ObjectiveTo explore the psychological characteristics of personality of the nine constitutions in Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),so as to enrich and develop the theory related with constitution in TCM.MethodsFrom May 2009 to June 2009,540 college students from two universities in Beijing were investigated by cross-sectional survey.Cluster sampling method was adopted and the constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaire(CCMQ) and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Short Scale for Chinese (EPQ-RSC) was used.Results ①In extraversion-introversion dimension,Gentleness type had the highest score(56.52 ± 8.48) and Qi-depression type had the lowest score (45.88 ± 11.13 ).The scores of seven pathological constitutions (Qi-deficiency type,Yang-deficiency type,Phlegm-wetness type,Wet-heat type,Blood-stasis type,Qi-depression type and Special diathesis type) were significantly lower than the score of Gentleness type(P＜0.01 ).In neuroticism dimension,Qi-de-pression type had the highest score (59.31 ± 9.70) and Gentleness type had the lowest score (44.08 ± 8.55 ).There were significant differences (P ＜ 0.01 )between the score of Gentleness type and the scores of Qi-deficiency type,Yin-deficiency type,Wet-heat type,Blood-stasis type and Qi-depression type.In psychoticism dimension,there were no significant differences between the score of Gentleness type and the scores of eight pathological constitutions.② Gentleness type was used as control,multivariate logistic regression analysis of psychological characteristics of personality of the eight pathological constitutions showed that the extraversion-introversion dimension was the meaningful relation factor of Qi-deficiency type,Yang-deficiency type,Phlegm-wetness type,Wet-heat type,Blood-stasis type,Qi-depression type and Special diathesis type.The neuroticism dimension was the meaningful relation factor of Qi-deficiency type,Yin-deficiency type,Phlegm-wetness type,Wet-heat type,Blood-stasis type,Qidepression type and Special diathesis type.ConclusionPeople with nine different constitutional types in TCM have shown corresponding psychological characteristics of personality.This study illustrates that nine constitutions in TCM are related to psychological characteristics of personality.

Objective To predict the B cell epitopes for S protein of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus. Methods Based on SARS coronavirus genome sequence and the analysis of the flexible regions of secondary structure for S protein, the B cell epitopes for S protein were predicted by methods of Kyte Doolittle hydrophilicity plot, Emini, and Jameson Wolf. Results The computer predicted most possible epitopes for S protein were located within or nearby its N terminal No. 91-98, 1121-1153 and 185-193. The N terminal No. 1050-1059, 752-765, 41-50, 666-674, 264-287, 340-348, 408-416, and 424-439 may be the possible B cell epitopes. Conclusion Prediction of the B cell epitopes for the S protein based on multiple parameters is helpful for the identification of B cell epitopes using experimental methods.

Objective:To optimize the extraction parameters for the water extract of Tangganjian concentrated pills .Methods:U-sing the content of paeoniflorin and extraction yield as the evaluation indices .An HPLC was used to determine the content of peoniflorin in the extract, and the chromatographic conditions were as follows: a WondaSil C18 chromatographic column (250 mm ×4.6 mm, 5μm), the mobile phase was acetonitrile-0.1%phosphoric acid solution (16∶84) with a flow rate of 1 ml· min-1, the column tem-perature was 30℃and the detection wavelength was 230 nm.The amount of water , extraction time and extraction times were regarded as the influencing factors ,an orthogonal design was adopted to develop the analysis of variance for extraction parameters for water ex -tract.Results:The optimal extraction process was as follows:adding 12-fold amount of water and extracting 3 times with 1 h for each time.Conclusion:The optimum extraction process is reasonable , stable and feasible, which provides experimental basis for the extrac-tion process of Tangganjian concentrated pills .

ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between diet habits and constitution type of 8448adults from 9 provinces and municipalities of China.MethodsA total of 8448 participants from Jiangsu,Anhui,Gansu,Qinghai,Fujian,Beijing,Jilin,Jiangxi and Henan Province were enrolled in this study.The clinical information of constitution type,diet habits and demographic characteristics was collected.Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between diet habits and constitution type.ResultsLogistic regression analysis showed that gentleness type and Qi-deficiency were correlated with sweet food ( OR =1.22,P ＜ 0.05 ). There was a significantly positive correlation between Yangdeficiency and hot food intake ( OR =2.89,P ＜ 0.05 ),as well as between Yin-deficiency and cold food intake ( OR =1.56,P ＜ 0.05).Phlegm-wetness was mainly caused by fatty food consumption ( OR =2.07,P ＜ 0.05 ).Barbecue food was positively correlated with Wet-heat type ( OR =1.64,P ＜ 0.05 ),Bloodstasis type ( OR =1.37,P ＜ 0.05 ),and Qi-depression type ( OR =1.35,P ＜ 0.05 ).Special diathesis type was related to dietary preference of sweet food ( OR =1.29,P ＜ 0.05 ).ConclusionDifferent type of constitution may be related to specific lifestyle or diet habits,and diet habit might play a positive role in Gentleness type or health condition.

