1.Study on psychological and behavioral intervention on self-concept level of school-age children with asthma

Objective To evaluate the impact of psychological and behavioral intervention on self-concept of school- age children with asthma. Methods The intervention group and the control group in-cluded 50 patients each. Those in the intervention group attended a 6-month psychological behavioral inter-vention in addition to routine follow-up visit and inhalation therapy, while the control group received the routine follow-up visit and inhalation therapy only. Piers-Harris children's self-concept scale (PHCSS) was administered to evaluate the self- concept of the sample repeatedly at 3 months and 6 months. Data about the incidence times of asthma, time of absent from school and hospitalization time were collected within 6-month intervention. Results After 6- month intervention ,the incidence times of asthma and time of ab-sent from school in the intervention group were less San those of the control group. No statistical difference was seen in hospitalization time between the two groups. The total self- concept level and the scores of most subscales, including intelligence and academic competence, physical appearance and attribute, anxiety and popularity in the intervention group were higher than those of the control group. Conclusions Psycholog-ical behavioral intervention was effective in reducing psychosomatic effect of asthma, improving self-con-cept of school- age children with asthma, and promoting the physical and mental health of them.
3.Analysis on Monitoring of Serum Concentration of Carbamazepine in Epileptic Children

OBJECTIVE:To approach the correlations of carbamazepine concentration in serum with clinical therapeutic effect,dosage,sex,age and body weight in epileptic children.METHODS:158 monitoring records for serum concentration of carbamazepine in children with epilepsy in our clinical pharmacy department were consulted retrospectively.Data such as serum concentration,sex and age were recorded into data base and were analyzed using SPSS 13.0 software.RESULTS:No significant correlation was noted between serum concentration of carbamazepine in epileptic children and sex.However,serum concentration of carbamazepine was closely correlated with clinical therapeutic effect,dosage,age and body weight.CONCLUSION:The individual difference in the metabolic processes of carbamazepine was concerned with age and body weight,so it's necessary to make individualized regime according to child's specific condition and monitoring results.

Objective To evaluate suprapubic transvesical prostatectomy without partition of the prostatic cavity. Methods From Nov.1999 to Mar.2000,20 cases of BPH were treated by suprapubic transvesical prostatectomy without partition of the prostatic cavity and the therapeutic result was evaluated. 5. Optimization of preparation of curcumin-loaded TPGS/F127/P123 mixed micelles by uniform design methodology

Objective: The preparation process of curcumin-loaded TPGS/F127/P123 mixed micelles was optimized with uniform design method to improve the poor solubility of curcumin in water, aiming to increase entrapment efficiency (EE), drug-loading (DL), and reduce the precipitated drug (PD). Methods: Curcumin-loaded TPGS/F127/P123 mixed micelles were prepared by thin-film hydration method with modification. Before using the uniform design, a number of preliminary experiments were conducted to identify the controlled factors such as the amount of curcumin, the dosage of TPGS, and the ratio of F127/P123. The formulation was operated by uniform design of three factors and seven levels, and its results were fitted by polynomial linear equation, the response surface, and the contour line in order to choose and verify the optimal preparation process. Results: In the optimum formulation, the dosage of curcumin was 14.0 mg, TPGS 150.0 mg, and the ratio of F127/P123 was 68: 32. The solubility of optimum formulation was (3.47 ± 0.14) mg/mL, EE (87.15 ± 4.39)%, DL (4.70 ± 0.17)%, and PD (0.33 ± 0.12)% in 48 h. Conclusion: The solubility of curcumin in TPGS/F127/P123 mixed micelles was improved after the optimization of the uniform design method, and EE and DL were also improved.
6. Advance on the biphasic drug release system based on controlled released technology

OBJECTIVE: To review the progress in the clinical application, research and development of biphasic or bimodal drug release systems. METHODS: The characteristics of biphasic drug release systems based on different technologies were reviewed. RESULTS and CONCLUSION: Compared with single modal drug release systems, biphasic drug release systems have definite advantages and developed rapidly in recent years.
7. Preparation and in vivo irritating study of doxycycline hyclate in situ forming sustained release injection

OBJECTIVE: To optimize the formulation and study the irritation of doxycycline hyclate in situ forming sustained release injection. METHODS: Doxycycline in situ forming gel (DHISFG) was prepared by using biodegradable, biocompatible PLGA and PLA as materials, and non-toxic NMP as solvent. Orthogonal design was used to optimize the gel formulation. The in vitro drug release, rheology and irritation were also studied. RESULTS: The optimal formulation of DHISFG was PLGA (Mn=10000)-NMP-doxycycline hyclate=25:65:10. The drug release from the DHISFG was 20% within 2 hours and above 90% after 10 days sustained release. The in vitro release data fit the first release and Fick diffusion mechanism. Gingival irritation test of rabbit showed no irritation. CONCLUSION: The developed DHISFG which is degradable and easy to inject could provide a new sustained release formulation to relieve the symptoms of periodontal disease such as alveolar bone absorption and tooth loss. 8. Contents of seven indicative constituents in seven kinds of Gentiana macrophylla by UPLC

