1.The relationship and clinical significance of secretory phospholipase A2 and lysophosphatidic acid in multiple sclerosis

Objective To explore the levels of secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) and lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) in blood and cerebrospinal fluid of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), and to explore the relationship between the levels of these inflammatory biomarkers and disease activity of MS. Methods Blood samples were collected from 21 MS patients of acute period (acute period of MS group), 20 MS patients of remitting period (remitting period of MS group) and 21 patients with non inflammatory and vascular neurologic disease (control group). The levels of sPLA2 and LPA in blood and cerebrospinal fluid were measured and compared. Results The levels of sPLA2 and LPA in blood and cerebrospinal fluid before treatment in acute period of MS group were significantly higher than those in remitting period of MS group (P<0.01) and in control group (P<0.01). The levels of sPLA2 and LPA in blood and cerebrospinal fluid after treatment were significantly lower than those before treatment in acute period of MS group (P<0.01). The levels of sPLA2 and LPA in blood before and after treatment had correlations in acute period of MS group (r=0.962, P=0.000;r=0.848, P=0.000). The levels of sPLA2 and LPA in cerebrospinal fluid before and after treatment had correlations in the acute period group (r=0.968, P=0.000;r=0.850, P=0.000). Conclusions The levels of sPLA2 and LPA in blood and cerebrospinal fluid may be used as inflammatory biomarkers for disease activity in MS patients.
2.Analysis of global research hotspots in the field of pediatrics based on Essential Science Indicators and its revelation

Objective:To analyze the global research hotspots in the field of pediatrics based on the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database and explore the inspiration to domestic editors and pediatrics researchers.Methods:The journal distribution, country (region) distribution, cooperation, organization distribution, funding, publication language, hot topic words and other data of highly cited papers in the field of pediatrics in ESI database were collected and analyzed.Results:A total of 682 highly cited pediatrics papers were collected from 77 pediatrics journals included in Science Citation Index(SCI). Most of the highly cited pediatrics papers (182) were found to be published in Pediatrics.All 682 paper were published in English and frequently, characterized by multiple authors, institutions and fund support.Of 682 highly cited pediatrics papers, 435 papers were published in the United States(the first), 123 papers in England(the second) and 86 paper in Canada(the third). Novel coronavirus pneumonia, coronavirus, SARS coronavirus, autism and multiple system inflammatory syndrome are the main frontiers of global pediatric research at present.Specifically, focal pediatric system diseases mainly include respiratory system diseases, digestive system diseases, cardiovascular diseases, etc. Conclusions:ESI-based analysis of global research hotspots in the field of pediatrics provides reference materials for domestic and foreign pediatrics researchers to understand the global academic frontiers and development trends in the field of pediatrics and select topics for future scientific research.More importantly, this analysis can help domestic editors of pediatrics journals to plan topics and organize hot papers, so as to improve the academic quality and international influence of the journals.
3.Biocompatibility of bone marrow mesenchymal cells on polyetheretherketone and titanium surfaces in vitro

Objective:
To compare the in vitro biocompatibility of bone marrow mesenchymal cells on polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and titanium (Ti) surfaces.
Methods :
PEEK and Ti foils with thicknesses of 1 mm and diameters of 10 mm were prepared. First, bone marrow mesenchymal cells were separated and purified by the whole bone marrow adherent culture method in vitro. Then, osteogenesis-induced bone marrow mesenchymal cells were cultivated on the surfaces of the PEEK and Ti foils. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the Alamar Blue test, an alkaline phosphatase (ALP) kit and Alizarin Red staining were used to analyze calcium nodules and compare the adhesion, proliferation and osteogenic differentiation ability of bone marrow mesenchymal cells on the surfaces of the PEEK and Ti foils.
Results :
① The morphology of the bone marrow mesenchymal cells cultured on the PEEK and Ti foils at 1 h, 4 h and 24 h showed no significant differences. ② In the 1 h, 3 h, 1 d and 3 d cultures of the bone marrow mesenchymal cells inoculated on the surfaces of the foils, the number of living cells in the PEEK group was greater than that in the Ti group (P < 0.05). ③ In the 7 d and 14 d osteogenesis-induced cultures of the inoculated bone marrow mesenchymal cells, the ALP activity of the PEEK group cells was significantly greater than that of the Ti group cells (P < 0.05). ④ Semiquantitative analysis after Alizarin Red staining showed that the mineralization degree of the bone marrow mesenchymal cells induced by osteoblasts was greater in the PEEK group than in the Ti group (P < 0.05).
Conclusion
PEEK has better in vitro biocompatibility than Ti and can better promote cell adhesion, proliferation and osteogenic differentiation compared with Ti, and so it is expected to become a new dental implant material.
