1.The effect of floating-needle therapy combined with rehabilitation training for the hand function recovery of post-stroke patients.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2015;35(8):758-762
OBJECTIVETo explore the improvement of hand motion function, spasm and self-care ability of daily life for stroke patients treated with floating-needle combined with rehabilitation training.
METHODSEighty hand spasm patients of post-stroke within one year after stroke were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each one. In the two groups, rehabilitation was adopted for eight weeks, once a day,40 min one time. In the observation group, based on the above treatment and according to muscle fascia trigger point, 2~3 points in both the internal and external sides of forearm were treated with floating-needle. The positive or passive flexion and extension of wrist and knuckle till the relief of spasm hand was combined. The floating-needle therapy was given for eight weeks, on the first three days once a day and later once every other day. Modified Ashworth Scale(MAS), activity of daily life(ADL, Barthel index) scores and Fugl-Meyer(FMA) scores were used to assess the spasm hand degree, activity of daily life and hand motion function before and after 7-day, 14-day and 8-week treatment.
RESULTSAfter 7-day, 14-day and 8-week treatment, MAS scores were apparently lower than those before treatment in the two groups(all P<0. 05), and Barthel scores and FMA scores were obviously higher than those before-treatment(all P<0. 05). After 14-day and 8-week treatment, FMA scores in the observation group were markedly higher than those in the control group(both P<0. 05).
CONCLUSIONFloating-needle therapy combined with rehabilitation training and simple rehabilitation training could both improve hand spasm degree, hand function and activity of daily life of post-stroke patients, but floating-needle therapy combined with rehabilitation training is superior to simple rehabilitation training for the improvement of hand function.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2006;14(3):419-426
The molecular characterization of self-antigens expressed by human malignancies that are capable of elicitation of anti-tumor immune responses in patients has been an active field in hematology, oncology, and tumor immunology. More than 2000 tumor antigens have been identified. These significant progresses have led to the renaissance of tumor immunology and studies on novel anti-tumor immunotherapies in lymphomas, other hematologic malignancies and tumors. However, despite of the progress in the identification of these self-tumor antigens, current antigen-specific immunotherapies for tumors are far less satisfactory than that expected, which reflects the urgent need to improve our understanding on the basic principles underlying the selection of these self-tumor antigens. In order to develop more effective antigen-specific anti-tumor immunotherapies and to monitor the responses to these immunotherapies in patients with lymphomas and other malignancies, many additional questions need to be addressed. In this brief review, the progress in the identification of tumor antigens in lymphomas and other malignancies was outlined and the new principles of self-tumor antigens and their significance for future immunotherapies to these malignancies were summarized.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of external application of Zhuangshenling Recipe (ZR) combined with Western medicine (WM) on the heart function of chronic heart failure (CHF) patients of Xin-Shen yang deficiency, interior retention of water-fluid syndrome (XSYDIRWFS).
METHODSTotally 140 CHF patients of XSYDIRWFS were randomly assigned to two groups, the treatment group and the control group, 70 in each group. All patients received WM therapy. Those in the treatment group were applied with ZR at Xinshu (BL15) and Shenshu (BL23), while those in the control group were applied with placebos at Xinshu (BL15) and Shenshu (BL23). The therapeutic course for all was 12 weeks. The integrals of TCM syndrome, grading of cardiac function, brain natriuretic polypeptide (BNP), and 6 min walking distance were observed before and after treatment.
RESULTSAfter twelve weeks of treatment, the effective rate of improved grading of cardiac function, the total effective rate of TCM syndrome efficacy, and the BNP level were obviously better in the treatment group (P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference in 6 min walking distance between the two groups (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONExternal application of ZR combined with WM could improve the heart function of CHF patients of XSYDIRWFS.

9.Effect of Penqiangyan Granule on the immune function of patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease of blood-stasis and Shen-deficiency syndrome type.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2007;27(9):841-843
OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of Penqiangyan Granule (PG) on the immunity of patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (CPID) of blood stasis and Shen-deficiency syndrome (BSSDS) type.
METHODSSixty patients were randomly assigned to two groups: the treatment group treated with PG and the control group with Penyanjing Granule, 30 cases in each group. The treatment course was 4 weeks for both groups. The clinical efficacy, plasma levels of CD4 and CD8, and the serum levels of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and interleukin-2 (IL-2) were measured before and after treatment.
RESULTSAfter treatment, the total effective rate in the treatment group and the control group was 96.7% and 63.3% respectively with significant difference between groups (P < 0.05); in the treatment group the plasma CD4, CD4/CD8 and serum IL-2 increased obviously, while the plasma CD8 and serum TNF-alpha decreased markedly (P < 0.05), all were significantly different with those in the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONPG can improve the immune function and alleviate inflammation in CPID patients of BSSDS type.