Objective: An ultra performance liquid chromatographic (UPLC) method was developed for simultaneously determining seven constituents, such as loganic acid, swertiamarin, 6'-O-β-D-glucosyl gentiopicroside, gentiopicroside, sweroside, isoorientin, and isovitexin, from the medicinal plants of Gentiana macrophylla. Methods: The separation was performed on an Acquity UPLC® BEH C18 column (50 mm ×2.1 mm, 1.7 μm) through a gradient elution of methanol-0.04% aqueous phosphorite at a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min. The detection wavelength was 242 nm, and the column temperature was set at 30℃. Results: For the seven analytes, loganic acid, swertiamarin, 6'-O-β-D-glucosyl gentiopicroside, gentiopicroside, sweroside, isoorientin, and sovitexin, a good linearity (r≥0.9995) was obtained in the range of 2.100-537.100, 1.050-270.000, 0.920-236.000, 11.100-2830.000, 0.750-192.000, 0.167-102.000, and 0.216-52.800 μg, respectively. Their average recoveries (n=6) were 97.83%-100.08%, respevtively, with RSD values less than or equal to 3.76%. Conclusion: The UPLC method is simpler and more effective than HPLC, and can be used for the simultaneous determination of seven indicative constituents in medicinal plants of G. macrophylla.
9.Relationship between the rehabilitative intervention of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases and the functional alteration of monomer polymerization of fibrinogen

BACKGROUND: The elevation of plasma fibrinogen(Fbg) is a key risk factor of cerebrovascular diseases. The evaluation of the monomer polymerization function of fibrin has even more important clinical merit than the detection of Fbg level.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical significance of the monomer polymerization function of fibrin in patients with isehemie cerebrovascular diseases and its impacts on rehabilitative intervention.DESIGN: A case control study employing patients and healthy individual as subjects.SETTING: An Institute of Hematology and Department of Neurology of one university.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 110 patients with different ischemic cerebrovascular disease selected from the Department of Neurology, Union Hospital of Tongji Medical College, Huazhong Science and Technology University from September 2001 to March 2002, and 50 healthy individuals were included in the study.METHODS: Rehabilitative intervention was performed in 31 randomly selected cerebral infarct patients, and the parameters indicating the monomer polymerization functions of fibrin in the plasma were detected by the measurement system for the monomer polymerization function of fibrin.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Abnormal condition of monomer polymerization function of fibrin in each parameter.RESULTS: Each parameter indicating the monomer polymerization functions of fibrin in plasma was significantly increased in ischemic cerebrovascular diseases patients than healthy individuals( P < 0.01 ) . The abnormal rate of Fbg leveland fibrin monomer polymerization velocity (FMPV) was significantly elevated in ischemic cerebrovascular disease patients than healthy individuals ( P < 0. 01 ) . The relative risk(RR) of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases in patients with abnormal FMP functions was 4 to 31 times more than healthy control group. In cerebral infarct group, FMPV of anterior circulation infarct subgroup was significantly elevated than that of posterior circulation infarct and lacunar cerebral infarct subgroups( P < 0.05). The FMP function of anterior cerebral infarct patients was significantly higher than that of healthy group before rehabilitative intervention. Although each FMP parameter reduced after rehabilitative intervention, the difference between was not significant compared with that of before therapy.CONCLUSION: FMP function analysis can completely and objectively reflect the coagulation status of the patients with ischemic cerebrovascular diseases, and it can also reflect the range and severity of infarct to some extent. Although common rehabilitative intervention cannot effectively improve the high-coagulation of the blood, the impacts of specific rehabilitative intervention on the coagulation mechanism deserve further investigation.
10.Reliability and validity of Chinese version of the Stroke Self-Efficacy Questionnaire

Objective The research aimed to translate the English version of the Stroke Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (SSEQ) into Chinese and to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of SSEQ in patients after stroke.Methods Totally 245 patients after stroke were recruited and were investigated by the Chinese version of SSEQ.Results The test-retest reliability of SSEQ was 0.683.The internal consistency coefficient of the Chinese version of SSEQ was 0.914,the internal consistency coefficient of the two dimensions were 0.751 and 0.846.Factor analysis got two factors,which explained 59.284% of the total variance.Factor loading of common factor for each item was above 0.4.Using GSES as an external criterion,the correlation coefficient of the SSEQ and General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) scores was 0.72.The correlation coefficients of two dimensions of daily activity and self-management of SSEQ with GSES were 0.63 and 0.52.Conclusions The Chinese version of SSEQ has been proved to be reliable and valid.It can be used as a valid tool for the measurement of self-efficacy in patients after stroke.
