Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of Shenmai injection (SMI) combined with heart transplantation of autologous bone marrow stem cells in the treatment of refractory heart failure(RHF). Methods Two hundred patients with RHF were selected from the Emergency Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and the Cardiology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. They were randomly divided into control group and treatment 1,2 and 3 groups(each 50 cases). In the control group, heart failure standard treatment was given;group 1 received a standard treatment for heart failure combined with autologous bone marrow stem cell heart transplantation;group 2 received a standard treatment for heart failure with SMI;group 3 received a standard treatment for heart failure combined with autologous bone marrow stem cell heart transplantation and SMI. The mean follow-up was 24 months. The prognosis, readmission rate, clinical efficacy, cardiac function and the change in levels of B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP)of patients in each group were observed during the therapeutic course and observation period. Results During the course of treatment, there were 10 cases dead in the control group,4 in each group 1 and 2 respectively, and 3 in group 3. Readmission rates in group 1,2 and 3 were significantly lower than that in control group(38%,36%,24%vs. 48%, P<0.05 or P<0.01). The rates of total efficiency in group 1,2 and 3 were obviously higher than that in the control group(88%,86%,94%vs. 76%,all P<0.05). After treatment, the left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),left ventricular fractional shortening(FS)and left ventricular end-systolic diameter(LVESD)in three therapeutic groups were significantly higher than those before treatment, while the left ventricular end-diastolic diameter(LVEDD)and BNP level were significantly lower than those before treatment. All the above indexes in three therapeutic groups after treatment were much more remarkably improved than those in the control group during the same period, and the group 3 being the most significant〔LVEF:0.477±0.099 vs. 0.396±0.098,FS:(30.0±5.1)%vs.(26.8±7.5)%,LVESD (mm):40.6±9.1 vs. 45.8±9.4,LVEDD(mm):44.9±9.8 vs. 52.8±10.1,BNP(ng/L):515±400 vs. 1 875±400, all P<0.05〕. Conclusion SMI combined with heart transplantation of autologous bone marrow stem cells has obvious therapeutic effect for treatment of RHF.

ObjectiveTo investigate the genetic polymorphisms of 21 short tandem repeat(STR)loci (D3S1358, D13S317, D7S820, D16S539, Penta E, D2S441, TPOX, TH01, D2S1338, CSF1PO, Penta D, D10S1248, D19S433, vWA, D21S11, D18S51, D6S1043, D8S1179, D5S818, D12S391 and FGA). Methods A total of 560 blood samples were collected from unrelated healthy individuals of Han population in Hunan Province. Chelex-100 extraction method was applied to the extraction of genomic DNA, and an AGCU EX22 Kit and 9700 STR amplification was used in amplification reactions. The products were separated and analyzed on 310 Genetic Analyzer.ResultsA total of 248 alleles were observed, the al-lelic frequencies ranging from 0.001 to 0.518. Observation of genotype distributions for each locus showed no deviations from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium exceptPentaE(P=0.023). The combined pow-er of discrimination, combined power of exclusion, and combined matching probability of the 21 STR loci were approximately 0.999 999 999 999 999 999 999 999 8, 0.999 999 998, and 1.36×10-25, respectively. ConclusionThe 21 STR loci show high polymorphisms in the Han population, which can provide valu-able data and a theoretical basis for forensic individual identification and paternity testing.

Objective:To investigate the effects of microwave radiation on associative learning and memory function and hippocampal structure of mice.Methods:C57BL/6N mice were ramdomly divided into sham-radiated group ( n=27) and radiation group ( n=2). The radiation group was exposed to microwave at 2.856 GHz, 8 mW/cm 2 for 15 min, then their spatial and associative learning and memory function were examined with the morris water maze and shuttle box behavior experiment. The pathological changes of hippocampal tissue were observed by HE staining and light microscope, the ultrastructural changes of hippocampal tissue were observed by transmission electron microscope. Results:After microwave radiation, the times of mice crossing the platform for the reverse space exploration decreased from(3.60±0.79) times to (2.55±0.47) times( t=2.21, P=0.046), the average active escape rate decreased significantly ( t = 2.70, P<0.05), and the average active latency and the total shock time was significantly prolonged ( t = -3.09, -3.02, P < 0.05). At 8 d after microwave radiation, the nuclei of some neurons in the CA3 and DG regions of the hippocampus were pyknosis. The neurons were apoptotic, the synaptic spaces blurred, the glial cells swollen, and the perivascular spaces widened in the CA3 region of the hippocampus. Conclusions:Microwave radiation can decline the spatial reference memory ability and associative learning and memory ability of mice. The morphological and pathological changes of hippocampus are the structural basis of this dysfunction.
