearm as soon as the tourniquet was inflated while control group received plain NS 100 ml without EGB. Venous blood samples were obtained before tourniquet was inflated (To baseline) and at 5, 10, 20 min after tourniquet was released (T_1 , T_2, T_3) for measurement of blood lactate and MDA concentrations and SOD activity. BP (SP, DP) and HR were continuously monitored and recorded at the above time points. Results In control group DP and SOD activity were significantly decreased while blood lactate and MDA concentrations were significantly increased after tourniquet release as compared with the baseline values before tourniquet was inflated. In EGB group there was no significant change in DP, blood lactate and MDA concentrations and SOD activity after tourniquet was released as compared with the baseline. Conclusion Pretreatment with EGB can protect against tourniquet-induced I/R injury to the limb.
4.Research status for locoregional recurrence of breast cancer after mastectomy
Journal of International Oncology 2013;(1):39-43
Although locoregional recurrence (LRR) after mastectomy is regarded as a signal of disease progression, but it is different from distant metastasis. Some patients could have better prognosis and benefit from salvage treatments, especially for patients with isolated LRR.Time to recurrence, site of recurrence and number of recurrent nodules have great influence on the prognosis of patients with LRR.For suited patients with LRR,surgical resection and endocrine therapy are valuable in suitable cases, but the role of chemotherapy still need further study.

Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2013;44(10):1323-1327
Objective: To analyze the genetic polymorphism and relationship of Sophora alopecuroides from Ningxia, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolian in China, and to offer some information for the domestication and protection of wild S. alopecuroides germplasms. Methods: ISSR primers were used to analyze the genetic diversity of 22 populations of S. alopecuroides. Cluster analysis of the unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic average (UPGMA) and principal component analysis (PCA) were carried out based on the molecular data obtained, and a dendrogram was constructed. Results: Totally 433 alleles were amplified using the 51 ISSR primers. The number of allels in per primer range was 5-12, with an average of 8.49. The average percentage of polymorphic loci (PPB) was 93.30%. The Nei's gene diversity (H) and Shannon's information index (I) were 0.3351 and 0.4998, respectively. The genetic distances range was 0.1736-0.6502. Conclusion: The genetic polymorphism among 22 populations of S. alopecuroide is relatively abundant and there are no direct relationship between genetic distance and geographical distribution in them.
8.Optimizing treatment of biologics for ankylosing spondylitis
Chinese Journal of Rheumatology 2021;25(2):90-96
Objective:The current evidence suggests that tumor necrosis factor-inhibitor (TNFi) treatment can be used to achieve clinical remission or low disease activity in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). After achieving remission / low disease activity, however, the follow-up treatment options are unclear. The purpose of this review is to conduct an extensive and systematic literature review of the studies conducted from September 2014 to July 2020 to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of tapering of biological agents. Methods:After searching for the related papers and abstracts and applying inclusion/exclusion criteria, a structured extraction process was used to include the studies into this study. Results:A total of 13/93 studies were included into the analysis of the tapering of biological agents in AS patients, in which 7/13 adopted the dose reduction regimen, 3/13 adopted the extended interval between doses regimen, and 5/13 did not provide or formulate the detailed reduction regimen. We summarized the feasibility of TNFi tapering schemes in the published studies and summarized the tapering rules. Only one study showed that reduced TNFi levels worsened the quality of life and resulted in a relapse within 12 months. Conclusion:More research is needed to understand the long-term effects of these strategies on efficacy, safety, and cost in the treatment of AS.
