1.Study on Methods for Comprehensive Assessment on Sanitary Quality of Public Places and Their Application

Objective To avoid the invalid assessment and erroneous judgement of sanitary quality grade in comprehensive assessment on sanitation qualities of public places. Methods Based on the characteristics of public places the fuzzy comprehensive assessment method and index comprehensive assessment method were improved and were applied in the sanitary assessment on 5 kinds of public places in Taiyuan. Results The public places of hotels, shopping centers and barber and beauty shops revealed better sanitary quality,the sanitary qualities of 83%~100% of these three kinds of public palces were assessed as Grade Ⅰ quality by fuzzy comprehensive assessment method, and of 71%~75% of those three kinds of public places were assessed as Grade I quality by index assessment method, and rest were grade Ⅱ quality. The data on sanitary quality grade of public bath rooms showed a scattered distribution in four grades respectively. The public places of entertainment revealed the worst sanitary qualities with grade Ⅱ and grade Ⅲ. The statistical test on the identity of these two assessment methods showed u value of 1.9884, P
2.Study on Correlation Between Air Pollution and Children Outpatient Visits in Taiyuan

Objective To study the adverse effects of air pollution on children's health. Methods Based on statistical data on monthly outpatient visits of Shanxi Provincial Children Hospital, the monitoring data on air pollution and meteorological factors during 1995~1997 in Taiyuan, a correlation analysis on the levels of air pollutants and monthly children outpatient visits was carried out. Results The monthly means of both TSP and SO2 were over the National Air Quality Standard of grade Ⅱ. The level of TSP in air was 1.77 times as high as the national standard. The children outpatient visits to department of internal medicine made up the largest proportion in the hospital (60.72%). Canonical correlation analysis revealed that the levels of SO2 in air gave a greatest contribution (?=0.9901), air temperature did less than air humidity, and the levels of air pollutants did more than meteorological factors to children health damage. Compared with different departments in hospital, the outpatients of department of internal medicine provided the largest share in the total outpatients visits (?=2.2793), then did the emergence department of internal medicine (?=1.9201). Conclusion The more close correlation of air pollution and the children outpatient visits was mainly observed between the levels of SO2 and the outpatient visits to the departments of emergency and internal medicine. The air pollution in Taiyuan had caused adverse effects on children's health to a certain extent.
3.Effect of Dendrobium Nobile Lindl Decoction on Expression of PPARγin Diabetic Nephropathy Rat Kidney

Objective To exPlore the ProtectiVe mechanism of Dendrobium nobile lindl ( DNL ) decoction on the exPression of Peroxisome Proliferator actiVated recePtor gamma ( PPARγ) in the renal cortex of diabetic nePhroPathy ( DN) rats. Methods Sixty SD rats were randomly diVided into six grouPs (n=10 Per grouP) as follows: normal control grouP (NC), diabetic nePhroPathy control grouP ( DN) ,rosiglitazone grouP ( RGZ) ,the Dendrobium nobile lindl low ( LD) ,medium ( MD) and high ( HD) dose grouPs. After DN rat model was established, the rats were administrated with resPectiVe medications for 12 weeks,resPectiVely. The renal Pathology of rats was obserVed. The mRNA and Protein exPression of PPARγ in the renal cortex were detected via Real_time PCR and Western blotting,resPectiVely. Results High dose DNL decoction significantly alleViated thickening of kidney tissue basement membrane and fusion of foot Process in model rats. The leVels of PPARγmRNA and Protein exPression in the MD and HD grouPs were significantly increased as comPared with the DN grouP (P<0. 05,P<0. 01). Conclusion DNL decoction can effectiVely reduce kidney injury by uP_regulating the PPARγ mRNA and Protein exPression in diabetic nePhroPathy rats.
