Huoxue Tongmai Lishui method, a traditional Chinese medicine treatment for eliminating water, activating and promoting blood circulation, could inhibit fundus hemorrhage on experimental retinal vein occlusion (RVO) with high obvious effective rate, and improve symptoms in traditional Chinese medicine. The action mechanism may be related to reducing plasma viscosity and non-perfusion area, and the formation of collateral circulation.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of early intervention of second-line treatment for advanced breast cancer patients who experienced elevated tumor marker without any evidence for progress on imaging after effective first-line treatment. Methods We recruited 42 metastatic breast cancer patients experiencing elevated tumor marker (CEA or CA-153) meanwhile, who had merely increased tumor markers again in regular review after effective first-line treatment. Patients were divided into two groups: 20 patients in treatment group were given second-line treatment (palliative chemotherapy); 22 patients in observation group insisted on regular follow-up without any changing of treatment strategy. We mainly evaluated PFSmarker , which was defined as the time between tumor markers increase and disease progression. Results CEA and CA-153 in patients with advanced breast cancer showed a tendency to decrease after first-line chemotherapy , which can be reduced again by second-line treatment while increased in regular review , and the observation group continued to rise until disease progressed. The PFSmarker in treatment group was 13.65 (6 ~ 24) months while that of the observation group was 8.18 (3 ~ 15) months. The difference of PFS between these two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05) and the median time to disease progression in treatment group was significantly longer than that in observation group. Conclusions Early intervention of second-line treatment for advanced breast cancer patients who only experienced elevated tumor marker after effective first-line treatment could slow down disease progression and improve the quality of life.

Objective To investigate whether MT1-MMP is involved in the inhibition effect of curcumin on the proliferation and invasion of breast cancer cell and the mechanism . Methods Firstly, MCF-7 cell lines transfected by MT1-MMP eukaryotic expression vector was established. We divided all cells into 3 groups, including null vector transfection group, non-transfected and transfected group with different concentrations of curcumin. The expression of MT1-MMP protein, the proliferation and invasion ability were respectively analyzed by western blot, transwell method, and cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8). Results The expression of MT1-MMP was inhibited by curcumin. Transwell and CCK-8 experiment indicated the proliferation and invasion abilities of MT1-MMP transfected MCF-7 cells were inhibited by curcumin in a concentration dependent manner. Conclusion The inhibition value of curcumin on proliferation and invasion is probably due to its ability to inhibit the expression of MT1-MMP.

Objective To explore the therapeutical effects of enteral nutrition (EN) combined with panaxoside Rb1 on mouse modles of postoperative fatigue syndrome. Methods Totally, 72 male Sprague-Dawley mice were randomly divided into control group, model group, EN group, EN associated with high/middle/low dose panaxoside Rb1 groups (EHP group, EMP group, and ELP group, n = 12 in each group). Changes in body weight were measured before and after interventions. Learning and memory playback abilities, physical strength, and vim state were evaluate by Morris Water Maze test and Improved Tail Suspension test. Serum transferrin, prealbumin, fibronectin, and interleukin-2 levels were measured with ELISA. Serum albumin level was assayed with Bromcresol Green colorimetric technique. CD4 + and CD8 + proportions were assayed by flow cytometry. Results The body weight grew alternately in each group without significant differences ( P > 0.05 ) except for model group. The latency period was significantly shorter in EN combined with panaxoside Rbl group than that in model group ( P < 0. 05 ) , and the frequencies of crossing platform in EHP group and EMP group were significantly higher than those in model group ( P < 0. 01 ). The areas of struggling above domain in EHP group and EMP group were significantly larger than those in model group ( P < 0. 05 ), and the accumulated static time of rest in EHP group, EMP group, and ELP group was significantly shorter than that in model group ( P < 0.05 ). Serum transferrin, prealbumin, fibronectin levels in EN combined with panaxoside Rb1 group were significantly higher than those in model group ( all P < 0.05 ). The CD4 + T proportion and interleukin-2 level in EHP group, EMP group, and ELP group were significantly higher than those in model group (both P <0.05 ); however, CD8 + T proportion was not significantly different between three panaxoside Rbl groups and model group (P > 0. 05 ). Conclusion EN combined with panaxoside Rb1 can improve postoperative fatigue syndrome in a dose-dependent way, which may be explained by the fact that it can strengthen the postoperative nutrition, restrain hypermetabolism, and increase immunity.