Object To investigate the features of health related quality of life ( HRQOL) among elderly hypertensive patients with different body mass index (BMI) so s to provide evidence for the health promotion of hypertensive. Methods A cross-sectional survey of health status data from a population of 1281 elderly hypertensive patients from Beijing and 8 provinces of China ( Jiangsu, Anhui, Gansu, Qinghai, Fujian, Jilin, Jiangxi, and Henan) was made in the study. Analysis of variance was applied to compare the differences in HRQOL of elderly hypertensive patients in different BMI categories. Results For the elderly hypertensive patients with low body mass index, the scores of 8 dimensions and scores in physical component summary (PCS) and mental component summary( MCS) of SF-36 were the lowest;except the role-emotional(RE) dimension,the scores of other 7 dimensions,PCS and MCS were significantly different(PF,RP,BP,GH,VT,MH, P<0.01; SF,PCS,MCS, P<0.01). Comparing the scores between any two groups in PCS, the scores of patients with low body mass index were significantly lower than normal weight group (62.30 ± 22. 12 vs72.40 ±20.86, P<0.05) .overweight group (62.30 ± 22.12 vs 74.97 ± 19.20, P<0.05 ) and obese group (62.30 ± 22.12 vs 74.57 ± 19. 22, P < 0.05 ). Comparing the scores between any two groups in MCS,the scores of patients with low body mass index were significantly lower than normal weight group (68. 81 ± 20. 48 vs 74. 70 ± 20.41, P < 0. 05), overweight group (68. 81 ± 20. 48 vs 78.08 ±18.23, P<0.05) and obese group (68.81 ±20.48 vs 78. 69 ± 17.77, P<0.05); the score of normal weight group was significantly lower than the overweight group (74. 70 ±20. 41vs 78. 08 ±18.23, P<0.05). Gender Stratification showed that females with low body mass index had worse HRQOL than males. Conclusion The HRQOL of elderly hypertensive patients with low body mass index is significantly lower than normal weight patients, overweight patients and obese patients, the health promotion of elderly hypertensive patients with low body mass index should be paid more attentions, especially females with low body mass index.

Objective:To investigate the validity and the outcome of a new surgery method that utilizes lateral great toe flap to decoratively reconstruct the thumb pulp loss.Methods:From Jan.2009 to Jan. 2014 , 22 cases with unilateral thumb pulp defect were included, for whom, lateral great toe flap was de-ployed to reconstruct the thumb.Blood circulation was re-established by the anastomosis of the digital vessels of toes and fingers in 18 cases, the other 4 cases were conducted by a dorsal metatarsal artery and vein anastomosed to the deep branch of the radial artery and the dorsal metacarpal vein respectively; as for the nerve repair, toe-to-finger digital nerve anastomosis was performed.The donor sites were covered by full-thickness inguinal skin grafts.Results:All the 22 flaps survived without complications.With 6 to 12 months follow-up, the surviving fingers all presented aesthetically pleasant appearance with vivid loops and whorls.Normal functions like sweating were restored as well, and the two-point-discrimination ranged 3.0 to 6.0 mm (4.2 mm in average).The skin grafts to the donor sites healed uneventfully, the appearance and functions of the feet were unaffected.Conclusion: Lateral toe flap should be the first-line choice for reconstructing thumb defect, as it conveniently restores both functions and outlook.

Objective To explore the efficacy and the safety of clinical trials of pemetrexed combined with carboplatin and gemcitabine with carboplatin in treating advanced NSCLC of the elderly patients.Methods A total of one hundred and twenty-eight elderly patients with advanced NSCLC were randomly divided into two groups(n=64).The PC group in which patients were treated with pemetrexed combined with carboplatin,and the GC group in which patients were treated with gemcitabine combined with carboplatin.The effects and the safety were assessed by the following indexes, treatment efficiency,side effects,LCSS. Results The treatment efficiency of the PC group and the GC group were 34.38% and 31.25% after chemotherapy.The difference was no statistically significant between two groups.The difference of LCSS was no statistically significant between two groups.Except hair loss,the incidences of nausea and vomiting,leukopenia,thrombocytopenia and neurotoxicity (grade III-IV )in the PC group (6.25%,3.13%,4.67%,7.81%)were significant lower than those in the GC group(17.18%,20.31%,15.63%,18.75%)(P<0.05).The 1-year and 2-year survival rates of the PC and GC groups were 46.2% VS 46.8% and 13.3% VS 12.5%,respectively,with a median survival of 12.1 VS 1 1.3 months,without a statistically significant difference between two groups.Conclusion PC and GC show similar efficacy for elderly NSCLC patients,however,the toxicities in PC patients are lower than those in GC patients.Thus,pemetrexed combined with carboplatin is an effective therapeutic regimen for advanced NSCLC in elderly patients.

