Atherosclerosis is the important pathologic basis of coronary artery disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease and other vascular diseases.Studies have shown that the atheromatous plaques occur mainly in regions of curvature, bifurcation, and branching of the artery, indicating that low flow shear stress is closely associated with the occurrence of atherosclerosis.Low flow shear stress involves in the induction of atherosclerosis through acting on mechanosensitive molecules in endothelial cell that transduce mechanical stimuli into chemical signals, activate the corresponding intracellular signaling pathways. This article reviews the relationship between low flow shear stress and atherosclerosis.

Objective To study the mechanism of hyperintensed signal at interpeduncle region in meseneephalon on DWI with diffusion sensitive gradient(Gd)applied perpendicular to the slice direetion (DWIs).Methods MRI scanning was centered at interpeduncle region.and the protocols were as follows:(1)With electrocardiograph(ECG)triggering,DWIs was acquired during systole or diastole periods respectively.(2)To observe the shape of hyperintense signal,DWIs with various slice directions was applied, which was set parallel to skull base, along Y axis,or along the oblique line between Y and Z axis with 30°to Z axis.(3)Fiber tracking was performed with the hyperintense signal as"seed"region, fractional anisotropy(FA)and ADC were derived from(multiple directions diffusion weighted imaging,MDDW).FA and ADC of hyperintease region were compared with those of the nearby fiber by using pair t-tesL Results Signal intensitv of hyperintense region on DWIs were 2296.28±38.19 and 153.81±37.91 for b=0 and b=1000 at systole period.while they were 295.36±38.84 and 154.03±37.52 at diastole period. No staffstical difference wag demonstrated between them(t=1.34,0.62,P>0.05).The ADC valus on DWIs acquired during systole and diastole periods were(6.07±2.20)×10-4and(6.69±1.44)×10-4 mm2/s respectively. There was rio statistical difference between them(t=0.94,P>0.05).DTI fiber tracking verified that the hyperintense region located at the decussation of superior eerebelum peduncle(SCP)in mesencephalon. It was in long and narrow heart shape or rectangular shape on DWIs.The shape depended on the direction of Gd The ADC value derived from MDDW at hyperintense region and the fiber below were(10.61±3.42)×10-4 and(9.24±2.21)×10-4 mm2/s respectively. No statistical difference was demonstrated between them(t=0.61.P>0.05).While,the FA at hyperintensed region 0.43±0.13 was less than that of the fiber below 0.61±0.08(t=8.32.P<0.05).Conclusions The shape of the hyperintense region on DWIs depends on the direction of Gd.The cardiac period has no effects on the hyperintense signal at peduncles, which may be attributed to the anisotropy of SCP decussation in mesencephalon.

Objective To explore the application of evaluation of measurement uncertainty in routine coagulation assays based on the data of internal quality control (IQC) and results of external quality assessment (EQA) .Methods Data of clinical coagulation assays of clinical laboratory of Xiangyang city hospital were collected ,Which came from six months of IQC and 3 times of EQA of ministry of health clinical laboratory center from 2012 to 2013 .The combined and expanded uncertainties of 3 measurements(PT , APTT and Fbg) were evaluated according to CNAS top-downapproach .Results When PT were in 12 .72 s and 21 .04 s ,its ex-panded uncertainty were 1 .06 s and 1 .96 s ,and APTT in 36 .6 s and 50 .6 s were 2 .59 s and 5 .30 s ,and Fbg in 3 .32 g/L was 0 .30 g/L .Conclusion Evaluation of measurement uncertainty by using internal quality control data and EQA results for routine coagula-tion detection index is economical and practical and acceptable way ,with good clinical practice .

OBJECTIVETo investigate whether there is an association between DRD2/ANKK1 Taq IA polymorphism and early infant temperament.
METHODSDRD2/ANKK1 Taq IA polymorphism (rs1800497) was determined using polymerase chain reaction-ligase detection reaction (PCR-LDR) techniques in 149 Chinese Han infants from Changsha City. Their mothers were asked to complete the Early Infant Temperament Questionnaires (EITQ) when the infants were 1 to 4 months old (mean: 2.75 months). There were three genotypes found in these infants: C/C, T/T and C/T. The subjects were subdivided into T-carrier (CT, TT) and non-T-carrier (CC) groups for statistical analysis.
RESULTSThere were no differences in the temperament style distribution between the T-carrier and non-T carrier groups. There were also no statistically significant differences between the two groups in the score of the nine temperament dimensions.
CONCLUSIONSDRD2/ANKK1 Taq IA polymorphism is not associated with early infant temperament.

ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical effects of posterior atlantoaxial fusion fixation in treatment of old atlantoaxial injury secondary to atlantoaxial dislocation.MethodsA retrospective analysis was carried out on 16 patients ( 14 males and 2 females) with old atlantoaxial injuries secondary to atlantoaxial dislocations managed with posterior atlantoaxial fusion fixation from March 2008 to March 2012.The time from injury to operation lasted for 3-36 months ( average 10.5 months).Posterior atlantoaxial transpedicular fixation was performed in 13 patients including 10 patients with old odontoid fractures and three with old traumatic transverse ligament disruptions of the atlas combined with atlantoaxial dislocations. Also, posterior atlantal arch transpediclar fixation combined with axial pedicle screw fixation was performed in three patients who had old odontoid fractures combined with atlantoaxial dislocations. All patients had simultaneous autogenous bone grafting between atlas and axis during reduction and fixation. The preoperative and postoperative Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) scores were compared.Follow-up X-ray films and CT was performed to evaluate the atlantoaxial reduction and fusion.ResultsAll the patients were followed up for 9-18 months ( mean 13 months).None of the patients had spinal cord or vertebral artery injuries.Follow-up CT showed that two patients had partial penetration of one side axial pedicle screws into transverse foramen without nerve and blood vessel injuries.Clinical symptoms obtained different degree of improvement. The postoperative JOA scores ranged from 13 to 16 points ( mean 14.8 points) and the improvement rate of JOA was 71%-92% ( mean 82% ).The X-ray films and CT showed sound bone fusion, with good location of screws but with no signs of atlantoaxial instability or loss of reduction,or loosening or breakage of the screws.ConclusionPosterior atlantoaxial fusion fixation can effectively reconstruct atlantoaxial stability, improves neurologic function of spinal cord and has reliable curative effects.