Objective To investigate the mechanism of carbapenems resistance in Serratia marces-cens strains isolated from Wenzhou and their epidemiological characteristics. Methods 147 non-duplicated Serratia marcescens isolates were collected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University during 2006 to 2012.The antimicrobial susceptibility test for all isolates was performed by using Vitek2 Compact to screen carbapenems-resistant Serratia marcescens strains. The minimum inhibitory concentrations ( MICs) of 10 commonly used antibiotics against carbapenems-resistant Serratia marcescens strains were de-termined by agar dilution method. The phenotypes of carbapenemase were analyzed by using the modified Hodge test.PCR analysis was used to detect the genes encoding carbapenemase, AmpC enzyme, efflux pump and outer membrane proteins. The changes of MICs before and after using CCCP efflux pump inhibitor were measured by agar dilution method.Outer membrane proteins were detected by SDS-PAGE.Carbapene-ms resistance genes were transferred from carbapenems-resistant Serratia marcescens strains to recipient strains by conjugation. The transconjugants were amplified by PCR and measured for MICs.Pulsed-field gel electrophoresis ( PFGE) was used to analyze homology among strains. Results 11 isolates resistant to car-bapenems were screened out from 147 Serratia marcescens isolates and all of them were resistant to penicil-lins, cephalosporins and ertapenem.10 out of the 11 isolates were both resistant to imipenem and meropen-em, but remained susceptible to fluoroquinolones and aminoglycoside.Among the 11 isolates, 10 carried blaKPC-2 gene, 1 carried blaIMP-1 gene, 8 harbored both blaEBC and blaMOX genes, 1 harbored both blaEBC and blaDHA genes, and 1 carried blaEBC , blaMOX and blaDHA genes. No additional genes were identified by PCR.The MICs of imipenem to 7 isolates and the MICs of ertapenem to 3 isolates were respectively decreased by 4-64 folds and 8-256 folds after using CCCP.CCCP had no effects on the MICs of meropenem.Loss of outer membrane protein was not detected among the 11 isolates. The blaKPC-2 genes were successfully transferred from 7 isolates into recipient strains. The MICs against the transconjugants were higher than those against the recipient strains in varying degrees.PFGE analysis demonstrated that 8 out of 11 Serratia marcescens strains belonged to one clonotype. Conclusion KPC-2 carbapenemase played an essential role in carbapenems re-sistance in Serratia marcescens strains isolated from Wenzhou.Attention should be paid to the clonal spread of KPC-2 and its horizontal transmission in Wenzhou.

Objective To explore the best therapeutic methods for acute mesenteric venous thromboses(AMVT)with different degrees of intestinal ischemic lesions. Methods 6 cases of acute abdomen were preoperatively diagnosed as AMVT with imaging. After laparotomy, patients were classified as congestive lesion(n=3)and necrotic lesion(n=3)according to the degree of intestinal sichemia and were treated with mesenteric thrombectomy and bowel resection, respeetively. All cases received heparin and urokinase perioperatively. Results Of the 3 patients receiving mesenteric thrombectomy, 2 were cured and the other one with ischemic ascending colon was cured after right hemicolectomy due to the complication of colic dynamic ileus and perforation 10 days after thrombectomy. The other 3 patients recovered after bowel resection. Follow-up from 8 months to 6 years showed no recurrence. Conclusion Combined with anti-coagulation therapy, thrombectomy and bowel resection are rational and effective protocol for congestive lesion and necrotic lesion, respectively in AMVT patients.
