Objective To analyze the relationship between serum Th1/Th2 cytokines levels and autoantibodies against thyroid, and explore the role of Th1/Th2 cellular immunity imbalance in the pathogenesis of autoimmune thyroid diseases(AITD). Methods 21 patients with Graves'desease(GD), 18 cases with Hashimoto's thyroiditis(HT), 17 cases with non-toxic nodular goiter(NTNG) and 20 healthy subjects were enrolled in this study. The serum concentrations of their Th1 cytokines (IFN-?,IL-2) and Th2 cytokines (IL-4,IL-10) were assayed by ELISA. The serum levels of their thyrotropin receptor antibodies(TRAb), thyroglobulin antibodies (TGAb) and thyroid peroxidase antibodies(TPOAb) were measured by routine methods. The relationship between the serum Th1, Th2 cytokines levels and serum TRAb, TGAb, TPOAb levels were analyzed. Results The serum levels of IL-4 and IL-10 in patients with GD were significantly higher than those in patients with HT,NTNG and healthy subjects(P

[Objective] To investigate the relationship of thyroid hormones with excess-heat syndrome and deficiency-heat syndrome. [Methods] Serum levels of thyroid hormones and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) in 30 healthy volunteers (Group A) , 27 cases of excess-heat syndrome (Group B) and 35 cases of deficiency-heat syndrome (Group C) were detected by radioimmunoassay. [Results] Serum levels of triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) were higher and reverse T3 (rT3) lower in Group C than those in Group A (P 0.05). [Conclusion] Serum thyroid hormones level in deficiency-heat syndrome is different from that of excess-heat syndrome may be related to the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid function.

BACKGROUND: Changes of leukocytes are related with some postoperative complications after renal transplantation. OBJECTIVE: To observe dynamically the level of white blood cell (WBC) and its morphological changes using automatic blood cell analyzer to evaluate its relationship with infection, immunosuppressive intoxation and acute rejection. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Observation and controlled trial was performed at Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University from June 2004 to October 2005. PARTICIPANTS: Sixty-eight patients who received renal transplantation were selected. According to clinical symptoms and laboratory biochemical indexes, X-ray, B ultrasound, and renal puncture biopsy, the patients were divided into stable group (n=36), infection group (n=9), intoxation group (n=6) and acute rejection group (n=13). METHODS: The blood routine was tested with Sysmex XE-2100 automatic blood analyzer following renal transplantation and WBC manual differentiation was done to observe peripheral blood morphology, their liver function. In addition, renal and liver functions were detected by automatic biochemical system 7600A. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: WBC count and its morphological changes in peripheral blood and liver and renal function after renal transplantation. RESULTS: WBC count of the stable group and intoxation group was normal, and that of the acute rejection group and infection group were significantly higher than the stable group (P

Chinese Journal of Radiation Oncology 2021;30(2):213-216
Radiation-induced lung injury (RILI) is a common complication in thoracic cancer patients through radiotherapy, which can be divided into the early-stage radiation-induced pneumonitis (RP) and late-stage radiation-induced lung fibrosis (RILF). At present, glucocorticoids are mainly adopted in the clinical treatment of RP. However, there has been no effective medical treatment for RILF. RILF patients will eventually die from respiratory failure. The exact mechanism of RILI remains unclear. Current studies have proposed that its possible pathogenesis might consist of genetic heterogeneity, oxidative stress and cell damage. In this review, studies related to the pathogenesis of RILI were summarized.

PURPOSE: This study was conducted to investigate the small double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) mediated anti-tumor effects of p21(WAF1/ClP1) (p21) transcriptional activation in vitro in the human glioma SHG-44 cell line. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Human glioma SHG-44 cells were transfected with dsRNA using LipofectAMINE 2000 transfection reagent. Real-time PCR and Western blot analysis were conducted to detect p21 and survivin mRNA and protein levels, respectively. Cell proliferation was examined by MTT assay. Cell cycle distribution and apoptosis were detected by flow-cytometric analysis. RESULTS: We found that dsRNA targeting p21 promoter (dsP21) significantly induced the expression of p21 at transcription and protein levels, and reduced the expression of survivin. AS well, dsP21 transcription significantly inhibited human glioma SHG-44 cell proliferation. Analysis of cell cycle distribution revealed that dsP21 transfection increased accumulation of cells in the G0/G1 phase and reduced accumulation of cells in the S phase. Further analysis revealed that dsP21 transcription led to an increase in both early and late stages of apoptosis in human glioma SHG-44 cells. CONCLUSION: In the present study, P21 activation by RNA-induced gene activation (RNAa) induced anti-tumor activity in vitro in a human glioma SHG-44 cell line. The results suggested that RNAa could be used for human glioma treatment by targeted activation of tumor suppressor genes.

Journal of Interventional Radiology 2009;18(12):904-907
Objective To evaluate the color Doppler ultrasound in diagnosing venous diseases of lower extremity, and to compare it with DSA. Methods By using color Doppler ultrasound (CDUS)apparatus, two-dimensional spectrum, color Doppler flow image, pulse wave Doppler and Valsalva examination were performed in 48 patients with suspected venous diseases of lower extremity. The CDUS findings were compared with DSA findings. Results Of 48 cases with suspected lower extremity venous diseases, deep vein thrombosis formation was confirmed in 27, among them 15 were accompanied with lower extremity deep venous valvular incompetence, 8 were complicated by lower extremity varicosity and 2 were associated with both conditions. Another one had cyst in the left popliteal fossa and popliteal venous thrombosis. Decreased blood flow in iliac veins was found in some cases. Pure lower extremity venous valvular incompetence was seen in 5 cases and pure lower extremity superficial varicosity in 6 cases. Six cases suffered both valvular incompetence and superficial varicosity. CDUS showed normal findings in 4 cases, of them DSA demonstrated compressed iliac vein in 2. When taking DSA as golden standard, the accuracy of CDUS was 95.83%. By using the uniformity test, Kappa value was 0.65. Conclusion CDUS is of great clinical usefulness in diagnosing venous diseases of lower extremity as well as in evaluating the therapeutic effect.
