Objective:To clarify the expression and significance of coxsackie-adenovirus receptor (CAR) in myocardia with dilated car- diomyopathy (DCM). Methods:Myocardium specimens derived from 20 patients with DCM underwent orthotopic cardiac transplantation and 5 nor- mal myocardium specimens were collected at autopsy from sudden deaths.In the myocardia,coxsackievirus B (CVB)and adeno- virus (ADV) genes were detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR),and the expression levels of CAR mRNA and protein were examined by reverse transcription (RT)-PCR and immunohistochemistry,respectively. Results:Viral genomes could be amplified from the myocardia of 12 DCM patients (CVB=7,ADV=5).Viral genomes failed to be detected from myocardia of 5 controls.Therefore,the present experiment had four groups:eoxsackievirus,adenovi- rus,the other and the control.There were no CAR mRNA and protein expression in the other group or normol control group. However,the expression levels of CAR mRNA and protein were remarkedly elevated in coxsackievirus and adenovirus groups, There were no differences between coxsackievirus group and adenovirus group. Conclusion:Upregulated CAR expression can increase the susceptibility of CVB or ADV,which makes viral myoearditis pro- gressing to dilated cardiomyopathy.

Although coronary heart disease (CHD) and stroke share important risk factors,some associations differ between these two components of cardiovascular diseases.The objective of this study was to compare vascular risk factor profiles and in-hospital outcomes in acute stroke (AS) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients.Methods We evaluated 383 consecutive patients who were admitted to the 94th Hospital of Chinese PLA and the Third Hospital of Nanchang with diagnoses of AS (ischemic stroke or intracerebral hemorrhage;n = 310) or AMI (n = 73) during a 2-year period.The frequency of risk factors and inhospital mortality rates were assessed in both groups.Results AS patients were significantly older than AMI patients ( 68.9 ± 9.1 years vs.62.8 ±11.7 years;P ＜ 0.01).AMI was significantly more common than AS in patients younger than 65 years;51% of this group had AMI and 26% had AS (P ＜ 0.001).Hypertension was more common in AS patients than in AMI patients (69% vs.58%;P = 0.042).Patients who died did not differ significantly in age between the groups.In-hospital mortality rates were significantly higher in AS than AMI cases (31% vs.12%,P ＜ 0.001 for all patients;37% vs.5%,P ＜ 0.001 for men).Women hospitalized for AMI were more likely to die in hospital than men (28% vs.5%;P = 0.002).Conclusions Patients with stroke and with AMI differ in their risk factor profile.Age at the time of presentation was a significant differentiating factor between patients with AS and AMI.We observed significantly higher in-hospital mortality for patients with AS (when adjusted for age) than for patients with AMI.(J Geriatr Cardiol 2008;5:223-226)

Objective To explore the effects of music intervention on growth and development of premature infants. Methods 112 premature infants were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group with 56 cases in each. The control group received conventional nursing measures, and the observation group was simultaneously given music intervention besides the conventional routine nursing measures. Weight increase, hospitalization time, milk-intake volume and feeding tolerance were compared between the two groups. Results The weight increase in the observation group was higher than that in the control group. Hospitalization time and rate of feeding intolerance for the observation group was lower compared with that of the control group. The premature infants in the observation group took in more milk than those in the control group. Conclusions Music intervention can elevate feeding tolerance, facilitate nutrition and increase weight of premature infant, so it is beneficial to the growth and development of premature infant.

The Qirongrunchang Mixture(QRRCM)is a prescription composed of Radix Astragali,Fructus Cannabis,etc.It is effective for habitual constipa- tion and constipation in the aged and the debilitated,It was shown in this study that oral administration of this mixture could accelerate the intestinal movement in mice with yang-deficiency in a dose-dependent manner,and exerted a cathartic effect on mice with eonstipation.It increased the volume of intestinal content in rabbits,but did not influence the absorption of water in the intestines.

Objective To observe the clinical effect of modified B-lynch suture in the treatment of patients with pernicious placenta pre-via.Methods A total of 46 patients with pernicious placenta previa in our hospital were randomly divided into the modified B-lynch suture treatment group(modified group)and the conventional therapy group(convention group),with 23 cases in each group.The operation time, menstrual recovery time and lochia sanguinea time,postpartum hemorrhage,intraoperative blood soss,abnormal temperature time,placenta ac-creta,hysterectomy and neonatal asphyxia between the two groups were compared.Results The intraoperative blood soss and postpartum hemorrhage of modified group was less than those of convention group,the menstrual recovery time was shorter than that of convention group and the rate of resection of uterine was lower than that of conventional group,with significant difference (P <0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in operation time,abnormal temperature time,lochia sanguinea time,placenta accreta and neonatal asphyxia between two groups (P >0.05).Conclusion The clinical effect of modified B-lynch suture in the treatment of dangerous placenta previa is significant.

Objective To analyze the anti hypertensive drugs use of clinical characteristics of obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS) patients complicated with hypertension.Methods 233 obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome patients complicated with hypertension were enrolled,and they were theated with three different therapy methods.After the treatment,the situations of kind,effect and combined use of oral antihypertensive drugs were statistically analyzed.Results The most frequently used drugs were calcium channel blocker (CCB),especially nifedipine sustained-release tablets [75.5％ (176/233)];the combined prescription was 63.9％ (149/233) of all prescriptions,but the data reduced to 57.1％ (133/233) after OSAHS therapy.Conclusion There is a good condition regarding using oral antihypertensive drugs in Weihai.However,some antihypertensive drugs are used irrationally.

Objective To study the mutation of papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16) E6 gene, and to compare with the result of other researchers. Methods DNA was extracted from cervical cancer tissue sam-pies, then HPV16 E6 genes were amplified and sequenced using the HPV16 E6 specific primers from cervi-cal cancer DNA samples. Results HPV16 E6 gene mutations at the position of nt178 were found in 18 case from 35 cervical cancer samples, the mutation rate was 51.43%, resulting in nucleotide change of Asp to Glu. E6 mutations are found at the position of nt442 in 4 cervical samples. E6 mutation was found in 1 to 2 case in other nucleotide. Conclusion High frequency mutations of E6 gene of HPV16 at the position of nt178, nt442 have been found in cervical cancer samples in Hubei, China. The role of E6 gene mutation in cervical cancer development should be studied further.