Objective To investigate the accuracy and the consistency with pathological diagnosis of confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) in real-time diagnosis of gastric malignancy and precancerous diseases.MethodsFrom January 2010 to March 2011, the out-patients and hospitalized patients of suspected gastric malignancy or precancerous diseases in Shanghai Ruijin Hospital were screened and undergone confocal laser endomicroscopy.Fluorescein sodium was used as fluorescent agent in the examination.A four-tiered diagnostic system was applied in the real time diagnosis with CLE images, and targeted biopsy was performed accordingly. Surgery was performed in CLE diagnosed or highly malignancy suspected patients.The diagnosis of common endoscopy, CLE and pathology was reviewed.ResultsA total of 160 patients were enrolled in this study, of those one patient withdrew because of fluorescin allergy and the rest 159 patients completed the CLE examination.A total of 194 lesions were inspected, among them, 130 cases each with one lesion, 23 cases each with two lesions and 6 cases each with three lesions.Overall accuracy rate of CLE was 93.3％ (181/194).And the sensitivity and specificity of CLE in gastric malignancy diagnosis was 93.6 ％ and 99.3 ％ respectively.Ideal correlation was identified between confocal laser endomicroscopy and final pathology results (Kappa=0.876).The incidence of marked fluorescin-related adverse events was only 0.6％ (1/160). ConclusionsCLE is consistent with histopathology and is helpful to make accurate diagnosis of gastric malignancy and precancerous diseases.It is important in early diagnosis of gastric malignancy and helps to avoid misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis.

Objective To explore the effects of application calcitonin gene related peptide(CGRP) in cisterna magna on cerebral vasospasm after experimental subarachnoid hemorrhage (subarachnoid hemorrhage,SAH) in rat models.Methods 64 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups.Group A was normal control group.After the subarachnoid hemorrhage models were established,group B,C,D were given normal saline,CGRP and adenovirus CGRP through cisterna magna respectively.White blood cells in cerebrospinal fluid were detected by automatic blood analyzer,CGRP activity was detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay,circulating endothelial cells were observed through laser scanning confocal microscope and parietal cortex regional cerebral blood flow were observed by laser doppler flowmeter.Basilar artery vasospasm and arterial blood gas analysis were detected by digital subtraction angiography and blood gas analyzer respectively.Results Before and after administration,there were no statistical differences in white blood cells and artery blood gas among the 4 groups (both P＞ 0.05).After administration 48 h,compared with group A,concentrations of CGRP in cerebrospinal fluid group B (0.006±0.002) did not increase (P＞0.05),but increased 200 times in Group C ((1.160±0.170) nmol/L,P＜0.05)and nearly 400 times in group D ((2.071±0.412) nmol/L,P＜0.05).Peripheral blood circulating endothelial cells count:after administration 48 h,group C((5.56±0.61) ind/0.9 μL) was less than in group B((9.94± 0.73) ind/0.9 μL).Group D((5.16±0.61) ind/0.9 μL) was less than group C(P＜0.01).Regional cerebral blood flow:after administration,compared with group B,cerebral blood flow of group C and group D increased,and the differences were both statistically significant (P＜0.01).Basilar artery diameter was detected after administration 12 h,group D ((1.000±0.025) mm) was 13％ bigger than group B ((0.670±0.028)mm,P＜0.05),3％ bigger than group C ((0.900±0.023) mm) (P＞0.05).Conclusion Cerebral vasospasm after SAH can be effectively improved by administration CGRP in cisterna magna.Adenovirus CGRP effect is better than CGRP.

Objective To study an improved automated method for isolation and purification of large amounts of human pancreatic islets from large mammals,and try to create conditions for preparation and isolation of large amounts of human islets.Methods An improved automated system was used to isolate and purify panreatic islets of sogs.Under the general anaesthesia(GA) condition,the pancreas of the dogs was via in situ vascular perfused using cold HC-A solution and then removed en bloc with duodenum and spleen.Then they were placed in cold UW aolutian.Intraductal collagenase-Ⅴ and pefabloc(4 ℃) was delivered with controlled perfusion.lslets were dissociated in system of Ricordi Chamber and purified islets separated with Ficoll density gradient centrifugation under controlled temperature.Digestion time,islets remaining trapped in exocrine tissue,final islet purity,insulin and C-pep secretory activity,and islet recovery were observed.The purified islets were observed under light microscope and electronic microscope after 24 h culture.Results The digestion time rate was(25.0?6.0) min,islets remaining trapped in exocrine tissue was(9.4?2.4)%,final islet purify rate was(89.7?3.5)%,islet recovery after digestion was(17.2?3.6)?104 IEQ/pancreas.Islet recovery after purification was(8.3?2.0)?104IEQ/pancreas.Insulin and C-pep secretory activity of the purified islets and their ultrastructure after 24 h culture were ideal.Conclusions Our improved automated method and facilities for isolation of canine pancreatic islets are reliable,The morphology and function of the procured islets are excellent and they can foreseeably be used for large-scale preparation of huma islets for clinical use.
